I got so used to working in customer service jobs where I would get yelled at, judged harshly and expected to choose my job over my family.

Now I work mostly from home for an accounting firm where people tell me that if I don't know something to ask, they'd be more than happy to show me how to do it. They praise me when I'm making progress...I mean like crazy praise me!

And I've never been in such a judgement free supportive company as I am here. My schedule is flexible so I can tend to family issues. I love my job!

I don’t live in fear of getting fired for any little thing. I know management has my back. I don’t spend the whole day getting screamed at. Having a state job is the best!

I like the fact that I can sleep in whenever I want, I like the very flexible hours, very little stress, no commute expenses, etc.

Oops; I forgot to mention that I retired in 1990!

I’m retired from a job I loved. I was at the same company for 24 years. I did many jobs and worked my way up. I felt appreciated and was paid well. I got to travel a lot (even internationally once.) I’d still be there if my health allowed.

I love math. I love talking about it. I love learning about it. But most importantly, I love teaching it. I love helping the students already excited about math learn more about what they are capable of. I love creating a safe space for the students who have grown to hate math and hopefully, at the very least, cure the anxiety they feel walking into a math classroom. I love rewarding effort along with success. I love altering how I teach to best fit the students that I currently have.

Yessss, I was teaching physics, with the similar approach :) I was so excited and proud when I waken up interest in students who were bored by physics when they get to me. I felt very rewarded when some of them chosen to study it on university the later.

I’m a therapist and love seeing the “aha” moments with my patients. Watching people heal and grow - some of them after living through the stuff of nightmares - makes me grateful for and proud of each of them. Plus I get to make my own schedule and make sure to book a nap for myself every day (I keep a super fluffy blanket hidden within easy reach of my office couch) which is pretty nice!

I work in retail for one of the UK’s largest supermarkets. I may now earn less than half of what I did 18 months ago, but I have no direct responsibility for anyone or anything; every afternoon off (part time) and work with like minded people who just want to come in, do their job then go home and get on with life. No one is trying to get one over someone else. The store discounts more than make up for the low wage and I have a lifestyle I always wanted. Every little helps!!

I worked in the insurance industry for 15 years and had enough. No perks, no bonus and no reason to stay. We were told no raises, no extra vacation weeks and no prorated bonuses for the last one I worked for. I quit. I've been working customer service for a call center and love it. I get 5 weeks vacation every year, 10 sick days, short term disability and LTD, growth within the company, the ability to continue to learn and grow. We've been working from home since april 2020

That even though I work hard long hours, I am surrounded by comedy gold no matter which shift I do, which in turn leads to me telling hilarious jokes to every single co worker I encounter- whether they want to hear them or not. If you don't believe me just hold a vegetable near your groin around any other humans, it's a guaranteed chuckle and how I spend at least 10% of my day. Hospitality rules!

My primary job I'm in my own little bubble. No one bothers me in my out of the way office. I get paid for what I know, not how much work I do. There is very little actual work.

Second job I'm a manager for special event security/crowd control. It's a lot of problem solving, thinking on your feet, anticipating what's going to happen next, and training staff. Every event is different, no two shifts are the same. I've worked things like Coachella, Comic Con, NASCAR, Electric Daisy, River Regatta, Los Dells, and far too many sports games. I work with amazing people from all walks of life.

One of my jobs is a cleaner. I'm a teacher by profession but I've had some jobs that I've quit because of toxic people or work conditions. I just wanted something where I could just get on with stuff by myself, so I took this. I clean an office for 2 hours a day, put on my music and sing my heart out as there's no-one to stop me or tell me what to do. Most of the time I finish early, so I make a cup of coffee and read my book while I wait to clock out. I feel pretty free with it really!
The other job is private tuition where I get paid more but with my experience it's easy to do, so I'm just making enough to live on, but it's cool. :)

Similar story at one place I worked: the cleaner had quit an office job because she'd had it with the office politics.
