From a generally internationally oriented, lighthearted, positive world view to copy/paste from the cesspools of the internet, muckraking tabloid "journalism", yeah, downhill. Amazing that they waited until the transformation was almost complete before asking for money.

I use an as blocker and don't have the app, only the website, so I haven't seen any ads etc, but I genuinely can't believe people are actually paying for this site now, especially since it's deteriorated so much. The 'shopping' posts (ie more ads) and gimicky posts about choosing a favourite celebrity or answering ridiculous polls, are taking up more & more space, and it's no longer the enjoyable, positive place it was a few years ago.
I've been toying with leaving for a while, and this might be the final straw, but I would miss the interaction with some good people.
