Bit of a long question I know, but I'm very interested.

Was told that if I stayed out after the street lights turned on, the burgers would see me and follow me to the house to steal my toys

My mom smoked cigs with the windows rolled up and a bottle of old crow whiskey in the glove box.

My mom told me a woman is either beautiful, smart, or both, insinuating that I was neither. To this day, I'm still learning to appreciate and love myself more.

My dad was (and is again) an alcoholic. It was hell on earth being home. After I turned 18 I moved out as soon as possible. My mum was so sad 'cuz I wouldn't come visit that much because of him. It got better for quite a few years but he fell og the wagon and doesn't seem to care about it, even though my mum is filling for a divorce now.

My uncle is 41 now and he said when he was younger his mom told him that Santa would throw pepper in his eyes if he stayed up on Christmas eve.

When she was little, my mom split her shoulder open while slipping and accidentally hitting her head very hard on the towel bar of her bathroom when she was 12, she couldn’t speak loud enough because of the pain, and she got her siblings attention by rolling the nearby vacuum on the floor. She had to sit in a dark room for days, to help her head heal, and she had to have treatment for her shoulder during those days.

This is what made me think that exact thought, although it is a little different to everyone else’s, I was a very rambunctious kid, and got hurt so many times, my mom said I almost did this a couple of times

My father always used to say: "Never lose your dignity."
When I left for university my younger sister wrote me a nice card which ended with my dad's quote...it read: Never lose your dicknity!

I have pictures of my mom holding me as a baby, cigarette in her hand. I also had an iron crib. She used to put me outside to play by putting a harness on me and hooking it to the clothes line. Granted, we lived in a small rural town but still.

"You don't need to see a psychologist, you're just a bad child!" when, at the age of 15 and with increasing terror at home, I (!) asked my parents for an external counselor.

Still a kid, but when my mom said I could have died. What was I doing you ask? I ran into a table. Don’t ask me why, even I don’t know. Apparently i was bleeding a lot and she was concerned because I was sleeping. It was 10pm and I was 6, of course I was going to sleep!

I posted already but a bucket fell on my head once. So my best friend dropped a bucket on my head. I was bleeding and guess what? My mom did nothing for four hours. FOUR WHOLE HOURS! Who knows what was on the bucket?

“No one loves fat people, you’ll probably end up sad and alone and homeless.”
I was 7 and 10
