So i brought the game azul to play with my dad and his friends. His one friend, we'll call him Tom, is honestly obnoxious to play with. He's the sort who when it's his game, only explains rules as you play so that he gives himself the advantage and will not allow others to see the rules (ie. Most games if you know a class is OP you probably let people have a chance to take it since they don't know the game. Tom will immediately take it for himself without question despite no one else knowing any basics about the game leaving them with the subpar classes).
The thing is, when we play together, I'm not a pushover like my dad, I am a boardgame veteran and call him out on his bs with rulings.
So... back to the story. I brought Azul, no one has played it before. I'm about to explain when Tom, who has never played, decides to take the rules from the box and explain how to play without reading them (just to keep them from me). He gets it horribly wrong but I let him finish, smile and then say "nope actually not like that AT ALL." I explain the rules fully (which he tries to say is a less complex version of what he said-- it wasn't even close), ask if people have questions, do a fake first round and then I re-setup everything for the game. As I do this Tom decides to tell people ideal strats to win and remarks about how smart he is. I say, "actually... that wouldn't be--" and he puts his hands up and tells me not to tell him how to play (this game he has never played but is my game).
For those who have never played azul you need to gain specific coloured tiles and fill out a mosaic. You do this by completing a rows of 1-7 of the same coloured tiles (ie. Gathering resources) from communal groups. If you take too many and miss use it then you lose points and if you don't plan out your board for optimal points then you will fall behind. Some combinations are easier than others. It is a game of strategy that is very easy to learn, and moderately difficult to master.
Mister Tom though, after having already mansplained how to play my own game, that he had never played, to me and why his strategy is correct, he went about playing... in the dumbest way I have ever seen. Beginning with the simplist matches first and ultimately screwing himself later forcing him to take a tonne of poor tiles and not complete most of his 1-7 combos each round. His second strat was to end the full game early by competing a combination that ends the game on his own board-- which can be good if you are in the clear lead-- except... he had been so involved in his own game that he didn't look up to see that everyone was literally at least double his score by that point. (Scores are counted primarily at the end but you can tell by looking at their mosaic approximately how many bonus points they will get. The way scoring works out actually encourages you not to force the game to end quickly as you get more points by prioritising plays that extend the game).
He then complained about how it was a stupid game but everyone voted to play again, he begrudgingly continued. I explained to him why his strategy failed and that a common strategy is to play this way... now he's upset, and being petulant and declares "My strategy was perfectly fine but it was made based on the assumption that the people I'm playing with would play intelligently. I'm just too smart for this table. "... proceeded to lose 3 more games before he finally stormed off home.
After like a year of putting up with his half-assed self-serving rules where he magically always won because of a mechanic he would neglect to explain-- it was nice to see him utterly destroyed. He still maintains, to this day, that his logic and approach was highly skilled which honestly says something about his ability to accept reality.
We all high five after he stormed off.
Back when I was 9, I went to this Minecraft camp because I wanted to learn how to do commands and all that. The instructor kind of gave up and let us go crazy on a server he made, which was pretty awesome bc most of us collaborated and built a massive house for us all to live in.
However, there was a kid name Diego. Diego was an asshat. He blew up the house, and no one really liked him in person either, since he was a jerk to everyone. Me being the little s**t I am, I decided to set a command block (to prevent the instructor from finding me) that would repeatedly kill him over and over.
S**t went DOWN. He started yelling and swearing, and tried to throw the mouse across the room. He stormed around the room shouting at people if they did it (including me) and eventually the instructor asked someone to fess up. Multiple people had seen me do this, and NONE OF THEM said a thing, because everyone hated this kid so much. Eventually the instructor found the block and deleted it, and everything went back to normal, but that was the most petty thing I've ever done, and it was f*****g awesome.
It was some old shooting game, I couldn’t see anything and thought it was my brightness. Nope I was facing the wrong way. 30 min wasted.
So I played FIFA a lot with my friends when we were back and university (06-10) and we have a few moments. Like my friend losing 4-0 and finally scoring one, jumping up to celebrate a hitting his head on a metal bar above us (I know it doesn't sound funny but in context it was). There was also a time I was playing cricket 07 against a friend and like I think I scored 200 runs in a 10 over match....he never wanted to play the game again after that lol.
More crazy really. Years back I waa playing "The Last of Us" and I got super into it. If I wasn't working, I was playing. So about a week in, I'm totally into the game, completely zoned into it. I was in an area in the game that had 'clickers', and for those who don't know, they're these infected zombie sorta things that are blind, but have excellent hearing. So you have to tip toe in the game to sneak around them, or behind them if you had to kill it. And those clickers were everywhere! I was very tense, and trying to be stealthy, when my boyfriend comes in and starts talking. I, in total earnest shushed him and told him to 'be quiet they'll hear you!!' Because, you know, that's how video games work haha 🙄
Oh I've been waiting for this question
Couple years ago I'm playing GTA online with two really good friends of mine. We're all in the forest, my two friends are walking in the forest, and I'm in a cargo helicopter carrying an old muscle car. My two friends are fighting, because it's GTA, of course, and i fly right over them, yell "bombs away" and release the car
All my friend said was that he saw the other friend walking, then the next frame he saw a car instead. *splat*
I was playing genshin for the first time.
1. I tried to click the words "pick a twin" and was confused when nothing happened
2. thought the sprint button was how u walked
3. got stuck in a lake and kept trying to sprint to get out
4. thought people shipped kaeya and diluc as a couple
5. thought venti was a girl
:)
"mafia" when I crashed my car and it was funny because it was vehicular manslaughter but in game🤣
