I was on holiday in Florida, and there was a narrow walkway between the main pool and the Jacuzzi area.

Of course, the one time my brother and I approached each-other head on from both directions, I didn’t have my armbands on.

Whilst trying to pass one another on this narrow strip, I fell backwards into the main pool and if it wasn’t for my dad diving into the pool (“like a whale” it was described) I would have likely drowned.

It was one of the earliest memoriesI have - I remember the pool/shape, but not being underwater.

When I was a toddler, we lived in a small one bedroom house. When I was born, my parents decided that I was getting the room and made two spacious basement room into their bedroom and office. From my room there was a corridor leading past the open stairs (meaning there was no door in front of it) to the basement and to the living room on the other end.

So because of me being a toddler, my parets had installed a gate in front of the stairs to keep me from falling down. One night, my mom was going out with some friends and my dad was in the kitchen, making dinner for the two of us. Apparently I had not grasped the concept of mom not being home in the evening and was convinced that she was downstairs in the office and I wanted to get to her. So I started throwing myself at the gate blocking me off from the basement, because that's what you do when you're like two years old and explore the world. First, my dad thought I was just wildly playing in my room, but as the bangs got louder he peeked out the kitchen door and saw what I was doing.

Just before he got to me, I finally broke the gate and went flying (guess that's why you call it a "flight of stairs, lol). Without thinking he jumped after me, allegedly caught me mid-air and somehow managed to turn around so we wouldn't both hit the ground/stairs face first. He had some minor concussions but not even a single broken bone and I was fine too. According to him I even had fun and wanted to do it again. Must've been hilarious.
