I'm sorry for your loss Dani. He sounds like a hero to me. A present, loving, caring father.
I said MY hero. I wasn't going to reply, but decided to take the opportunity to say more about my Dad. He was a college graduate who wasn't drafted - he joined the Army by choice. He then went on to get his Master's degree and work as a mechanical engineer for more than 30 years. He had many more accomplishments, but the things that make him MY hero are that he taught me to swim, ride my bike, he read me bedtime stories and sang me songs. When my parents divorced, my Dad took custody of my brother and me. He cooked, cleaned and did yard work. He helped me with my math homework, taught me to balance a check book, drive a car and change a tire. He was a loyal, all-in, hands on Dad who showed us that he loved us through words and deeds. That's what makes him MY hero.
