We all know the feeling of going to bed with wet hair and waking up with something that belongs in the unconventional contemporary art collection. And although it might look fun, we spend time and effort to get rid of that unique artwork before we go out in public. Ivorian artist and fashion designer Laetitia Ky does completely the opposite – she takes hair art to another level and embraces it like no one else.
The self-proclaimed polyvalent artist and activist use hair as an art medium to implement her creative ideas and convey her beliefs. This 22-year-old’s intricate and somewhat gravity-defying hair sculpture artworks masterfully designed on her own head are not only a source of entertainment to 167k followers on Instagram but an efficient tool of spreading powerful messages of self-love, tolerance, equality and speaking out her mind about politics and social issues.
We’ve already shared Ky’s whimsical hairstyles on Bored Panda, but she has since created new braided pieces ranging from animals to miniature people to everyday objects, and it’s impossible not to share. Each beautiful sculpture is brought to life using hair extensions, needle, fabric, wire, wool and it takes between 20 minutes to 2 hours to complete.
Scroll the page to see the amazing art yourself. Even if you don’t end up inspired for your next visit to the hair stylist, fun is a guarantee.

I posted on an earlier picture about her underarm hair and low and behold here it is.
Okay, I struggle with just drawing smokE SO PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW SHE DOES IT WITH HER HAIR.
Must be nice to be able to do STUPID THINGS like this, WAY TOO MUCH TIME on her hands, Maybe if it was REAL HAIR, that would be something, and by the way, the "GUN" is pointing the WRONG WAY!!!!
lol Are you implying that she should shoot herself?

Guys, I'm not just saying this because I'm angry I was downvoted. I am genuinely confused and want to avoid potentially offending anybody in the future. But I just had a few things to say. 1. How come all the positive, helpful, or simply nice comments are downvoted while all the mean, disgusting ones are getting 10, 20+ points? I don't know if it's really something I'm missing or if it's just, quoting @cc, it's just "racist trolls. They have too much time on their hands and no job to go to." 2. Let's do away with this! Come on, BP users! Let's turn this around. Downvote people like TJler and Sandy Feuerbacher. They are rude and jerkish and need to find something better to do than rip on people who say kind things. I personally went through and upvoted all the good comments with too many downvotes and downvoted all the bad comments with too many upvotes. Join in! TL;DR: Good comments are downvoted while bad comments are upvoted. Let's turn it around. Upvote and downvote what needs it!
From an article at CNN: "Born and raised in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Ky, now 22, earned a degree in business before realizing that the world of spreadsheets was not for her. Turning her attention to art, she was originally drawn to fashion; she bought a sewing machine and started teaching herself (...) The shift to hair was entirely accidental. Two years ago, scrolling through Instagram, she came across an account with photos of hairstyles worn by women in pre-colonial African tribes. "Their hairstyles were so artistic and incredible," said Ky. "I had never seen anything like it." https://edition.cnn.com/style/article/laetitia-ky-dazed-beauty/index.html She has 167.000 followers on Instagram.
Bored Panda! BORED PANDA!!! Are you asleep? Take a look at what is going on here please, I don´t know if it is a juvenile troll or an unrepentant racist, but I do know that if it is not the one, then it is the other!
