My degree is in History and I've used what I learned in every job since.

One of those robot vacuums. There's no way to keep it from going into other rooms or places unless you block the entrances. It goes back and forth under the damn couch a hundred times but won't just go around the room. I have to go get it out of the bathroom or bring it to the living room if it's stuck in the hallway. And worst of all, you have to get literally everything off the floor before starting it or it will get stuck on it (like shoes, blankets or things you have leaning against the wall). If I have to do that anyway, then I'd rather just vacuum myself and it will take less time. Mine is now sitting in a closet.

Most robot vacuums have to be trained a bit, and most have apps that go with them that one can mark "no-go" zones in rooms. They aren't magic. My robot (named Dot Matrix, but with a French accent) is well-trained and never has problems with things like shoes and blankets, which IMO should be put away before cleaning, but that's me.

A trim bike, I wanted to encourage myself to do something against my overweight. Who did I try to deceive?

A guitar during early COVID days. I didn’t have any musical skills and wanted to learn at least one instrument. Paid for a private tutor too at that time. Years later I still don’t have any skills. Now the guitar is just collecting dust in the corner of my room.

A "Cricut Maker 3" cutting machine...it's not that it's a bad machine, I just don't have the time to get into it and figure out everything it'll do. Really sorry I bought it. :(

A ticket to Alice Cooper's concert this July. I'm old enough to saw him in the end of '90s a few times, and those also weren't his best shows. I love his music, but I ended up not going. Doesn't want to ruin the feeling towards his music, seeing him trying to perform at 73 years, as he would have just 33 or 43 years. I guess, I donated 120 euros for him ... it worthed, after all ...

My Volvo. I bought it new because Volvos had a great reputation and I figured since I take really great care of my cars, I could drive it for decades. Nope. It needed a new engine at 124,000 miles. I tried to talk to Volvo about it, but they basically told me "too bad." I later found out that there's a class action suit against Volvo for this very issue. I will NEVER buy a Volvo again!

Two things - a treadmill that I used only a few times but then turned into a clothes hanger. A top-of-the-line bagless Dyson vacuum designed for animal hair. Complete waste of time and money - needs to be empties every ten minutes. Has been sitting in a corner for the past two years - I went back to Miele....

Instead of getting much-needed new kitchen cabinets, to save money I talked my husband into having them re-faced. What a waste. The veneer peeled off and then the cabinets fell apart. I'm so sorry we did that.

Next time, paint. The doors need prep (degrease, sand etc) but you end up with what looks like new.

Kind of reverse thought answer, but economy seats on QANTAS airways. The pain, the horror
