Hey Pandas, What Dinner Tables Rules Do You Have, And What One Would Your Children Like To Change?
If you have children and any dinner rules, what rules would they like to change? If you are a child, what rules do your parents have that you would like to change? (This is from a local radio station poll, shout-out to 100.1)

My children are adults but were brought up to eat as civilized human beings just as I was. Don´t talk with your mouth full of food or chew with your mouth open.No elbows on the table and shovelling your food into your mouth with one hand.If you want something out of reach, ask for some-one to pass it on,not getting half out your seat, leaning over the food (running the risk of sliding your clothes through the sauce).Don´t dominate the dinner-talk...dinners are usually where events of the day are being aired and talked over.Do not fill your plate if you are not going to eat it all.Leave the cutlery side by side, not spread-eagled on the plate.Don´t EVER eat asparagus with knife and fork...a big faux pas...lol when getting up from the table push your chair back in place and lastly, bring your own plate and glass to the kitchen, your mum is not your maid....This took years of nagging but the end result is that they can eat in any place without embarrasment. There is a new rule now when coming for dinner...NO i-pad,phone etc on my table while we eat. These are my rules....theirs were pretty much just to wolf their food down and leave their plates on the table and then jump up to meet their friends.
Those are all great habits to have and I hope your current or future grandchildren have the same great manners.
I'll go first. Though I heard a ton of people stating that their child would prefer to have more chocolate for dinner my children had a completely different wish. I don't allow handheld games or books at the table during 'family dinners' (movie night is different). Last week I set down my munchkins' plates and moved their books to the counter, earning me a double "Hey! Ugh, mom!" Books, they wish for books at the table.
It's great that they want books rather than devices! This sounds like it would be a rule at my house.
