In another post, a lady described how she got fat because of a brain tumour and thyreoid disease. Still too many people believe that you only get fat from eating to much. Do you have a story of getting fat because of medication, disease, genes, any other reason?

The first thing that came to my mind when I was reading the post on the lady that got overweight because of a tumour and thyreoid disease was a lady I'm supporting with surgery to reroute an amputated nerve in her leg, causing her debilitating nerve pain. She got Lyrica, Oxicodon, Tramadol and Amytriptilline. She was alway less than 50 kgs, within a year she was 110! She got a gastric bypass and it didn't help. She was NOT overeating! Then I researched these pain medications and I was shocked! Hopefully, now after 15 years of misery, we do have a surgeon who can help reroute the amputated nerve and hopefully she can recover and ditch all these pain medications!
I'm on Lyrica and Amitriptyline (and was on mirtazapine as well). I went from 50kg at 18yrs old, up to 88+ (didn't keep track) at my heaviest. I will most likely always be on both meds because of fibromyalgia and I hate the side effects but they are better than the alternative. I have been doing aqua aerobics two-three times a week and my weight has come down a bit thankfully.
Yes. I have prolactinoma and I gained weight when I went off treatments. This was also around the time my now-ex poured way too much starch in the pasta sauce to make it thicker. Not sure if that had anything to do with that, or if it was just a coincidence. Prolactinoma is caused by a cyst or benign tumour in the pituitary gland, and that causes, well, basically the same hormones when you're pregnant. So, breast milk production, weakening bone mass, slower metabolism, migraines, weird headaches, sometimes eye problems, absence of menses. This causes the body to retain water and fat all over. It doesn't take much weight gain to puff up a bit all over. Face, fingers, waist especially. I'm about 170-181lbs, with a ring size of 11 or 12. The largest at Torrid. When I was normal at 17 my ring size was a 6, or the sample size at the jewellers. My legs don't look as "fat". Disproportionate. Fit, lean on the bottom. Plump and round on top. Like an ice cream cone.
