My favorite Christmas tradition is sadly a faded memory.
In the golden years, I used to sit with my family and scroll through BoredPanda without content being hidden and the website trying to get me to buy premium like a mob of Jehovah's Witnesses on meth.
For me it's watching A Muppet Christmas Carol.
Watching the Peanuts Christmas special. Love Charlie Brown's little tree.
I live alone. I don't celebrate Christmas. it's great. Would recommend.
Nothing like a zero stress holiday! People in general stress me out, but none more than family.
Singing Christmas carols with my father. He is 86 and in the early stages of dementia, so I am going to keep doing for as many Christmas as I can. Seize the day, people...
My grandmother would remind us every year that this year could be her last Christmas. I always went and spent the time with her but asked for information rather than gifts. We went through photo albums and she explained how we were related to those pictured and provided anecdotes for each. I wish I had recorded these stories! My notes don't do them justice and I no longer have the opportunity to spend the time with my late, funny, grouchy grandmother...
Watching National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story!
Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding on Christmas Day
I roast a beef tenderloin and spuds. Sides are After Eight chocolates and a bottle of bubbly
A few beers and a barbeque to celebrate the birth of Santa. 🎅
watching the movie Second Hand Lion.
I like this movie and it's on my watch list again. There's just something about it - probably the two quirky men who don't care what the rest of the world thinks about them.
Having the day off.
Making potato gnocchi and Bolognese sauce for Christmas Eve dinner.
Watching Little Lord Fauntleroy and decorating the Christmas tree on the 23rd
The nerf war, no I will not elaborate but it is a neighborhood thing.
Playing Resident Evil 4 (2005) and eating all kinds of baked goods only available in this season.
Christmas eve my family and I celebrate the birthday of Jesus, death dinner then open presents. Since my nephew was born it has gotten more special
Napping with the dogs. Phone on flight mode
Have Christmas dinner with my mom.
Watching Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket is another tradition I'm going to start. It is an anime that happens during Christmas time, lol.
don't really have a christmas tradition anymore due to having my grandmother pass on christmas eve in 1997 and then my mom on the same date a few years ago. it has been hard to do anything traditional but thankfully we don't have any little ones that need that magical essence. but, at one time, when the youngest in the family finally realized that santa wasn't 'real' we would have a 'ceremony' that included a solemn oath never to reveal that to any of the young kids they came in contact with. to my knowledge, not one leaked the info. the other one was having one or two drinks and then having a few of us climb on the roof, stomp a bit, ring some sleigh bells, and plant some very obvious footprints. one year my son added chocolate covered raisins to the reindeer trail as scat to 'prove' santa had been there. in all the years only one time did my dad fall off the roof which we considered pretty good.
Memories... My grandmother died the day after Christmas, then one of my uncles, his wife & their three young sons were all killed by a drunk driver on Christmas Eve 50 yrs. ago. Christmas time wasn't as merry after that. But the family tries to create & keep happier memories going. I'd just like to ask everyone who sees this, to Please don't drive impaired, and don't let friends or family drive impaired. Give them a ride, or take their keys, let them be mad at you, theyll get over it. You may very well be saving their life and the lives of innocent people, too.
Watching The Hogfather. Also, having a cooked brekky with my son, daughter-in-law and grandkids on Boxing Day morning whilst skyping with my daughter and her hubby and new baby in Canada which is their Christmas Day dinnertime. Family together (sort of)
As kids we used to hide Star Wars figures in the Christmas tree.
I celebrate both Hannukah and Christmas since my Mom's side is Jewish while my Dad's side is Catholic. Normally for my family, bigger gifts are for Christmas while Hannukah has it so some gifts are small and could build up to larger gifts in the latter nights!
We had 3 Christmas'. My family, German heritage, would have a meal and then open presents, my brother's family would sometimes come depending on where my brother was sataioned at the time. After I got married, we would have our Christmas morning present opening, and then we would go to my husband's parents for more gift openings and a big Christmas dinner. As our parents aged, we went from Christmas Eve dinner to a Deli platter of meat, cheeses, dips, and cheese balls. My mom died on 12/20/2010 so that was a bummer year but still went by to be with my Dad. Found my MIL dead on 12/23/2015, so that Christmas sucked, my husband threatened my dad that if he died close to Christmas he, my husband, would haunt him in reverse (he died in Sept). This year I fell and tore my Achilles tendon so Thanksgiving and our son's birthday weren't much fun, going to have stuff I got for Thanksgiving for Christmas dinner, it should be fun trying to get a bigger meal while rolling around in my kitchen chair
