Millions upon millions of men, women, and children in this world struggle with body image and the challenges it presents us, such as eating disorders, self-harm, drug use, alcoholism, depression, and suicidal thoughts, among others. It is likely that at least one of these people is somebody you know and love, but maybe they just don't tell you or display any symptoms. We need some more love in this world, so how about we give some advice to those out there who have to wake up every morning and face the hardships of body image issues.

I have strange facial defects, like uneven nostrils and such. One day I looked at the mirror and said in my mind "this is the face that you'll face the world with." And it put me at ease, after decades of struggling. Of course, it wasn't a magical phrase or anything, it was just years of work with my body image. You have to realize that you don't have to please others but be at peace with who you are. I know everyone wants a perfect body and soul, but perfection isn't possible, and if anything, illusion of perfection doesn't help to accept the fact that everyone's flawed. Accept your flaws, and the rest will flow.

That your personality matters way more than what you look like. No one is perfect. If anyone tells you harmful things about yourself you need to remember that they don’t deserve your attention if they don’t like you for who you are. You will always be beautiful and I hope you can see that.

Today we all compare ourselves to people on TV and social media and forget how much make up and editing they have going on. When you look in the mirror focus on your good qualities rather than your flaws. Accept who you are. I've been bullied a lot by my school mates and family about my defaults and it always made me depressed, hated myself and never went anywhere at all. But one time I reflected on myself and found out that I wasn't going to let a bunch of people ruin my life. I chose to be happy about what I saw in the mirror and change what I did not like (work out and smile more). I don't care about what people have to say about my body. Its their point view but not mine and mine matters more than theirs.
