What is a split-second decision that changed your life forever?

#1

I was in a bad abusive relationship. I wanted to leave but had nowhere to go. Someone I only met 3 times, offered me to come stay at their house . I packed my stuff and went with them . And I never looked back.
It could have gone very wrong. But I figured things probably would not get worse. And I had nothing really to loose.
It changed my life. I got a bunch of new friends,I got a job,my ex was afraid of the people I left with so I never saw him again, eventually found a new house to live in.

Moving from my mom's to my dad's. I was in high school and made the decision out of the blue. It's the only reason I was able to get the mental and medical health help I needed, ended up on my current career path, with my husband, the mother of my child, and with the degrees that I have. If I had stayed with my mom, I very much doubt I would be as happy in my life as I am today.

Giving online dating one last chance. Reactivated my account, got a nice message from a witty, beautiful woman the next day, went on a date the following day, married her six months later. Seven happy years so far!

Walk to the back of the playground in 5th grade to the bench in the corner. That's where I met all my current friends and where I met my crush.

Helped an abandoned cat with various health problems get the help he needed, couldn't take him as I live in a flat, his carer told me due to health issues he would thrive being an indoor cat. No brainer! He was actually the one who saved us and gave us the happiest few months ever before his passing of congenital heart failure, I believe his heart was too small for all the love it held, we were truly blessed with our beautiful boy Charlston.

I was at the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, California in the middle of the night going over the Lost Boys Bridge. Really, it's the same bridge from the movie and everyone in town calls it that. It's on the left side of the Boardwalk. So, I look over to the left and on the railroad trestle there was this plywood board that sits there in-between the trestle boards. It's probably still there. So, I go stand on the front of it for a split second and the whole board tips up behind me and starts going verticle, I saw the drop twenty feet down to the sidewalk below as I jumped to the right onto the train tracks. I totally saved my life because the gap was like 3 feet, I would have fell. I thanked God when got up.
