You've probably heard this from a lot of adults but it's true: if you want to be liked or have a lot of friends, be as friendly as possible. Don't fall into the trap of being "not like other girls" or not talking to people who aren't your friends, or trying to be popular and making yourself miserable because of it. If you're shy or introverted, then that's okay, but if someone asks you for help or says hi, don't be afraid to engage with them. It's so much easier when you're known as the "nice kid".

If there's something you're good at or enjoy, like art, music, sports, theatre, etc, then there's probably a class or club for it that you can be a part of. It's good to find a thing you are passionate about that you can keep on doing into highschool, and it's a good way to meet new people who have similar interests.

Don't be afraid to go to tutoring if you're struggling. There's no shame in it and no one will ever judge you for asking for help. In fact, going to tutoring can be the difference between passing or failing a class. If there's a class you think will be hard for you, be sure to know the teacher's tutoring hours just in case.

Take the hardest classes you think you can handle. If core is the hardest thing you can do, then that's okay, but I would definitely recommend taking the advanced courses. They teach a lot of things you will learn in highschool, especially science and math, and will make highschool much easier if you've already learned a simpler version of what they're teaching. Don't stress yourself out too much, because classes that are too hard can lower your grade, but if a class was super easy for you in elementary, it's best to check if there's an advanced version available.

Try to get on the teachers' good sides. Just trust me. Middle school teachers can have a lot more students to teach than elementary teachers, so if they like you, then they'll be more likely to know you and help you better in class. Good relationships with teachers will help your grades and your mental health.

This isn't a strict rule but more of a tip: don't concern yourself too much with relationships. They probably won't last very long at all. Crushes aren't high priority either. Trust me, you're not in love with them. You're allowed to like someone, but it's probably not going anywhere. Good for you if it does, but if you confess and they say no, it's best to let it go. I know a lot of people who dated in middle school and none of the relationships lasted through freshman year of highschool. I'm not trying to discourage you or talk down to you, but obsessing over romance when you're not even in highschool yet won't go anywhere.

Don't be afraid to have fun. middle school can be a tough time for a lot of people, but not a lot of things you do during middle school are going to matter later on in life, or even highschool. Just don't do drugs, don't get in fights, and do your homework, and things should be fine. Especially if it's your first year of middle school, the teachers will be aware of this and help you adjust. It's perfectly fine to be nervous, but there's not much to worry about.
