We all have had really strong bonds with certain people. Who is or was that person for you?

For a long time it was with my old cat. She came to us when I was 10, discarded because she was taken from her mommy too early and given to a 3 year old that obviously did not work out. She chose me out of our family to be her person and loved me from day one like noone ever did. When she was 10 I went to uni and wanted her to have a vet check up. They messed up her - unnecessary - sedation for a bloodwork so bad she became brain damaged. After that she forgot everything, but she still remembered that we belong together and wouldn't leave my side. She lived for another 10 years and eventually fell asleep forever in my arms. I'm still wearing a tiny bit of her ashes around my neck in a butterfly medallion and light a candle for her every Sunday. It's been more than 11 years now. After 9 years I got two new cats and I love them dearly and spoil them to no end. But nobody can ever replace Guzmi. She was incredibly special and beautiful, grew up with me and responded to every flutter of my soul.
After her I was lucky enough to find that sort of connection with a human as well. It's been 8 years that my partner and I are together, and as cheesy as it sounds he completes me. He let me experience the kind of love that I did not think possible, where as grown a** adults we were standing in a bus stop crying like idiots because we had to be apart for 3 days. He's my new irreplaceable part and I'm grateful every day that he exists. We're not perfect, our relationship is not perfect, but we're perfect for each other.
This is the most beautiful story that I have ever read. Your kitty will always be with you because she is in your heart.
My best friend of 51 years. We met in 1970 in high school. We saw each other through just about everything you could think of.
Me and my best friend. Since we were 6 we had been through it all. From my coming out, to late night secrets on school camping trips. She was always there for me, until she wasn’t…
