My unpopular opinion is that doctor assisted suicide and euthanasia should be legal. Because people with terminal illness should have the right to die with dignity and we should also be able end the suffering of people that have severe disabilities and brain impairments. What I mean by that is people who require 24/hr care to survive and have no brain function. Like for instance the case of Terry Shivo. I think making people like out there lives in severe pain is cruel and that measures should be taken to end their suffering.
Please respect my opinion... but... I do not like the shirts that say things like "girl power" and "Boys suck" and "Girls are better than boys" and such. I love the movement... But I think that males and females should be equal and not like an unbalanced scale.
Stop having babies you can't take care of. Stop having babies when there are so many waiting to be adopted. Stop overpopulating this earth; she's at her breaking point.
THANK you. People say "Oh adopting is different from having your own child". That child can become your child. If those children don't get adopted then they wont have anybody to nurture them and help them grow.
I love books, and I don't think you're a "nerd" or a "geek" if you like to read books.
US education system is broken. Not everyone is going to college and we have neglected the trades. We have created the need for going into debt for a piece of paper and ignored the need for those that will fix our plumbing, electrical, cars and whatever else.
Anyone who has gone to grade school in the US knows that it is broken.
Despite the hate, Pitbulls are actually good dogs. They are viewed badly because they are good fighting dog, so they are used for dogfighting often
My friend has the sweetest dog, and he's a Pitbull who's been abused by 10 owners before her. Pitbulls are like any other living thing, you treat anything with cruelty and evil and it will live to be a bloodthirsty beast, you treat it with respect and kindness and it will live to be a gentle creature.
My unpopular opinion is if the man has custody of the child and is taking care of that child it is OK to take the mother for child support.
I believe the law in many states also holds this unpopular opinion.
Introverts do like people.
Now, I do like staying home and being alone, but I'm happy whenever I hear or see my friends. I might not like people or going into the public, but there are people I like.
Another unpopular opinion is they need to start cracking down on "news" agencies that spread misinformation and promote violence and hate. These sites and agencies have caused a massive amount of distrust and violent protest. For example many of the lone wolf mass shootings were partly the result of people being radicalized by these sites. Also there needs to be stronger measures into cracking down on preachers promoting politics from the pulpit and receiving tax payer money through the PPP loans. They pay no taxes and should not receive any tax payer help and should not preach politics as per the Johnson amendment.
Many parents need to step up and do their part by making sure their kids do their homework, attend class and respect their teachers.
Then there's the other extreme...some parents who needs to back the f down and stop doing their child's homework, asking to be notified if their child slips below a B grade, ask for their child's college recommendation letter, write a thank you note for their child, ask if I could ignore the last failed test because it is hurting their self-image, making sure I know that the reason their child isn't doing well is they just are not challenged enough... (sigh). However, the majority of parents are trying hard, being fair, and are wonderful to work with.
Kids should know gay people are real so they grow up to be excepting and feel same to be themselves.
My unpopular opinion is that adult people should stop blaming their problems on whether other people accept and respect their gender, sexual preferences, religion, race, nationality, etc. or not, and assume full responsibility for their own actions (as well as successes and mishaps) as intelligent human beings. In other words, they should cultivate an internal locus of control.
The news needs to have more positive stories than negative ones.
Unpopular opinion: Game of Thrones sucks, both the books and the TV show. There’s more plot holes in the story than there are grains of sand in the Sonora Desert, and it would be kinda cool if I could follow the storyline without boobs getting in the way.
Prostitution should be legal and regulated. We're never going to stop people from using their services, but if they operated in a building with security and regular testing, as well as workers' rights, things would be a lot safer for sex workers.
Trump is the best.
(Just kidding I'm not a psychopath)
2021 can suck too. Stop saying that 2021 is going to be the best. It's not like coronavirus is going to disappear, climate change is not gonna exist and Trump is going to evaporate when 2021 actually comes.
Religion was formed to control the ignorant. It is still used that way today.
Pineapple is good on pizza.
My unpopular opinion: The idea that it is a basic human right to reproduce is flawed. We use this idea to pretend that reproduction, as a biological imperative, is somehow also a fundamental right that would be violated if everyone was not given the opportunity to have children. This is not true for any other mammal and it is not true for humans. Frankly, people who cannot afford to feed, clothe, and house their children; people who have inheritable genetic disorders; and people whose mental disorders prevent them from creating a loving environment; and etc. should not be encouraged to not have children. But instead of framing the issue in a way that would force people to take a look at whether they should reproduce and provide them with safe and affordable methods of choosing not to, we act like no one's life can be complete without children and we treat reproduction as a right. All this does is perpetuate social and medical issues.
My Unpopular Opinion:
People who claim to be 'PRO-LIFE' when they're actually only 'PRO-BIRTH'
They want to make a person - who does not want to have a child for whatever their reason - have a child, then they b*tch & moan & criticize this person-with-a-child for having a chemical dependency, or putting said child up for adoption, or applying for food assistance, or needs financial help, or whatever, yet knew all along the couldn't offer a child a 'life.'
Stop claiming 'pro-life' when 'life' is not what you care about.
If they were honest they are anti-abortion. It isn't the baby, it about life they feel they can save, such powerful people can force women to feel even worse about something nobody wants, it is often done in absolute desperation. They try to make the situation so awful, women aren't brave enough to follow through. Churches push this without looking at the bigger picture. And there is a bigger picture. How many of the men who support this have insisted a mistress to end a pregnancy? They can fly her anywhere to have a "better experience. " I asked Pro Life protesters if they understood this a package deal -- no social programs is the other half. They were shocked.
My unpopular opinions are:
1. I don't like anything mint flavored
2. Not every reader likes Harry Potter
3. California is not filled with hipsters (seriously, stop believing everything the TV says)
*Everyone else after reading this: Load the cannons! Fill them with tomatoes and aim at the downvote button! 3, 2, 1, FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!* Seriously guys, I know this is going to happen but either way, I don't think everyone enjoys the Harry Potter novels.
I will say that I enjoyed reading Harry Potter to an extent, but it is by far not my favorite book. It's just an average story that only got popular since it was one of the first of its kind.
All sports are boring, unless they involve robots smashing each other into bits and then catching those bits on fire
Try ice hockey. It's never boring, and there's always at least one fight per game.
When people think of gender equality people just assume that it is about females not getting the same rights as males. But it is more than that. Men also have plenty of issues. I remember getting annoyed to the brink of crying when I was a child in primary school and a girl came up to me, instead of comforting me. Guess what. She told me that her dad told her men don't cry. I know, for a fact that that was wrong.
Your points are not actually about gender equality, but gender stereotypes.
I would like to see the return of the death penalty in SA. For first degree murder and rape, there should be no other option. This flies directly in contravention of my religious belief that only God should take a life, but there are people in the world that do not deserve to live. I shouldn't judge, but I am human, and I do.
Chocolate ice cream isnt that good
I don't think Jesus was born on Christmas.
As a Christian, I think the majority of Christians acknowledge that Jesus was probably not born on 25 December. We don't think the specific date is the important part.
I really don't like soda. It hurts my throat.
If you leave a bottle open for a while it doesn't hurt your throat as much
my other unpopular opinion is that people of childbearing age should be licensed to have kids. So many parents are in no way qualified to have that position. Parenting is much more difficult than driving a car and way more difficult than being a food handler but there is zero requirements (except for the ability to have unprotected sex).
My unpopular OPINION.... is that there are two genders. Male / Female, that's it. Now I will say, I really don't care if you want to switch when you're older, that's your prerogative. But what kills me is when parents allow their minor children whom haven't even gone through puberty yet do this. Let them be done growing and their hormones even out and THEN if they want to make the change, go for it. But please stop allowing your 4 year old get a VERY invasive body altering surgery. Also stop saying you identify with a friggin plastic hamster that has it's own babies. (sarcasm obviously) you have a uterus or you don't. You have male genatilia or you don't. You are not an "it" or a "Them" (them is a reference to more than one) Every time I hear the word Binary I want to ask if they are made from 0's and 1's.
I agree with this opinion, yet I still respect the LGBTQ+ community
First, let me say, I love dogs. I like cats too, but dogs are my favorite pet to have. However, I hate seeing how some people treat their dogs. First, I hate seeing dogs in clothes (they are born with the covering they need) and being treated like, or even better, than children. I don't like the idea of a dog sleeping in my bed. Maybe it's because I let them do their doggie thing and I I've seen the things they do --- things that come natural to them. People justify this by saying they bathe their dogs regularly--- but too much bathing is not good for their skin. Or they restrict their every movement, often working against the dog's natural instincts.
Some people feed their dog better than they feed people. They give them people food with all the wrong nutrients. Then they whine over the high vet bills when the dogs need medical care for human-type illnesses.
Some people don't put in the time to train their dog just basic socially acceptable behavior, and then throw the dog away, because of its anti-social behavior. An undisciplined owner makes for an undisciplined pet.
They are animals and would be very good at it if humans didn't try to turn them into something else to fulfill some crazy human need of theirs.
I agree with everything except the clothes, they like everything have a time and place. If you are going to take your dog out for a walk at -20c, it's only proper that if the dog doesn't have a thick enough coat, to give them a coat and boots. If it's for the dogs health and comfort, then it's a good thing.
I HATE professional sport, and it should be abolished. First, I am not a sporty person at all, so I just find sports very boring. I understand that some might find it interesting to follow sport. I think that if people want to play sports, that's fine. But professionally? Absolutely not. It's got to be one of the biggest wastes of money ever. In a single year, in the US alone, $100 billion was spent on sports. How is this okay? Or, every time the Olympics roll around, they build a new stadium. Every four years, a massive new stadium, that costs more than a billion dollars. Then there's how much the athletes get paid. Roger Federer's networth is $450 million just for hitting a ball over a net. While most doctors and teachers are broke. Not to mention the costs of travel, uniforms, equipment, etc. The professional sports industry is huge, and it wastes so much money! If you want to play sports for fun at your local stadium then fine, but I think the professional sport industry should not exist.
I just want to say(even though it has nothing to do with the thread really), love is love and nobody can fight that.
I don’t think that lying to kids about mythology figures, like Santa, is good. Parenting should never be based on lies. Kids should be able to trust their parents. Kids can still enjoy Xmas without believing in Santa, like celebrating their love for their family and sharing presents as a way to express that love.
Yes! I never believed in Santa. When I was little my parents essentially told me about the lore behind Santa and so on, but that he wasn't real. We still did things like stockings, but we always knew it was mum and dad who filled them. This never took away any enjoyment, and in hindsight I'm quite glad that I never was told about an imaginary man in a red suit by my parents, only for them to tell me later it was made up. So I definitely agree
White chocolate is f*****g delicious (creamy, tasty, goes great with everything) and dark chocolate (bitter, hard, wouldn't taste good even if it was blessed by julia child herself) can burn in a dumpster fire
Winning second is so much worse than third. When your third, you think that it was a long shot anyway and its no big deal. But when your second, all you can think about is how close you were to being first, as it slowly chips away at your soul. This is the case for me so I dunno.
Showering at a nice hotel is a million times more comforting than showering at home. It sounds strange but it just feels so nice.
This may be contreversial but... Cats the musical is overreated. Sorry to offend.
Candidates for governmental positions should be analysed for their history and current values so that anyone who is deemed to be unethical/ corrupt would never be allowed to stand.
I wish people did not judge the world so harshly. I wish for understanding and acceptance of our differences. People who disagree with are not insane or stupid. For a truly interesting discussion, ask them to explain -- in a compassionate, non judgemental way. "I don't understand this. Could you tell me more?" Don't expect to understand, it will add more information to something you are interested in. Increase the depth of your knowledge on the issue. You will not understand, unless you know the otherwise. It will help you play well with others.
Thank you. I think more people need to read this, but most BP members don't seem to scroll down this far.
I think cars should be banned in Los Angeles. Millions of people on the roads everyday with only 1 person in them. (Or at least ticket every car on the road with less than 4 people in it.) It is so stupid when we are at the tipping point. Electric vehicles required for all commercial transportation, company cars, fleets. Just sayin.
Imagine there was a fleet of self driving cars. Imagine everyone had a phone with free internet. Imagine you could call up one of these cars to pick you up to take you to work. Imagine it made a couple of quick stops on the way to pick up other people on their way. Something like 95% of the time our cars sit useless in our driveways and garages. Imagine if nobody had private cars, and the self-driving cars were almost always on the road moving people to where they wanted to go. Think of all the parks and community gardens we could build out of all the parking lots and apartments, stores and offices out of all the parking garages :)
My unpopular opinion is that animals are completely separate from humans because humans said so. That is like saying that fleas are the best living things on the planet because all of the fleas agreed. I think people might say it because in the Bible it says that people are superior to animals, but if you think that, then why did god make animals with souls? ANIMAL CRUELTY NEEDS TO STOP! 🐶🐱🐭🐹🐰🦊🐻🐼🐨🐯🦁🐮🐷🐸🐵🐔🐧🐦🐤🦆🦅🦉🦇🐺🐗🐴🐢🐍🦎🐙🦐🦞🦀🐡🐠🐟🐬🐳🐋🦈🐊🐆🦓🦍🐘🦛🦏🐪🐫🦒🦘🐃🐂🐏🦙🐐🦌🐕🐩🐈🦃🦚🦜🦢🕊🐇🦝🦡🐁🐀🐿🦔
P.s: I am not saying that the entire world should become vegetarian, but for example, the chickens we eat need to be taken better care of. They need at least a little bit of their own space, I say that we need 1 square foot per chicken so that they can actually move.
It's funny bc "Cage Free" eggs still come from overpopulated plants. Must say "Humanely Raised". However, you have to respect not everyone has that luxury. If you need to eat, you buy the cheapest eggs if you're lucky enough to have the luxury of protein.
Netflix is trash, there's nothing good on it anymore
I've been using someone else's account for years. I'm not complaining.
Comic Sans font is ok. I don't understand why some people complain about it so much. Where did this mindset come from? It's there to be used from a choice of hundreds, so why not choose it sometimes? Maybe if it was called something else, like, Perfect Font then fewer people would complain about it.
Candy corn is gross
Those people who comment "just covering up the comment below!" just make people curious to look at it. If you don't want a mean comment to be the first one, then just comment something nice. If the comment is already mean, it will still say "The comment is hidden. Click here to view"
Yeah, whenever people do that it just makes me curious to look at the other comment and then I get disappointed in humanity.
My unpopular opinion is:
1. If you don't have a reproductive system, you can't have a say on what women do or don't do with theirs
2. abortions should be made legal everywhere
It amuses me to think how this "debate" would change if men could get pregnant, too.
It's not OK to group everyone into one of two groups based on their words and/or appearances. Stop dissecting every word people say (especially behind your computer trenchs) in order to place them into a left or right affiliation. There is a huge gray area most of us live in.
Having a baby is not a right, and we're already too many on this planet to live sustainably.
Yeah, it's about like saying "Competing in the Olympics is a right (talent, skill, discipline, and so on notwithstanding).
Cops are the good guys. I still believe the police force needs vast, rudimentary changes, but my first reaction towards police is the same reverence that most people have towards the military. I acknowledge that there are bad apples, and then there are bad apples spoiling the bunch, and then there are bad apples in charge of the bunch that breeds systemic issues and an insane cycle of arrests and dehumanizing punishments....while often overlooking and even exacerbating the issues at heart. Still, I honestly believe there are mostly good, noble people who take on those roles and do honest work and want to help the community and take pride when they can actually perform a role of protection and leadership for people. I also believe they really are putting their lives at risk in doing this, and yet will be treated like enemies enough that it will make them more like enemies. I feel like neither the government not the populace is taking care of its good guys, and that's forcing and allowing more of them to become the bad guys.
Despite c19/2020, we live in the best human era EVER!
I am glad to live now than at any previous time in history. There "good old days' never were.
Speaking as a 55+ here
Yeah, when I think of this type of thing I'm grateful that at the very least I wasn't born during medieval times when sadistic torture was common punishment for normal human behavior 😅
Perhaps the most Unpopular Opinions ever ~ made all the more valid by the responses directed to a large swath of OPs...
1) It is entirely possible to read something on the internet that you disagree with & just scroll right on by, without responding.
*AND*
2) If a response is made, it is also entirely possible to disagree with someone without being disagreeable.
Thanks Pandas! :)
Social media are really bad for us (yea, I know I'm kinda hipocritical right now). Like, way wors than we imagine. I did quit facebook, insta etc. (I was already using them very rarely, a glimpse one or two times a day) two years ago. After a month of a withdrawal symptoms I noticed how much it altered my entire thinking and percieving reality. Finally i felt grounded, half of my anxciety was gone. After another month I noticed how my abbility to critically think and talk to people is slowly coming back to "normal".
I don't think social media are some evil conspiracy and we should fear them. We simply adjusted to this form of communication and consumption of information and it kinda crippled our way od thinking and our conversation skills.
There are many studies that agree with this. Social media can have such a negative effect on the human psyche, especially the still forming brains of pre-teens and teenagers.
I hate when people say: This singer/comedian... is famous because of the fans who buy their stuff. You are right BUT these people don't own you anything. If they don't want to be friendly all the time with everybody it's their right. They sell stuff you have the choice to buy or not. As your baker doesn't own you anything because of the fact you are one of his customer, the singer your are fan of is exactly the same.
I don't agreed with the 3rd wave feminist, I think that's the wave, the Uber extreme 'all men are crap' wave. Since I was born with a uterus a lot of them think I should jump on their bandwagon of 'one of us' and I don't. Do I agree with some of the feminists, yes, but stop bashing all men. Are some men mysognists, yes, but not all of them. I've met all kinds of people in my life and quite frankly the ones that scream about anything with a d**k like 'That Vegan Teacher's screams about meat consumption are the same level of toxic. Yes, things need to change but not like that.
Mine is that we humans are rightfully damned to get screwed by each other and / or by Mother Earth (through disasters etc.) and that an upcoming extinction of humankind is unavoidable. No, I'm not a religious, old testamential person or someone who believes in something like Apocalypse, but just watching others, reading news and experiencing some really effed up s**t during "CoVid era" in particular does not give me much hope for the future (nevertheless I tell my kids to always look for the good in people, be caring, listen to others and trying to be as empathetic as possible). It hurts the most when thinking about my kids in regard of that huge pile of s**t we will leave behind for them to cope with...
We're bringing it down on ourselves. COVID-19 is just the first of the chickens that has come home to roost.
I just really like onions.
Marijuana should have been decriminalized in the states, instead of "recreationalized," which is just a way for the government to impose taxes, just like they did to alcohal after prohibition.
I'm not sure if people actually believe this but in Australia we don't eat kangaroos. Not many people live in the outback, we live in cities and not everybody has a strong Aussie accent
1) Beyoncé is overrated ( Don't go hard on me Beyoncé fans It is just my opinion )
2) Strawberries are disgusting and get more credit than they deserve.
3) I don’t like Nutella. It's not even that good if you think about it deeply.
Thank goodness we live in a world that gives a choice not to eat things. I was incredibly happy to hear there is a chance soy could increase the possibility my cancer could return. So tired of people telling me I would like tofu is prepared in a certain way. I have tried it far too often and I don't like it. Now I have an excuse that ends the conversation. I don't like tofu.
Not all religions are equal. Some are actually awful, but many provide the support and assistance a community needs. The Jewish Community Centers are a perfect example. People here focus on the bad apples, the grumpy woman helping with a church event, means we should never donate to a religious organization. Is this how you judge the world? Few large organizations don't have corruption, greed, and bad apples. Unfortunately it is a part of being human. Some people control it better than others. Please judge the world equally. Instead of focusing on the individual bad examples, look at the many, many positive aspects of organized religion.
Interesting point of view. A lot of churches, and voluntary organisations, are mainly run by a few people who work very hard - including that grumpy woman - and sometimes they cannot stop doing that job because there is no-one to take their place.
Well I don't like chocolate?
I also don't like sweet and salted popcorn, only each on its own. I'm not sure why.
Oh, and yes most of my opinions are all on food, unpopular and popular.
I used to like caramel popcorn but now I can't stand it. I do love chocolate popcorn, though.
Monogamy isn't for everyone. That it's possible to maintain different relationships with different people, who provide different things in a person's life, as long as all parties are honest about who they are seeing and sleeping with (for health reasons, as much as anything), and that everyone consents to what happens.
There is a lot of evidence that humans might have been polygamous (both women and men having free sex, not harems) in origin. First most primates are polygamous, chimpanzees and Bonobos are (and they are the closest to us), men’s testicles are more similar in size (proportion with body size) with polygamous mammals and we have a very small sexual dyphormism compared to animals that practice other strategies.
Religion has always done more harm than good, throughout history.
-Religion is overrated and some of them make no sense
-Not all LGBTQ+ people are good and not all homophobes are bad
-no one should be offended by the term "queer" it's an umbrella term
-Everyone is biased against some group of people, don't deny it. stereotypes are inevitable and you can't go around them so just acknowledge when you're being prejudiced and try to be better.
I don't consider myself a religious person, but I think it's rude to bash all religions as a whole. Religion brings comfort, as does not having religion, and as long as people keep it to themselves and don't force it onto anyone, let them be part of whatever religion they please.
I have a couple opinions that are probably gonna be really unpopular. First of all, I hate ham and snickers candy bar because they are both really salty, I don't like many salty foods. My second unpopular-ish opinion is I LOVE dad jokes. These jokes are just funny, I love them. My third and final opinion is that parents shouldn't influence their kids when it comes to LGBTQ. Let them make their own opinions on this wonderful community.
Upvote for the dad jokes. Downvote for the snickers. Upvote for the glbtq. Ham is a wash. Net total = 1 upvote.
Don't hate me. Coconuts are gross and inedible, but that's just my taste opinion.
I firmly believe that NO politician anywhere actually understands the concept of the Protest Vote. Protest votes happen anywhere where free elections take place. For example, some voters would have voted for Mr Biden just to vote AGAINST Mr trump. In fact they would have voted for anyone just to vote against Mr Trump - They would even vote for Biden's dog if that was allowed.
If forced to accept there was ever a protest vote, they would say that it's only a tiny proportion of the vote. I believe that protest vote is always very large!
I'd vote for a glass of water over Trump; it would likely pay better attention to medical science and intelligence briefings.
I think religion is bs and just a way to manipulate ppl and get away with illegal things. I also think it's wrong to force religion onto children. let them decide what they want to be. I also think cats are better than dogs, sorry.
ps christians,
jesus was jewish if u didnt know
Attributed to Ghandi: " I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
In Aladdin 2019 the best part if the movie is Arabian Nights.
My unpopular opinion is that that when Bored Panda creates threads like this, shaming the OP in the comments probably shouldn’t be a thing, even if you don’t agree with the post. The description for the thread even said, “no shame”. So, maybe not cool of Bored Panda to create a thread like this where they know people are going to stir up stuff?
I mean, I think we're all a community here, and are kind to each other the majority of the time. While I think that people DO need to be more gentle with each other in the comments, I don't think this is BP's fault. And it's okay to share opinions. it's okay to disagree with people. And as long as it's respectful, it's okay to debate. Just my opinion though. Happy holidays!
I hate avocado and any food that contains avocado including guacamole (I don't care who makes it, no one can make a guacamole I like.) The texture is gross and the color looks like something that was eaten several hours before.
It’s one of those foods that people either love or hate.... like feta cheese, olives, cilantro, black liquorice, pickles and more. I love all of these including avocado
Doodles are just overpriced mutts. And there ain’t no breed of dog that won’t give some people allergies
I first thought of doodle as the quick/simple drawing kind of doodle before remembering there's the poodle mix kind as well.
No person, male or female, has a RIGHT to have sex.
I think Dumbledore is a quack. He knowingly left Harry in an abusive home, repeatedly hired unqualified teachers who put the students in danger/were cruel to them, played favorites, left Harry, Ron, and Hermione do dangerous things and break the rules and then rewarded them for it. Plus, in Goblet of Fire, he had the whole school come and watch a lake for and hour, wth??
I'm not sure if it is an unpopular opinion but if you look past at believing God and actually look at Christianity and how to works, it has so many flaws and loop holes that some Christians take advantage of. And as a Christian, i don't think God would agree with some of the teachings in the bible.
You make no sense, the bible is the supposed word of god. He told the prophets what to write so how would he not agree with his own opinions?
There are nearly 8 *billion* people on the planet. It's WAY past time to let Darwin have some input when people don't or won't use their brains or be responsible.
Want to ride a motorcycle with no helmet? Yup, your choice - doesn't mean the hospital has to waste time/money on you when you wreck, though. Go exploring/camping unprepared? You're on the hook for any rescue efforts. Your country or society or culture is oppressive? Stay THERE and _fix_ it, instead of running away and becoming some else's problem (you likely outnumber the troublemakers by thousands-to-one). Equality of opportunity does NOT equate to equality of RESULTS (what kind of sick, sadistic git wants to hobble someone else instead of improving themselves?)
Bottom line? If people want to be free to close, they should be held responsible for those choices; if they don't want others bossing them around, they don't get to control anyone else (particularly religions!).
I agree with you about motorbikes, exploring, camping, etc. The other issues are far more complicated.
Truth is not subjective.
The statement that there is not such thing as absolute truth is an oxymoron. The statement itself is an absolute.
The Shawshank Redemption is overrated.
It is not the best movie of all times. Not the best prison movie either. Not even the best 20th century American prison movie with Morgan Freeman playing a prisoner (that is Brubaker).
I DON'T LIKE UNDERTALE. welp, I'm gonna get blasted for that.....But earthbound is 600 times better. Stop saying undertale is the, "RPG masterpeice". IT FREAKING STOLE THAT TITLE!!!!! >:(
I don't care if this gets downvoted.
Chocolate chips and applesauce is the best food combination.
Hmm, haven't tried it but it isn't the worst food combination I've heard of.
I despise the movie ”Gladiator”.
"My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions and loyal servant to the TRUE emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next."
Religion is BS.
I say people can believe what they want to believe. I'm not religious myself, but I think that people who are should not be shamed for it.
The billionaires of the world need to help the people of this world a heck of a lot more.
When was the last time you got a job from a poor person? Go ahead, I'll wait...
I hate when people call their pets their fur babies, or refer to them as their kids. I have 2 cats, yes they are part of the family, yes they get Christmas & birthday gifts however that's because they're part of the family, not children. My cats are both individual adults.
The whole "pet parent" thing rankles me, too. A parent is someone who prepares a dependent child to function competently as an independent and interdependent adult. The term "pet parent" diminishes that necessary and arduous endeavor.
Absolutely no one will know what I am talking about but I think in the Moulin Rouge musical, Amber Ardolino was a better Satine than Karen Olivio. Karen is a goddess and her voice is incredible but I feel like it overpowers Aaron Tveit's voice and you cannot hear them singing together just her, which would be fine but Aaron Tveit also has the voice of an angel. Amber Ardolino doesn't have the recognition deserves either even though she was in Hamilton in the ensemble and Peggy's understudy.
Sorry but I only know the Nicole Kidman version. YouTubing this now actually
The Legend of Korra is better than Avatar the Last Airbender! Love both tho 💛
Mine is: Boredpanda shouldn't take points off you just because people downvoted your comment. Some people downvote to show how much they disagree. Why does Boredpanda side with disagreers per se?
They do this (I feel like, at least) because it is still 'points'. There will be "penalties", so they count all the points, even the negative amounts on comments. If they didn't count downvotes then I feel like they wouldn't include an option to downvote. Also there are some people that come just to tear people down, and downvoting is something to handle that, hence the "this comment is hidden. click to view". So I don't think they side with anyone; they are just making it fair.
Personally i think guns are cool... i don't mean to kill people or whatever but just hitting targets...
You aren't allowed to get "regular sick" anymore. Everything is COVID...from sinus infections to cancer.
Some drugs should be illegal to sell but all drugs should be legal to take.
The criminalization of drug dependency gets in the way rehabilitation.
In college, I started graduate school for biochemistry (with an emphasis on genetic research). Cancer runs in my family and I felt driven to try to be at the forefront of researching a cure. In one of my classes we were studying epidemiology and the Spanish Flu. Part of our discussion was how much larger the population would have been if it never occurred (and this was 12 years ago or so). As population grows, the rate of growth is exponential (this is common sense to most people). However, what most people don't consider is that because of this, as population grows, things like resource-shortages and chance of global pandemics grow exponentially as well. The more I studied the figures, the more I felt conflicted. Probability-wise, cancer predominantly affects older people (I know there are exceptions depending on type), but famine, drought, and pandemics tend to have a higher probability of being fatal to the young as well. I realized that if you could cure cancer, the majority demographic to be better off would be the elderly. This would also mean that infrastructure (like medicine, social security, and care) would become extremely taxed, and that burden would fall on younger generations. The real critical point though is that when I looked at the numbers, it seemed most likely that if you saved "X"-amount of cancer patients, it would eventually lead to a lot more deaths than "X", as well as a lower quality of life for everyone in general. I began to become convinced that if we cure cancer before we tarraform and colonize Mars, it would likely be the greatest contributing factor to the essential breakdown of society and an abrupt stagnation of tech and science development (with most resources having to be used just to slow down pollution, funding care for people who can no longer contribute to society, and finding/gathering food/water). I won't say that curing cancer is the wrong move, but I just couldn't argue it was the right move without more information or accounting for unknowns. So I quit my program, because I realized I couldn't be the person to potentially make that call. I've tried to explain my logic to people, but most don't understand, or just disagree and call me a monster. I'm not sure what's right, but I am utterly confident that the biggest issue humanity will face in the next century will be an unsustainable population, and all the complications that result from that.
We are keeping people alive who at any other time in history would not be alive . . . and then they breed. There is a quality of life issue . . .
Unpopular opinion: We're all hoping our comment will get a bunch of upvotes and/or worried that a troll will leave a nasty comment.
Dark mode is horrible.
Eat cereal dry then drink milk.
See, I grew up drinking a glass of milk with every breakfast. I also grew up eating cereal dry. When I heard about the milk first or after debate, I was so confused but there's my answer.
Drinking milk is gross. Actually, milk is only good in cheese, baked goods, and coffee. Pretty much nothing else. I get in trouble for eating cereal dry, but the alternative... ewwww.
I think that WataWatachi is great! Why do people hate WataWatachi?
The Princess Bride is overrated. It is incredibly boring.
I LOVE DESTRUCTION!
I LOVE a building implosion . . . any kind of BIG demolition job is a joy to watch!
Chocolate takes horrible. It is bitter. What people like is the fat and the sugar. If not for the sugar, they would not like that horribly bitter terrible substance called chocolate. When you are eating chocolate, you are just covering up the shitty bitterness with the whole lot of sugar. If you like sugar so much, just say so! but no, people pretend that they like chocolate, but they would never eat it without sugar now, would they?
I lost ability to taste chocolate after COVID. I am so lucky. It could have been much worse.
My unpopular opinion is: when you have a chronic disease you don't have to kill yourself. I learn that in this thread. It is an unpopular opinion. I didn't knew it.
Ancient Greece have too much in common with Indian civilization(The South Asian one, not the America) and the european prechristan civilizations as well.
Creepypasta related one. I personally think that each of the Proxies has a different element.
I dont understand this post or comment. I know what creepypasta are but... dont get this one. Anyone?
Your name is not important. I think people who go like "My name is Sarantulapagodopulofski and you should pronounce it as Geriandrimysuperiofskaya" are narcissistic. A name is a just a label, and if it it difficult for other to pronounce, make it simple. When people say things like, "Well, if you can learn to pronounce Chaikovsky and Michelangelo, you can pronounce Geriandrimysuperiofsky", I think to myself "When your achievement are comparable to those of Chaikovsky and Michelangelo, I am sure we will learn to pronounce it. In the meantime, I would like to call you Bob".
Best regards,
Yaroslavna Vladimirovna Kadulina,
aka Yara or whatever you feel like calling me, it does not change who I am.
My name is my name. I didn't pick it. I'm not a narcissist for not coming when you call someone else's name.
The death penalty should be more common and there should be no "life sentence" in prison. Death is a part of life and perhaps after death a new life will come. Regardless, "life" in prison is helping no one. To those that will argue the expense, a bullet is cheap. To those who argue of the personal growth for which life in prison gives the opportunity; I say that growth happens quickly in a time crunch, and that lots of time and no hope for anything better is more likely to foster degeneration than growth.
Look at it this way, would you rather take the easy way out of your crimes or have to live your life in a dirty, cold jail cell for the rest of your life.
I don't things dogs should walk on leashes. There should be an other type of device or thing that you could use to walk your dog but leashes sometimes the human can pull and it could hurt the dog so I just don't agree with that.
This goes back to the post about training animals to do what the humans want. I think dogs should be on leashes but the dogs and owners should be taught to use them properly.
Unpopular opinion: BP shouldn't have created this thread at all. "Unpopular opinion" threads are just excuses to launch your stupid homophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism, etc into existence. And we could all do with the non-existence of a few of these posts.
Hetes mine: I hate all the using" KAREN" as an insult. Its rude and kind of being a bully. Say" entitled bitch" not " Karen". The meme was ok but i literally see this all day every day. Enough. No my names not Karen but God forbid some sympathy for those who are Karens??
Completely agree Candy. It is bullying, lacks empathy to those who share the name & displays the detached nature of of our culture. I give you TEN VOTES!
Load More Replies...I just realized, the least upvoted post here is actually the most unpopular opinion 😅
That's because some ideas aren´t just unpopular but plain stupid.
Load More Replies...This thread really highlights the echo chamber effect. BP asked people to post their unpopular opinion, then they get downvoted for being open and following the prompt. So now the most popular opinions win the unpopular opinions thread....nice way to discourage discourse. Sorry to anyone being downvoted into silence. I hope you're still willing to share your opinions while also accepting challenges to them!
It's really strange and ironic. They ask for people's UNPOPULAR opinion. Then they downvote it. I really don't understand.
