Whether it be hiking, climbing, birding, going for walks, or just chilling in your backyard how have you reconnected with the world around you during the pandemic and how has this affected you?

Not a great fan of gardening - husbands hobby. But, I tackled some ivy growing up the garden wall (shudder) and proceeded to make a spectacle of myself, in public view, jumping around shouting at big hairy spiders to “get away from me!” 😂😂
Nature was my only consolation for most of 2020! As a front-line healthcare worker, I didn't dare see any of my nearest and dearest in person because basically all of them have pre-existing conditions that make them deeply vulnerable... I couldn't take the risk of exposing them to anything I'd brought home from work. So if I had free time all I could do to bring a little joy into my life was put on my hiking boots and go down to the creek, or the less crowded parks or trails or lakes, anywhere I could just appreciate nature and not get too close to other humans. And when I came home, I could make art from what I saw, photos or drawings, it kept me functioning through the worst of the crisis. So take it from me, someone who's seen the COVID-19 virus in action... you do NOT want it! Protect yourself by any means necessary - get vaccinated, but also practice OCD-level hand hygiene, cover your face in public, socially distance, and avoid crowded places. Remember, there's no cure.
