honestly, I just want some ideas so I can study enough to say I proved all of them wrong. only then, will I win an argument someone else started 3 days ago. I appreciate the help.

The egg. The bird that layed the first chicken egg wasn't a chicken.

The egg came first in a technical sense. Eggs were layed long before birds even came into the picture so the egg had probably come first. If you are looking for a slightly more specific answer then fear not for I shall answer. Two proto-chickens (animals that were ancestors to the chicken) laid an egg. The genes in that egg changed so the animal that came out resembled a chicken more than what its parents were. Over time we got our chicken

The question says "egg", but not specifically a chicken's egg. Dinosaurs and reptiles have been laying eggs long before chickens came into existence
