50 Funny Memes With A Twist Of Horror, As Shared On This Instagram Page
Interview With ExpertWe can use the word 'gothic' to refer to literature, music, fashion, and even an entire lifestyle. It's hard to describe this nuanced subculture with just a few words, but to put it simply, a goth is someone who finds beauty in things others consider dark.
But to provide you with a better explanation, we decided to take a look at the Instagram account 'Gothik Soul' and the memes it shares. From friendships to dating, work, and beyond — they perfectly portray how the world looks when you view it through this group's lens.

That's why I love Terry Pratchett's Death. They're so funny too
"Goth style is complex," Tim Sinister, the man behind The Blogging Goth, a website that covers the culture, told Bored Panda. "It's instantly recognizable when you see it, yet hard to fully define in mere words."
"Since coalescing over four decades ago, it's constantly reinvented itself while also maintaining a spectacular somberness that continues to entice new adherents. It encompasses so many people, from original fans of The Cure since '79, to teenagers emerging right now with a love for bands like Vision Video or Lebanon Hanover."
Just like how every Family Guy character is technically a Disney character.
Because of some surface-level media portrayals and people's tendency to oversimplify things we don't understand, there are also several misconceptions about the community. "People may be surprised that goths have an excellent sense of humor; as 'Gothik Soul' proves, we live, we laugh, we loathe!" Tim Sinister said.
"My audience on The Blogging Goth particularly enjoys the most current, cutting-edge memes. Beyond that, people should let go of the idea that goths are violence-loving, devil-worshipping misanthropes who consume joy and excrete sadness. Sure, some of us may lean into that image, but in reality, goth is a subculture that attracts people from all walks of life," he added.
As a longtime member of the scene, Tim Sinister wants people to forget the stereotypes of goths being skinny white vampire clones and start embracing all the different ways they can engage with the music and other aspects of the culture, regardless of who they are.
"Hand in hand with that, people need to stop sexualizing goth women—it's an endemic online problem that reduces complex individuals to unreal fantasies and is unfair," he said.
This would totally be me, correcting his grammar like the grammar nazi I am!
Tim Sinister explained that since goth is such an influential subculture, it offers something for everyone, whether they're drawn to its classic roots or the fresh, creative energy it continues to inspire. "I'd encourage everyone to observe how goth encourages innovation and creativity, whilst also trying to stay true to its origins! We have classic bands from the '80s playing huge festivals across the world, inspiring brand new bands to form and support them—I love that cycle more than anything else!" he shared.
"Beyond that, goth at its best supports glamorous creativity and acceptance of differences, both of which are traits we could all benefit from embodying," Tim Sinister said.
"We have a rare freedom, I always say. Goths can listen to any music they want at all beyond the goth genre, but others seem scared of what might happen if they listen to goth music—the only real risk is that they love it, and fall into our spooky scene!"
Hopefully, these memes will help bridge the gap!
For goodness sake BP you censored her surname! It’s getting ridiculous now.
Quite right. You shouldn't bottle things up.
I love old fashioned children's book illustrations! Many of my own books, mainly from the 1960s to 1980s, are illustrated in this style
"How do you perceive the gothic lifestyle as portrayed in 'Gothik Soul' memes?" Crippled with nostalgia, but I have work to do.
