I lost my beloved cat, Peter, suddenly, in March this year. I vowed to never get another cat as he was irreplaceable. Fast forward to July, a stray had been hanging around the bushes near my home for a week or so. She was friendly, but very thin and neglected. After having her scanned for a microchip and vet checked, brought her home. It was just until I found her owner. I had posters all over and listed her on every site I could think of, but had no response. I named her Missy. By the time a month had passed she was putting on weight and loving her life. She continued going weight so much and one day I felt something move inside her...it turned out that she must have gotten pregnant right before I found her. Watching her grow and give birth was the most wonderful, and scary, experience of my life. Missy had three kittens, Moose, Squirrel and Sue. They left two weeks ago to their new homes, after 10 weeks with them, it was difficult. Missy's furever home is with me. Xxx

Our blacksmith calls about once every 2 years and asks whether we could take in another neglected horse or pony. Those are mostly old, sick, one really hated children (for reasons we never got told), one should be sent to slaughterhouse because its former owner (girl) "wanted something more sportive". Eventually the blacksmith brought his own mare (>30yr) to spend her last year in our senior/rescue herd. He always cares for the rescue's hooves for free, we only pay him for our own horses.

Probably about 3 or 4 1/2 years ago I had this cat, George. My sister had a cat, kit-kat. They were siblings. George & kit-kat had kittens together... Yeah ik... Anyway, their names were, George Jr, Lightning, Bumblebee, and thunder. George Jr looked like my cat so we named him after his dad. Lightning was really fast and got into a lot of trouble so we named him Lightning. Thunder was a lot like Lightning but he was darker so we thought it would be cute to name him Thunder. Bumblebee is by far MY favorite out of ALL of them because, she well for one looked like a bumblebee, she had black and yellow stripes. She didn't open her eyes until like a month after the rest... I was begging to worry about her safety. She never got to get out of the box we kept her in so she didn't get hurt. After she opened her eyes a little bit, we let her go outside. That was our first mistake. There were a lot, and when I say a lot I MEAN a lot, of stray cats and dogs in the neighborhood. One day she went outside with Kit-Kat and Thunder, she was starting to wander off. I realized that the was a dog over by where she was going but didn't grab her... The dog started barking and almost, ALMOST, killed her. My mom ran out as I was running over there and saved her. She is fine now! And still my favorite! I'll post another one so this isn't so long. BTW sorry it was so long... X)

I was twelve when I rescued my dearest hen Ginger from a meat farm. She actually did the escaping, I just found her thirsty and very thin on the side of the road thinking she was dead. She clucked, and her voice was so hoarse I could hardly hear her. Without a second thought I loaded her into my car, arranged some towels on the passenger seat floor, and nestled her in. She talked to me the whole way home, and never ceased talking to this day.

I was at work covering for a boss on third shift. I work at a Manufacturing Facility. As I am typing away, I hear the cleaning lady say. "I know you're hungry." I turned around and was face to face with a grey fur baby with bright green eyes. Some of the guys in the back wanted to feed him to the coyotes and others wanted to see if he would swim. Needless to say 7 year and a bladder blockage later, my huge grey Smokie is still my cuddle buddy.

i was around 10 years old, i found three kittens in the abandoned house behind mine... so i took them and hid them frm mom and dad and took care of them.. i would feed them and stuff... until my parents found out, they sold them cuz my brother was allergic to alot of things... then after a few weeks i found three more cats and the same thing happened...
when i was 13 i was enjoying the rain behind my house, i heard a small chick noise, so after full 40 mins, i finally caught it and took it inside the house... got yelled by mom but then again, i took care of countless birds... i didnt see the problem...
oh and my mom and i tried to save an egg!!! our pet lovebird was pregnant and wasnt able to lay the egg, so we tried to help.. but the tweezers we used were too sharp... we dont have vets in our island and it was an emergency... in the end, we only saved the mother, the egg... well... we accidentally cracked it.... i got real mad and hid the tweezers... we got better ones later....

When I was a kid, I and my friend found a stray cat near our apartment block and called her Florentia. We got her a box that she could live in and constantly brung her food. She was a young tabby kitten. Our parents didn't let us take her into our home, but she hung around our apartment building inside her little box, and we met her every day. Unfortunately, she went missing one day, after about a few weeks of living in that little box, and we, two little kids, had hoped that she found a real home, or is alive, at least. But we may never know.

I found a squirrel one day that was crying or whatever squirrels do instead of crying. I brought it home and cared for it until it got better. The day I was releasing it, I was so sad. The next morning, I hear a knocking at my window. It's the squirrel. I named him Pistachio. We were best friends till the end. RIP Pistachio.

Very emotional story! But I want to point out as background information that animals cry to remove debris from their eyes and darn how long did you stay with the squirrel?

I adopted my cat from a shelter. Apparently one of the shelter workers was taking a dog for a walk in one of the trails behind the shelter, when he started barking a pulling until the owner gave up a followed him to a log. The walked discovered my cat there along with four kittens she had just given birth too. We adopted her and one of the kittens who we named Peanut and Snoopy. Sadly, Snoopy died from heart complications a couple weeks after we got him, but Peanut is alive and healthy and loves attacking us. She doesn't really go outside much, we think because of trauma of some sort, but I couldn't with for a better cat.

Can't say I ever rescued an animal, myself. But when I was a kid my dad used to rescue injured birds. Some of my earliest memories are of him showing me and my sister birds (barn swallows used to get into our shed and not find their way out and once he brought home a dead owl - not much of a rescue admittedly; he'd use dead birds for artistic studies). One particular rescue I remember was a goshawk we took in for a while. The day after we released it, it came back and paid us a little visit. Maybe it hoped for more free food :)

I did lift the occasional frog (and once a blindworm) off the road, though. Out of the way of traffic :)

Sorry for my english. I was working with my cat at an hospital for my ethology degree and on our way home, waiting for the bus i saw a jack russel running on the 4 lanes busy road. So with my cat on the back (animal backpack), i managed to take the dog with my belt. I called the cops to get him to animal rescue. I have waited almost an hour with the crazy "caffeine addict" dog raping my legs all the time, ruining my stockings and my skin with his claws, and my cat had to wait in his backpack too. Then when the police came they recognized the dog and took it to the rescue center, turns out he escape a lot and the rescue center is tired to always have to call their owners to get him. It was awfull but poor dog has such shitty owners, they don't even give a damn about him. Of course they didn't even call me to say "thank you", but i'm glad this dog is not dead (for now). Some people don't deserve animals.

My cat Mochi was rescued because of a facebook post. My mom was looking on facebook and saw a post about a hurt kitten sitting in someones driveway. We grabbed him and rushed him to the animal hospital, where they said he had an eye infection, a broken leg, and was covered in bite wounds. he was given a 10% chance of survival based on his age and condition (he was only 4 weeks old). Somehow, someway he lived. His second birthday is coming up soon, and the only evidence of his injuries that remains is a scar from the surgery on the previously broken leg, which they almost had to amputate. On that note, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOCHI! WE LOVE YOU!

TL;DR Mochi the cat overcame all odds and lived

My beloved Ebony passed away this October. I hadn´t been home alone for over 16 years and everything was terrifying. Donated her leftover food, including some gastro-intestinal food, to a local fostering organization. I looked at their website and just... there was a black cat like my Ebony. In foster care since February, found on the street where I live. Nobody wanted her. Now Luna has a forever home, just like Ebony has a forever place on my arm. I feel like an a-hole sometimes because I adopted her a week after Ebony´s passing, but I cannot live without a cat. And Luna deserves to be loved and spoiled.

My neighbour and I had noticed a cat hanging around our flats. She was very friendly but on the skinny side so we started leaving food out for her. After a couple of weeks of this, we took her to a vet who confirmed she didn't have a microchip and did we know she had recently given birth? We did not.

We spent days looking for those kittens and even got local shops to let us search their yards. We started to lose hope when there was torrential rain for a week straight.

One morning, I opened my front door to head to work and nearly stepped on a very tiny, very wet kitten. I immediately started screaming for my neighbour who wrapped her in a towel. Her mum brought her to us when she realised she could trust us.

A couple of days later, the mother cat dropped off three more kittens!! Mum and babies were all adopted except for that first little black fluffball I nearly squished who stayed with me furever

    Let’s see..

We had one cat who was a few months old that was found walking down the street by my mom’s then BF’s parents. Beautiful black cat, super loving.

Then we had another we adopted because a guy showed up at my mom’s work, said he had one kitten left from a litter that he was going to put in a sack and drown if it didn’t get adopted soon. Loved that cat. Lost him to leukemia when he was 7.

We had another we found at barely a few weeks old trying to climb our gas grill because she was starving. Calico, tough as heck, and lived to be almost 20. She was tiny her whole life (never more than 5 pounds), it she had attitude to spare and absolutely loved people.

Ended up with another than climbed out of a tree and ran up to one of the cheerleading coaches for the organization I cheered with. Made my mom (who was also a coach) hold her, and she and the other coach ended up going door to door to see if anyone owned her. No one claimed her, so home she came. Our dog thought that cat was hers.

Had a number of other cats, but those are the most interesting rescues.

I have been waiting to this......

so when a race horse is bred a normal horse is also bred so if the racehorse mum rejects its baby then the normal horse can adopt i. but then this leaves a homeless baby horse. syrup was this orphaned baby and he was kicked out and left on the side of the road to die at on one day old. I was driving past and saw him lying outside the breeding stud so I drove in and asked why he was there and the owners said either you take him or they kill him. so I picked him up and put him in the carseat with the seat warmer and took him home. where I raised him and now he and I are competing at a high level when the racehorse baby he was replanted with didn't ever win a race.

Ok, so I have 2. Both weren't mine but affected my beautiful dogs.

1: So my first dog-Bentley was put in a kill shelter and would be killed within the hour. :( Thankfully another animal shelter rescued him and he lives safe and sound.

2: My other doggo Mando (from The Mandalorian) was always put outside by his other owners, tied by a rope, never socializing...etc. Anyway one day he escaped and was rescued by animal control. We (my family) went to Bastrop County Shelter and rescued him!

I was at a field near my house when my then friends and I were walking the track and there was a medium sized black bird sitting by a tree. It wasn't moving in a whole field of people. We went near and let us pick it up. Its foot was bleeding so we washed it with water. Took it to a different open area with less people and let it fly. I was amazed at how friendly that bird was and i will never forget that moment.

2 days before Christmas I wanted a puppy but went to the pound instead. In there was a malnourished, cold frightened dog. She has no ppr work so I ask about her. They said she's not adoptable yet, waiting to see if she has a bad temper. Even if she is adoptable it won't be until fri (this was a mon) So I look at other dogs come back to her and just sit and talk to her, she's friendly with me but scared. I told her I'd be back. I go back on thurs just to see her and I stay awhile, she finally has her ppr work, so she will be adoptable on fri. Next day I go chk on her, go straight to the window and say she's mine. They hand her to me and I take her out of there. She will be her a year this Dec. Cookie is happy, healthy, and loves us as much as we love her!! Didnt get the puppy i wanted, I got the dog I needed that needed me. 😁

There are a lot of swift nests in the roof of the apartment that I live in. Last summer while I was walking on the garden, I saw a little bird which seemed dead. Then I noticed that the bird was alive. It was still a chick. It was a swift bird. I took the little swift home. I fed it with flies, bugs, and meat. A week later, it was ready to fly away. I carefully threw it to the air, out of the window. And it flew away...

It’s not mine, it’s my parents: my parents had heard from a relative that there was a dog being abused after the couple that owned her had children, because Honey (her old name) would jump up on them with excitement. My mom decided to persuade my dad to get her, and she somehow did just that. My older sister was being bombarded by my mom, who was asking if she liked Honey. My mom kept that up for a while, as my dad brought the dog home. We renamed her Maddi, and she was there for me since birth. She was like our mama-dog, and she was such a patient soul. We then got my other dog, Gauge, and they were sisters from then on. Maddi sadly passed away a few years ago, but she will always live in our hearts.

Idk if we actually rescued but we tried. At my old house, i was walking to go and get the mail and saw a dead possum by our mailbox. I went and told my mom and she came to take a look at it. The possum was dead but we discovered it had alive babies! Ants were trying to bite the small baby possums in her pouch but my mom out them in a shoebox. We gave them to a clinic of sorts to take care of. We never heard back from the clinic, but i hope they are doing good :)

    I actually have 2 rescue stories;

The first one happened about 10 years ago. I came home from work and heard a strange sound just outside my bedroom. I couldn't see anything inside, so I went out, and saw a poor chipmunk with his/her leg stuck between two bricks. I quickly grabbed some nuts, went upstairs, opened the closest window, removed the screen, carefully climbed onto the window ledge, showed the chipmunk the nuts, and slowly freed his/her leg. He/she ran away as soon as I freed him/her,but I later heard him/her come back for the nuts.

The second is our cat. My family and I went to an SPCA adoption event, and Lola was the first cat we picked up who purred. Poor thing was found living under a bridge. Her eyes and nose we're all pissed up from feline herpes, and we spent quite a bit for medicine and treatment. She's been with us for 8 years now, best decision we've ever made was to rescue her
