Life is full of hard lessons. What life lesson have you learned the hard way that you can share with the group so they don't have to find it out in the way that you had to?

In middle school, I thought I had my social life perfected. I had a lot of friends that I would hang out with, help with schoolwork, and have fun. I thought the whole pov that middle school was the worst was fictional.
I went to a K12, and 3/4 of my 8th grade class decided to move to another school in the district for high school, including all of my friends. I was sad, but we all said that we would keep in touch.
Fast forward to a few weeks into freshman year, I had only been keeping in contact with one friend and that was only because I had to take a bus transfer to her school to get home. With help of new friends I met, I realized that most of them were using me because I am smart and would help them with their homework if they were friends with me. Once they didn't need my help, I was cast aside.
I realized two things that year:
1. Nothing stays the same forever. Accept the change and move on.
2. Not everyone is willing to be your friend, and people will hurt you to get what they want.
Thankfully I found friends who are actually my friends and I love them. I'm fine now, but it took me a while to heal.
There’s a difference between being friends and friendly. And you can choose which one it is. Don’t force yourself into a friendship that you don’t want. I constantly think about this during school because there’s so many forced interactions
That there are energy vampires that suck the energy from everyone around them. They take and take but never give back. Stay away from them. And it is possible to protect yourself from them if you stop giving a f___.
Oh, I was married to one. And his whole family was like that as well. They sucked the life from me until I had an emotional breakdown and put them in my past.
Do things because they make you happy, not because you are good at them. I learned it from Perfume on She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.
