Agreed. It's ridiculous. It's the same as phrenology or any other foolishness. It's all about confirmation bias. People selectively remember moments when it confirmed their belief and conveniently forget all the other times when it did not.

Horoscopes can be useful. People who announce their sign [when *no* one asked] lets me know who to avoid at that party, workplace, classroom, etc.

Holy c**p, I just did my Mayan one for a laugh and it's 100% me. TBF I'm Leo, Fire Snake, and now I'm apparently a Serpent / Eagle (day / "month" signs)... I personally do believe in astrology, I don't find other signs are quite so right a fit for me, but I also think it's a power of the mind, it's real for me *because* I believe. Plus it's fun and doesn't hurt anyone unlike some other hobbies!

THIS. This, I believe, is the most truthful and intelligent answer to this question. If a person believes something is happening astrologically, they'll notice it more.

I’m a Libra. People think we are calm and perfectly balanced just like the scales ⚖️ that represent our star sign. The truth is those scales go up and down, sometimes irrationally 10 to 20 times a week! Calm? Scales dipping towards that…wait for it! BOOM! The Libra scales can swing back the other way in a heartbeat.

Very true. I have found mine helpful. Of course, natal charts are just one form of chart. Horary astrology for instance is about looking at the influences of certain times.

In fact as the stars have moved considerably since it was invented you are not the star sign you think you are.

As I have pointed out, astrology is far more complex than that.

My main Sun sign? For the most part, but there's a lot more to the Zodiac than just Sun signs. If you use a free online website, you can actually calculate your ENTIRE "birth chart". There's your Sun sign, Moon sign, Rising sign, etc.

Calculating it in full takes into account ALL of the signs and what their position was, the meaning, etc. So if you don't readily identify with your Sun sign, sometimes you can get really surprising and accurate results by looking at the entire chart.

It can get even more confusing though if you're a "cusp" baby, born very close to the next sign. For example if you were born on March 20, that's the last day of Pisces. Aries starts on the 21st, so you're a "cusp" baby and could more to Aries instead of Pisces.

All of the extra calculations in your birth chart can have multiple "cusps" too so it can all get quite complicated.

It's just something fun, I guess.

Although I have a lot of empathy and care about people and animals, I think a lot of people born in various times of year can be humanitarians and artists.

I’m a Libra and I don’t believe some of the things they tell people about us. Some people think they’re not funny, which I don’t believe. Or that they are just sunshine and rainbows. However, a lot of my family lives up to their sign’s personality. My dad is a Taurus and if you go into his house, you come out with a hundred extra pounds. Long story short, yes and no.

    1. I was in the plant section of a big box store, looking for tips on caring for my spider plant. Struck up a conversation with a fellow shopper who knew a lot about plants. Me to her: "Are you a Taurus?" She replied, "Yes!! How did you know?"
    2. Years ago, while on vacation, I met a woman and we chatted. She said how much she loves to work. I asked her if she was a Capricorn. Indeed, she was.
    3. Nurse came over several months ago to assess my husband for services. She was talkative, funny, and had a great vocabulary. I asked her if she was a Gemini. Indeed, she was.
    4. We have an aide who constantly interrupts...won't shut up...talks over you. I looked up his birth info and yup....as I suspected...mercury in Aries. (Mercury, planet of communication; Aries...always want to be first)

Sun signs are a VERY small part of astrology. It's a LOT more complex than that.

Astrology is fun, but I don't believe in it, but i do have alot of the traits of an Aries. I'm impulsive, optimistic, energetic. I also have a temper, but when I do bug out I usually get over it quickly. I have ptsd and anxiety, sometimes it's hard to do just basic things. I've have come a long way. I wear an Aries necklace as a reminder to stay strong when things get bad. To motivate myself. So, while I don't think astrology is legit, but my personality is similar to my Zodiac sign.

I am a sun sign Taurus, moon sign Taurus, born in the Year of the Ox. So, yes, it IS somewhat difficult to motivate myself out of a rut! It's been a lifelong struggle, but I keep at it and don't give up improving that. Persistence...yep. Another trait that fits. (I am not stubborn though!). But I do love good food, good wine and good company and *wish* I could afford the kind of luxury my Taurean self gravitates toward. Luckily I don't give in to that or I'd be dead frickin' broke.

I'm Aries- but heck no. Every description I've read on each zodiac is either vague or has a wide variety of traits to be sure that everyone can fit in them. Besides, the date of your birth is almost completely determined by the date of your inception, so why do we use the birthday for the sign? And, if zodiacs were a thing, why are twins different? How can the rotation of a planet that has been rotating for millions of years have any sort of effect on the personality changes of the people, who only started showing up in the last chapter of the planets life?
