Just tell us the story of how you met your best friend.

I was in a pub that had 4 pool tables. A nice big chalkboard with the rules of the house:
1. All tables are winner stays on unless pre-booked.
2. Anyone wishing to play must write their name on the board.
3. Newcomer to the table pays for the game.
4. Any rule breakers will be removed from the establishment.

Looking at the tables I could tell this crowd were good. Serious players that played for teams and semi professional. I only played for fun.
On one table was a tiny 4'10, 18(ish) year old girl. She was frustrating some mid 30's man with her near perfect ball placement. I put my name up on the board and got myself a drink.
Watching the games I noticed myself being drawn to this girls table, she was destroying everyone! I knew if I ended up on her table I wouldn't even get a shot in. I'd be throwing money away.
When my name was called, it was to her table!!! She told me to break. I fluffed it so bad, the room filled with laughter. She offered to let me re-break I smiled and said, 'Nah, reckon I've still got a chance! Do your thing.'
Well if my break was bad, her shot was a disaster! I figured she was toying with me so I decided to do my best and sink as many as I could.
Over-all it was a long game. I figured she was still toying with me or letting me win. When it was over and I had won, I thanked her for letting me win, she said that she hadn't.
After I was promptly destroyed by the next player. I offered to buy her a drink as a 'thank you' for letting me win, she said 'I really didn't let you win, I just can't play properly against bad players!'. After laughing I bought her that drink. We became best friends and eventually husband and wife.
She still can't beat me a pool, because I'm 'so bad at it, it makes all strategy impossible'!

The only one I can really remember well is also one of my longest friendships. Our Form One (I think that's like Grade 7) had six classes. Throughout the year we've heard of "this kid" from the other class that's really smart and if we thought we were smarter than them. Typical kids stuff. Lol. When we got to Form Two (Grade 8 I presume) we were both in the same class and I remember him coming up to me and just saying, "oh that was you" and then we basically became best friends and both outscored everyone for the rest of Secondary School. We were always just separate by just a few marks each term. Oh and people kept it up as though it was a rivalry but we were friends at that point. Lol

Well, itś a really cute story! About 6 months ago, I had developed a crush on someone online, and a week later mustered up the courage to tell him. He was really warm and accepting, and our friendship blossomed from there 😊

At an AA meeting. She asked me to donate to some charity walk she was doing. I had been crushing on her for a while. On a whim I told her I would donate if I could walk with her. She said yes.

Been married for 6 years now. Still sober and still do the same charity walk.

So I was ten in year 5 at school the week before Christmas and I was with my best friend and her other friend came over to talk to us. We talked and got to know each other then we came up with making a new chocolate chicken club with just us ( which is a really popular group they invented that I was previously left out of) then we agreed to a secret Santa that failed because we only had three people but it brought us together as friends

Decided to go the animal shelter with my family, not wholly expecting to get a dog. However, as soon as I laid eyes on a skinny Boxer with a great personality in need of a home, I knew he would be my best friend. It's been two years, and we are still best buddies!

We met in a chat room (we used those before social media took hold), then years later met in person and have been best of friends for going on 20+ years and are so close that we are often mistaken for sisters, so we let them just believe that *L* we are considered something of a modern day Thelma and Louise (except the cliff … yeeahhh about that *L*) and people in town get concerned if they see only one of us (it’s kind of a small town)

    1) I ran into her 3 times in about 5 minutes and asked if she was stalking me. Without missing a beat she looked down at her watch and proclaimed 'It's Working!". We've been inseparable every since.

    2) Met my sister when she was 16 and I was 18. Mom didn't get the chance to legally adopt her but that woman is my sister.

    3) Her son appeared next to me when I was moving into a new apartment. Asked me if I was new, pointed out his place and said he lived with his Mom, Sister, and baby brother. Asked if we could be friends (He was 8), then proceeded to pick up a box and just walk into my apartment without me getting a word in edge wise. I met her a month later. That kid is 22 now and not only have I become extremely close with his Mom, but I'm apart of the kids' lives, which is something I'm very glad happened. They're my Not-Kids. She's like a sister to me too.

    4) My angel I met the same time as my sister. I miss her because I haven't gotten a chance to see her in several years. We can talk tomorrow and it'll be like we just parted ways.

Those are the 4 women I would die for. I'd also die for my niece, nephew's, and not-kids. They're not my kids but they're my kids.

I went to two private schools from pre-k up to 6th grade, the 2nd one was bigger but still only had about 300 students overall, just to give perspective compared to public schools that could have up to a thousand, if not more, students.
Two close friends of mine said they planned to transfer to a public middle school nearby and asked me to as well. I agreed but when classes were about to start, only one of my friends could continue going to that school since the other one wasn't approved due to the school not being in her home school district.
I truly never realized how shy, awkward, and socially anxious I was until I attended that school where I knew literally no one except one person and most of my classmates knew each other from attending public elementary schools nearby. But not even a month into attending the new school, my one and only friend there stopped talking to me and literally ignored me if I approached her. I can't put into words just how awful it felt to not know what to during breaks and lunches because I had no one to sit with or talk with. Especially when in all honesty, I have absolutely no reason why she did that. When I look back, I think it was because she joined theater and I wasn't "cool" enough to hang out with theater kids.
So I started attaching myself to basically anyone who spoke with me during classes. It took a while but I met a super quirky and incredibly loving girl who I'm still very close friends with today and while I consider her a sister in my heart, she was actually the one who introduced me to my future best friend. My new friend invited me to her birthday party and I met some other girls I didn't know including my future best friend. There were two moments when I knew we'd always be best friends. The first was when she complimented my Nightmare before Christmas messenger bag and the second moment was when I complimented her on her delicious homemade chocolate with marshmallow frosting cupcakes that had little homicidal flower toppers that she had drawn herself. We've continued to make plenty of memories together such as our first alcoholic drinks, first tattoos, etc and I'm so happy to have been able to meet her and my other friends despite my shitty start in public schools.

When I was in my early 20s I spent more time than I should have on a social website that has since been shut down. A group of friends and I tended to just bring the chaos to the boards. Two in particular just drew me in. One because of his humour and insane talent even then, the other for his depth and honesty. The former is also a single parent with a child close to the age of my youngest, the latter is my brother from another mother. How I managed to keep such amazing people close to me (they both live literally on the other side of the country) even after I basically ghosted everyone for a year I'll never know.
