So, I can't really talk to anyone in my family about it, but a lot of my friends and my boyfriend know. I could really use some pointers, like what gets you out of bed in the morning? That kinda stuff

Well, I'm not diagnosed with depression but have had my fair-share of experience with the symptoms. For starters, I've always felt a strong connection to the people I care about (especially if they care back), and so for those people is what really got me back on my feet. But in truth, it takes time and work in believing in yourself, at least for me, and to realize that there are in fact things that you do that are good for the world, even if it's just getting back on your feet! For example, if you use manners, that's already a great start! If not, I'm sure there are many other things that you do that are good! (Although you should use manners, but don't stress too much about it, it's just a good thing to do :D) In full honesty, however, it works best if you're the one to realize these things and their worth. Like I said, it takes time, but it will take longer if you don't try, and it sounds like you're willing to. For inspiration and mental breaks, find things that you possibly enjoy! For instance, I read and listen to music for escapism, and I'm a cellist and author for something to feel positively dedicated to. I also practice witchcraft (but am respectful and open minded to all other beliefs, religions, and cultures) so I have a sort of belief and hope there, so maybe try exploring what beliefs and such make YOU feel GOOD. If you have pets, develop your connection with them even better! It sounds like you have good relationships with your friends and boyfriend, so be grateful for those and the memories you share and the memories you will make! And when you feel brave, try determining what your triggers might be, and learn how to avoid or cope with them! Everyone is different, so only you can determine what works best for you, yet others can be part of that journey as well if you feel like it can help! This is only coming from my experience and what I have witnessed with people close to me. So in conclusion, don't stop trying until you find something that helps (within reason. Don't do something that endangers anybody including yourself), be patient, feel your feelings, and know that people have faith in you! I do! So here, have an imaginary sticker, a cookie, and a hug if you feel like having one! If not, that's ok!
Today? Told a doctor who suggested a stay in the padded hotel of her choice “to reset”. Yeah, no thanks. I take a ton of prescriptions! And they do nothing. But have the added benefit of people not bothering you about doctors and “getting better” because you have the illusion of doing something about it. What gets me out of bed in the morning is my dog whining to go out and then the schedule I maintain for her and her kitty siblings well-being. Develop a routine and stick with it no matter what. It’s hard at first and sometimes you’ll stumble but eventually you’ll go through the motions even when you don’t want to but you’ll be moving. Maybe I’m not the best person to help someone else when I can barely breathe most of the time but that’s my 2 cents.
I focus on every little thing I am truly grateful for … life is so precarious and there are daily atrocities around the world … realizing that I can get up and walk, and that I’m not in chronic pain or facing a terminal illness, is usually enough to snap me out of feeling depressed.
