My State Flower Quilt
I made all the squares, then realized I'd have to add 6 squares to fit the grid and proportions correctly, so I made squares for D.C. and the five biggest territories (in the vintage style) It's also made with recycled/already owned materials (sheets and pillowcases) and "granny stash" embroidery thread. Hand quilted too. edit: This image is the final layout pattern, and not the finished quilt. (I don't happen to have a pic. of the finished quilt.) I took photos of the squares, then shuffled them around to find out how it would look. This is done with the states in order of aquisition, then the territories also in aquisition order.
