Just wondering

Absolutely nothing. I’m not going to pretend that there is anything about this dystopian hell of a country to celebrate.

Yes. I will definitely respect the people that fought/fight for what our country SHOULD be, but not how our country is right now. America is not the Land of the Free for the time being.

Same! For some reason I just have no want to celebrate, or even have any ounce of excitement towards this holiday... Breaks my heart because I always remember this day as a day where families and neighbors and friends and anybody that stopped by got together to enjoy good food and company and ddink.... at the end of the night you watched the show than went to bed if you were a kid. These days I just don't fell that.....

Me too. I'm on a lake and people have been shooting off fireworks for 4 nights now. My dog is exhausted.

I will be shooting fireworks and hanging with my family, but not because I love America. I cannot love a country where children are forced to carry fetuses to full term but the government cannot ensure that they don’t get shot dead in their elementary schools, where it’s still legal to kill gay people, and trans people are marked as predators even when they’re literal children.

I will be shooting fireworks with my family because I love my family and I love fireworks. I would rather live somewhere else.

Bbqing then blasting the ac and TV volume to help drown out fireworks so my dogs don't go nuts. One barks insanely and tries to get outside to "catch the intruder" while the other shakes and stares at me like "why is my brother insane? He's scaring me and those loud sounds don't help"

Fireworks are so inconsiderate to pets and veterans, I don't know if I'm a Hypocrite because I watch them or not. They're pretty and all but it seems wasteful and pointless.

Lighting fireworks and having friends over, I personally don’t really think there’s anything to celebrate this year but my parents are happy with everything going on and since I’m a minor who lives with them there’s not much I can do :/

Our 3 season porch has been filled for the past 4 years with extra furniture that we finally were able to get rid of in the past 3 weeks. The room was dirty, gross, unable to clean it, the cats would go out there and watch the birds, shed, hang out, and use the boxes for shredding, etc. But there wasn't space for us. (I wish I could add pictures!) It looked like a hoarder's house. Completely full, we couldn't even get from one end to the other.
2 weeks ago we rented a cargo van, and moved out most of the furniture. Today we emptied the rest of the stuff into the back yard. Stripped the carpet from the foundation wall where the rubber glue had deteriorated, found bird seed, mouse droppings, a mouse long left to meet her maker, and scraped and scraped.... and then swept. And swept. And swept.
And the brought the 40 year old Electrolux vacuum out and filled 5 bags. Washed the chairs, the porch table, the coffee table, washed the windows, wiped down the glider, the side tables, threw out 40 gallons of trash (not garbage, but stuff we'd never use again. We're not low life, people!).
Now we have our beautiful 3 season porch back! Our place to have our morning coffee with the newspaper, to watch thunderstorms roll over from, our place to eat barbeque without the flies all over us. It took 5 hours of hard HARD work. But it's back.

I am being super vigilant regarding burning embers. My neighbor two houses up the street has been shooting fireworks off for three days now. The houses are rather close to one another in this neighborhood. The fella shoots those things up in the air and has no control of where the embers or burning specks go. Two years ago another neighbor had damage to a car from the junk that fell down from the fireworks. Another neighbor is afraid to complain because he has been known to shoot the stuff towards others houses. The fella buys them every year and shoots them off from the beginning of July through August (he buys sooooo many). I used to enjoy firework shows, but hearing artillery two houses away and worrying about my house catching fire has sort of turned me against fireworks.
