What pride marches are y’all going to?! I went to a pride March today. We walked, then had a picnic at a local church. There was no “walking around in leather screaming about how you "need respect for who you put your p****r in”. Besides, I don’t think you or your gay friend that you definitely actually have realize all that is happening and has happened to us throughout history. In Russia, the government is sending us to camps and killing us for being gay. In Zambia, we can get up to 30 years in prison for being ourselves. Even in the US, people can murder us and claim they went “temporarily insane”. That’s not something we should be outraged over?

so easy to protest and march in a liberal environment instead of actually trying to solve problem spots isnt it. all you do when you have a pride event and scream "were here were queer get used to it" is illicit " yes. we f*****g know. we dont care. give over ffs."

Again! What pride marches are you attending? Pride marches are a celebration of who we are and how far we’ve come in out fight for equality, and also a chance to recognize that we still have more work to do. And for some people, marching is all they can do! They’re not in a position to run for office, or donate tons of money. But marching, to bring attention to our cause and to celebrate our identities, is completely free. You don’t need a college degree, or money. And that’s the beauty of it! Those who aren’t in great positions can still do something to help our cause!

also, i love the snide little "gay friend, who you definitely actually have" comment. "youre not allowed to question my life experiences, straight person. you have no right!" yet you have every right to say that "you definitely actually have a totally real gay friend" so i guess thats a nice double standard. or is that not a double standard straights are allowed to enjoy?

What I’m saying is that you having a gay friend doesn’t make your homophobic remarks okay. You’ve people saying “I can’t be racist, I have black friends!” after saying or doing something racist. You have no proof of them having- or not having- a black friend. But, since they were being racist, you can assume that they’re just trying to avoid the consequences of being racist. It’s perfectly possible that you have a gay friend. But, mentioning that friend right before saying something homophobic is kind of suspicious.
