Have a few:
Cancer survivors (more specifically; patients that have undergone a large treatment of chemotherapy) take longer to decay and make animals and insects sick.
In New York City, more people commit suicide than get murdered.
After death you still poop for a few days.
Dead men sometimes get an erection (If a man dies from hanging it's almost guaranteed).
Around 2.5K left handed people die each year using things designed for right handed people.
Have you heard of Coffin birth? You'll wish you hadn't, although it is rare nowadays.
If you've had an autopsy, when you get transported to the funeral parlour, your organs are usually in a separate [Hazmat] bag.
theres a bug that can shoot chemicals faster than a machine gun can shoot bullets, and the chemicals are much hotter than required to burn a person
Human flesh tastes like pork, and the most delicious part of the body is the eyeball. I am not a cannibal.
You can make a sword from the iron in human blood. It would take about 600 people to do so.
In 20 minutes, 8 hogs can eat an entire 200 pound human, bones and all.
That'll make a great exam question. If it takes 8 hogs 20mins to eat a 200 pound human, how log would it take 50 hogs?
If a dead body is to sink in a lake. A hole should be made in it.
Its due to the fact that microbes in the body consume the tissues and produce gases which make the body buoyant. So initially a body may sink but it will float in a time of some hours.
*Try at your own risk*
Some say that fingernails grow after death - this is not the case. What actually happens is that the skin underneath the fingernails gets pulled back, making it look like the fingernail has grown.
Secondly, according to cannibals, the part of the human body that they most enjoy eating is the eyeball.
Finally, the anxiety level and depression in most teenagers is the same as what would get you into an asylum in the 1900’s where you would be diagnosed as clinically insane :(
Ah just realised that the eyeball thing was mentioned in another entry, apologies
Forgot to mention this: In the past, medical hospitals would not have access to things like corpses for medical students to practise on. This was because it was actually illegal to use dead bodies for this purpose. The law eventually changed to allow people executed for murder to be used in medical school. This was hardly enough. This started a black market of selling bodies, mainly from ‘grave robbers’ who would steal freshly dug corpses and sell them to medical schools for sometimes what is worth £7000 today. Then a pair called William Burke and William Hare thought of a quicker way to get dead bodies - murder. Over the course of a few months, they rented a room to 15 people and killed every single one. They got caught by accidentally leaving a body in a room they were renting and actually William Hare framed William Burke for everything and was let off. Now the plot twist to the story: William Burke was of course charged with murder and was hanged, and was used by medical schools to dissect… he was a murderer after all! You can see his skeleton at the Anatomical Museum in Edinburgh.
I've heard of Burke and Hare but didn't know who they were so thank you.
That Los Angeles had some of the worst serial killers in the 80s.
It took 50+ years to decode the zodiac killers ciphers.
If you are buried in a very cold place your body is frozen and preserved therefore that you are still alive. Basically cryopreservation.
Being frozen is not the same as being alive. It's just not decomposing
Japanese honey bees' stingers can't pierce the exoskeleton of hornets or wasps, so if they are attacked, the bees will surround the wasps or hornets in "bee balls" and will vibrate their bodies to generate enough heat to literally cook the dangerous insects to death.
1. The engineers from Disney took one look at the fake skeletons that were initially brought in and thought that they weren’t creepy enough. This might be because prosthetics in the 1960s weren’t as convincing as they are now. To offer a more authentic experience, Disney engineers enlisted the help of the University of California Los Angeles’ anatomy department for real skeletons. Gradually, they replaced these real skeletons with fake ones, but many believe that real skeletons remain in the attraction. Either way, this creepy fact about the Pirates of the Caribbean ride is as fascinating as it is scary.
2. Wes Craven’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street” is based on a real story.
Director Craven revealed that the inspiration for the iconic slasher film came from a story he read from the LA Times: a boy was having disturbing nightmares and refused to sleep for days out of fear. The same night he succumbed to exhaustion, he died in his sleep, but not before screaming for help in the middle of the night because of his nightmares.
3. As many as 50 serial killers are on the loose in the United States.
This number is according to the FBI. However, some, including homicide archivist Thomas Hargrove, speculate that around 3,000 to 4,000 serial killers remain active in the country.
4. “The Devil’s Bible” exists, and it’s a contract between a monk and Satan.
Also known as Codex Gigas, “The Devil’s Bible” is the largest Latin manuscript known to the world. It contains a full-page portrait of Satan. People believe the manuscript contains the contract of a monk who sold his soul to Satan in the 13th century in order to escape execution.
5. More than 150 corpses occupy Mount Everest.
Plenty of creepy facts and horror stories surround the world’s tallest mountain, but one of the most horrifying facts about Mount Everest is that the bodies of over 150 dead hikers remain on the mountain, buried under deep snow.
Thank you so much for telling me about the Devils Bible. Gonna have to read that and the holy bible to compare the two.
A typo can kill you. If you write a typo in your legal documents, you can accidentally register yourself dead even though you're alive which can be very difficult cause you can't get an id so you can't get a job so you can't get money so you can't but food or shelter or register a hunting license to get food meaning you will actually die. Oh, and it's also very common, it happens to about 7,000-14,000 every year.
Every day, a person consumes around 1 to 2 cups of snot
People used hollowed human skulls as bowls and cups back in ancient England
King Charles II drank alcohol mixed with pulverized human skulls
More than 150 corpses occupy Mount Everest
eaten alive by mosquitos was an actual method of execution
Pine trees have proven that they can grow inside the body. Doctors recently went into surgery to remove what they thought was a tumour. It turned out to be a fir tree growing in the man’s lungs.
There was a chicken called Mike the Headless Chicken that lived for 18 months after its head was cut off.
Babies grow moustaches in the womb that then spread to cover their entire body in hair called Lanugo. The body hair keeps them warm and helps regulate body temperature. They shed it before birth.
You can actually fit all the planets in the Solar System in the space between the Earth and the Moon.
Wasn't there a campaign called Mike the headless chicken for president.
I listen to murder mystery podcasts and one of the most disturbing apart from Ed Gein and his human skin furniture 🤮 was an lady called Leonarda Cianciulli in italy who invited some other ladies over for tea, axe murdered them, made them into cakes, ate the cakes and shared them with neighbours 😱
i beg your pardon HOW TF DO YOU TURN A PERSON INTO A CAKE WTF AND GIVE THEM TO NEIGHBORS WHYYYYYY
1) The story of Dracula is based off of two real serial killers. The first one is Vlad the Impaler from Transylvania. He would slaughter entire villages(he had an army by the way, so maybe conqueror is a better word for him than serial killer) by impaling them with wooden stakes. He would then have a picnic in front of his victims, watching them die with pleasure. Sometimes, he even dipped his bread in their blood. The other one is the Countess of Bathory. She was a noblewoman who built a torture chamber in her castle. She tortured and killed about 80 girls in horrifying ways. Apparently, she believed that bathing in the blood of her virgin victims would keep her young and healthy.
2) The first victim of the electric chair was shocked with such a high charge that his organs and eyeballs melted.
3) The Witch of Buchenwald had bags, lampshades, and even furniture made out of human skin. Ilse Koch, the wife of a camp Kommandant during WW2 requested that inmates with interesting tattoos be killed so she could remove their skin and make furniture out of it.
5) Formaldehyde, a substance used to preserve dead bodies, is a very common ingredient in both nail polish and cigarettes. It is toxic to living people, but it regularly enters living bodies through nail beds and lungs.
6) Cannibalism is only illegal in Idaho. No other state has made an explicit law against it.
1: There is an ancient book full of strange symbols no one can translate. ...It's called the Voynich Manuscript and it's full of strange symbols,
drawings and letters. The drawings depict women, men and what looks like plants, but it's not clear what they're doing. The writing looks like a words, but it's not in any recognisable language. Some people think it's a text book for midwifes, or a recipe book. Others think it's a spell book, and some think it's a hoax! For years people have tried to figure out what it says, but no one has!
2:Horned Lizards squirt blood from their eyes
3:The Witchcraft act of 1735 was last used in 1944 on a woman called Helen Duncan was a woman who was accused of spying during WW2 because she somehow knew supposed secrets about the war.
4:Cockroaches can live without their heads for weeks
Yes, these resilient bugs have been known to survive weeks without their heads! Cockroaches are notoriously hardy bugs. The cockroach has a very different nervous system to us - they don't need their brains to do most of the work, so if they lose their heads, their nervous systems will keep working and keep the cockroach moving. They also won't die from blood loss as the blood clots at the neck. Sadly the cockroach will die eventually when it needs food and water. Clever...but gross.
When a person dies their body releases everything in their bladder and bowels as their sphincter muscles release. Don't ask me how I know this.
That in some cities, if you fall into a storm drain and drown, it's possible for your body to be pulled out and pulverized and no one would know because the process is automated. Furthermore, your parts could be sent to a plant, mixed with other debris and made into fertilizer if no one saw your bits.
i hope no k!llers are on here or they would be getting some ideas....
