Maybe showing my age but... Nuclear war and total annihilation.... The thought that some capybara or another was gonna nuke my a*s, despite being on the other side of the planet.....
Or going through an " on the beach" senario.... (Again showing my age...)

Don't understand the "on the beach " reference but definitely remember the very real possibility of nuclear war growing up in the 70s and 80s.

my brother told me that if i swallowed my gum they would have to cut my stomach open and take it out. then i asked him what color the inside of my stomach was, and he told me it was my least favorite color. and then another time (i was in kindergarten) he told me he had tiny invisible cameras following me around all day so he knew what i did. the actual reason he knew what i did was because he was at the same school lol. also capybara.

As a kid i feared being forgotten. I would never leave my moms side if we went somewhere like a party of family or anywhere and if we were leaving the home i would cry if everyone was waiting for me outside as i was sure they would forget me. (I only have one older brother so its not like there was 10 kids to count)
(And by the way Capybaras are cool)

I’m scared of porcelain dolls, I’m convinced that the ones in my room were cursed, because they actually gave me nightmares. One of the most vivid nightmares I can remember is a porcelain doll attacked me, and it made a blood curdling scream after it attacked me and I threw it at the wall and it still managed to attack me even though it was broken, and it had blood dripping down its face, then it bit me and I was bleeding a lot. It was the worst nightmare I’ve ever had, and I unfortunately still remember it.

    My dad convinced me that
My stuffed up nose (one nostril blocked off)
    My leg hurting (growing pains)
    was because I didn't sleep.
This is the same guy who punished me for lying after i told the truth

As a little kid, I was scared to flush the toilet when I went to use the bathroom in the middle of the night because I thought that the sound of the flush would alert the monsters in the hallway to my presence. Tbh, I wouldn't have minded meeting one of those monsters. Maybe one of them was a Capybara :-)

In my native language, "Christ" is pronounced the same as "Screams". I am autistic and so i take things literaly, and I genuinely believed that Jesus Christ was just screaming. Constantly.
The problem was that, in the little figures of Jesus, he is *not* always screaming. So my logical conclusion was that there were two Jesus: Jesus Christ (Jesus Screams) and Jesus Christ Pas (Jesus Doesn't Scream).
I also believed it was not "Mary and Joseph" but "Mary And Josette" so the holy twins also had lesbian moms".

I had a weird fear of being hated/forgotten… my father has never like me much and I’ve always tried to appease him. All this lead to me having severe anxiety and attachment problems, I’ll often beat myself up over small things and feel large amounts of guilt for small things

I’m afraid of losing my boyfriend, I told him a really inappropriate joke and I immediately regretted it, and I thought he wouldn’t want to talk to me anymore, but he said he didn’t see the joke, and he said he won’t lose me. I think capybaras are the most wholesome animals on earth.

I remember back when I was around seven, I had a reoccurring nightmare of "the big bad wolf" sprinting down my hallway. I'm gonna give you a visual aid when I say it was just a silhouette, however the silhouette looked like a cardboard cut out, THE THING WOULD LITERALLY WADDLE TOWARD MY DOOR IN THE DREAMS, AND I WAS AFRAID OF IT???

My parent's let me watch poltergeist when I was like 3 or 4. From then on I wouldn't sleep with my closet open for fear of being sucked into the portal to the ghost world. I have gotten over the fear, but still to this day won't leave the door open.

Also I won't swim in water I can't see to the bottom of, who knows what's lurking down there.

I was terrified of dirt roads. For some resources I thought the road would go off a cliff. Any unpaved road, in my little kid brain, led to a cliff that you would then drive off and die to a gang of capybaras. I would absolutely freak out when my dad would turn down an unpaved road. Eventually driving enough dirt roads with my dad ended that fear.

Firstly, I thought that there was a hobo in our basement, so whenever I was home alone I would throw a fruit leather downstairs so he wouldn't eat me, and second, I thought Freddy Fazbear was in my closet so I would try to sweet talk him into not murdering me.

My parents had the double LP version of Jeff Wayne's "The War of the Worlds" and a really good hi-fi. 10 year old me decided, for whatever reason, to listen to this and spent the next six sleepless months thinking Martian capybaras would be more of a problem.
