Be friendly to people, but don't immediately jump into friendships, you never know who someone might turn out to be. Main advice though: stay the hell away from drama. You could get in a fight, a nasty rumor could be spread about you, or a teacher/staff member could find some bone to pick with you. If you keep your head down and are polite to everyone, you'll do fine :D

if you can handle it, take the advanced classes (especially the high school credit ones it will be worth it) but don't take a class just because your friend is taking it (this mainly goes for academics for elective stuff go ahead and do it you may like it lol) i promise even if you don't have any chances to see your friends in any classes you can STILL be friends. i have like no classes with any of my friends but we're still friends cause we find a way to make it work. i was in all 3 shows this year with one of my friends who's not even in the same grade and i consider them one of my best friends, and i have at most 2 classes with my other best friends. there's still lunch, or passing in the hallway, or before and after school. and try to stay out of drama. i know everyone says that but you really don't need it. and just be aware it's gonna suck. it's inevitable. but you'll get through it soon :)

I have no advice, I'm sorry. My first year of middle school was total hell, so I was homeschooled for the rest of it. I would say generally never trust someone completely. If you tell someone something starting with anything like "don't tell anyone else" or "I'm only telling you but I don't want anyone else to know," chances are someone else will probably find out pretty soon. Secrets are secrets for a reason, and once you tell one person you may as well have told the whole school.
