From ripped jeans to shorts length, dress codes can be stupid.

It wasn't really a "strange" dress code, just one I didn't agree with:

A company I used to work had a stereotypical corporate 'wealth is image' attitude, all the while paying the lower level workers peanuts.
Their Christmas party invitations were sent out! We were to be having dinner and a party at an establishment used by the Queen herself!!! The dress code: 'Formal Dress' followed by a list of high-end designers and tailors that were "acceptable". Anyone not wearing approved labels would not be permitted entry.
Knowing that meant that most of workers would not be able to attend because they couldn't afford to get one of those dresses or suits, I tried to discuss it with the management, but they didn't give a s**t. So I decided it would be best to protest the event peacefully, in a way that would embarrass company.
I asked around everyone I knew and managed to borrow a Givenchy dress, which I wore. They tried to stop me getting in, they were not happy!
But I had followed all the rules to the letter.
I made sure to stay close to the CEO and every time I saw a camera, I made sure I was behind him.
Not one picture of the event made it into the newsletter!

At my lower school, no symbols/images that you couldn't cover with two fingers. (apparently it was a possible start of conflict) 🙄

For me, it was that shorts had to be fingertip length, like if you put your hands straight down. The people with long fingers/arms died of heat.

You couldn't wear flip flops, so lots of people wore slides

As a event technician I sometimes worked for a big forklift producing company. We had to wear long pants not because of safety reasons but because the head of marketing (a man) didn't like to see hairy legs.
However, if you'd shaved your legs you could wear shorts at work.
I wore long pants.
