Looking for couples that buck the trend. For me, Morticia and Gomez Addams are the perfect example. They were supposed to be a parody of the suburbanite married couple, but were obviously in love, respected each other, and raised their children to have their own desires and personalities.

Thelma & Louise
THELMA: Shoot the radio. LOUISE: THELMA: The *police* radio, Louise. LOUISE: . . . . Got it. The trailer made one believe this was a rowdy, buddy/road-trip film. Well, Thelma & Louise were buddies on a road trip, and it's a fun movie. Very funny, quite entertaining, and . . . . At about 20 minutes in (I think), we see that the two are more than buddies. No spoilers here; all I'll say is that no, they're not lesbians. Also: this film was made 30 years ago! Extraneous Oscar Trivia: When she accepted her Oscar for Best Original Screenplay of 1991, Callie Khouri said, "Well, for everybody that wanted to see a happy ending for Thelma & Louise, to me this is it."
