Being kind produces the most remarkable results
I have a lot of these because I am old. My favorite is "do one useful thing every day". That's all. But, because this seems to be a practical life hack post, here's mine. Boiling silver (jewelry, silverware, etc.) in an aluminium pot with bicarbonate of soda / baking powder, will instantly polish the silver. Much less hassle than actual silver polish. Not that many people HAVE silverware, but it helped me clean in my gran's house.
If someone asks if you are (a) INSERT RUDE THING HERE just say yes and they will stop being mean.
There's a famous stylist here in my country called Carlos, and told us one day he was walking down the street and a guy shouted from a running car F*G***T! and Carlos shouted "YEAH?? SO WHAT'S NEW IDIOT?"
Don't do as I do, do as I say. There, that should cover everything.

If your candles are burning too low to reach the wick, light a piece of uncooked spaghetti. It’ll reach into those deep candles and burn long enough to light the candles on grandpa’s birthday cake! :D
Trying to put a coat on a toddler can be a hassle as they are starting to show independence. My hack:
1) Lay the coat, on its back, on the floor with the arms out to the side.
2) Have child stand, facing the coat, by the collar.
3) Child bends over, puts arms into the coat's arms.
4) As child stands up, while pushing their arms into the coat, they flip the it over their head..
Ta da - coat on and happy, giggly child.
Do something you don't really like to do (household chores, exercise, read etc) for just 10 minutes a day. If you want to do it for longer, go for it, but aim at just 10 min. It's a very short time, but it'll add up!
Don't be a d**k. Everything else will get better.
If you have a cough, just cough once then say "et cetera". It will save you the bother of having to cough more.
Brilliant! This will save my back when I have a cough and I'm stiff and sore!
The 'clipboard history' feature in Windows changed my life.
One time I used it as a coworker was looking over my shoulder. "That's not gonna work." he said, as I copied one line after the other from an excel sheet into the clipboard. As I started copying line after line out of the clipboard, he was totally flabbergasted. "Yes, that changed my life, too." I said, as he went back to his computer to switch the feature on. ;)
If you got stung by a Mosquito rub the inside of a banana peel on it to reduce the itching. The inside of a banana peel can also be used to polish leather shoes.
Buy a whole turkey breast from the grocery store. Make/find a delicious rub, and then slow-smoke it using mesquite wood. When finished, slice it thin and freeze it for EPIC sandwich meat!
Incremental progress is still progress. If you improve yourself by .01% a day for the rest of your life and you only live another 30 years, you will be 110% better than you were when you started.
Smile. It makes people wonder what you have been getting up to...
Format Painter in MS Word.
Double click on it, and it allows you to do multiple pastes. Click on it again to stop. Works also in Excel and Powerpoint.
One useful one I saw on the net...if pouring from a carton that's fairly full, if possible ensure that the pouring hole is at the top (ie further from the receptable - not allow cartons open that way). That allows air into the carton and allows it to pour smoothly, stopping it "burping" and sloshing.
I have many life hacks but a fav is: Snipping the corner of an envelope and using it to funnel dry ingredients. Everything slides much better than with plastic or silicon funnels. It is also cheap, easy, lasts a long time, and you don't have to wash it!
Never disregard a gut feeling
...unless you have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, where your gut is always telling you terrible, untrue things.
Keep up on your auto maintenance. Regular Oil and filter changes will save you money in the long run.
If your shoelaces keep coming untied, rub them with bee's wax. Has to be the real thing; candle wax won't do. Bee's wax is sticky and slippery at the same time.
Learn the old cures. Calemine lotion for itching. Sweet Oil for earaches. Salt water for sore throats. Witch Hazel for sunburn or hemorrhoids. Ginger for nausea. Chicken soup for colds. Honey for coughs. Ice for headaches or swelling. Many work very well.
If, using an ad block and using the TamperMonkey extension and it still won't work, click "share" then embed, and you can watch it without ads
if you're in school, and they give u a computer for school, and theyve blocked everything not school related, u can use vercel to create a link thats not blocked for interstellar proxy, which is a school black web thing where everything is unblocked. and also you can watch youtube videos by either
1: creating a google doc and dragging the link to the google doc then watching it there
2: for example if the link is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ then you can delete the "watch?v=" to "embed/" (https://www.youtube.com/embed/dQw4w9WgXcQ) and you'll usually be able to watch the video
Removing creases from jordans with an iron and hot towels. I’ve never tried it but I’m not risking burning hundred dollar shoes, lol.
You don't need to be pretty, or strong, or own a house, or strive for a life with a partner. You don't need to want or have children, you don't need to smile, go to college, or be rich. If you can't make a living because society expects you to conform - move. If necessary, pretend to be normal until you made enough to get out.
Don't go to grocery store hungry. You will buy stuff you dont need :)
I also like to use moisturizer as a makeup remover step. It breaks the makeup down and also feeds your skin. I rub it around for a few min and enjoy the face massage. Also helps mascara slip off easier too. Then just wipe it off with a warm wet rag. Soft skin and clean skin one step.
One more. Instant cake or brownie mixes...butter your pan and take a few tablespoons of the dry mix and use it as your flour. Put the left over in the mixing bowl. When cooked your cakes won't have that white from flour look. The mix cooks back in.
Use tape to remove stickers from items. Press it on and leave a tab to lift it off. If you cut onions or garlic and your hands smell use soap and a steel spoon and rub them very well before rinsing. No need to buy the steel soap thing. Oh and my fav...if you have stuff burnt on the bottom of a pot or pan-let it soak. Then use the side of a spoon. Put your thumb in the bowl part and use the side edge to scrape it off. Elbow grease and a little time it comes off better than steel wool that gets clogged. Trust me.
Also steel wool scratches stuff badly and removes teflon coatings. I personally suggest sodium hydroxide (drain cleaner) but that's only for hardcore burnt-on food. Another thing you can do is IF you catch the food in the process of getting burnt/stuck to a pan, instantly pour about 50-70mL of water on it ... the bubbles lift the food off the pan.
Load More Replies...If you're learning another language, don't try to translate in your head. Think of it as another way to describe something, this especially goes for conveying context- literal translations don't always work so you have to think of what you're trying to convey. I am bilingual (en/es) and I've had friends try to learn Spanish and when I explain it to them in this way it makes it so much easier for them to learn.
