In June 2015, I started a personal ongoing series of photographic essays casing lives of real people throughout several cities of the West coast of the United States. People like you and me, who had plans and dreams, but for whatever reason ended up in the streets or shelters.
The idea of the project is rather simple: I engage with them, I listen to their stories and share, whenever allowed, their pictures and written narrative of ours conversations. The project’s purpose is to bring awareness to the fine line that separates society and the homeless and hopefully break this massive social wall that makes them practically invisible for most of us.
Over the timespan of one year, Careful: Soul Inside gained its own gallery exibition and has been showedcase in a few local newspapers and television throughout the West Coast of the United States.

Such warmth and openness in that face...and those eyes, those eyes...
You have captured their humanity, and that spark behind their eyes that says 'I'm still here'. This is a powerful series.

My brother, Brian, has been homeless off and on in downtown Toronto. Any one of these men could be him. Brian has schizophrenia and is autistic and nearly 70 years old now. I pray for him each night. I hope he is still alive.

I Agree with you, Joel... it is rather sad seeing so many people, who just need some help, have to go through so much!
Load More Replies...All of their eyes have so many thoughts and stories behind them :o)
Silent, Thank you... I am so glad you admire them!
