Girlfriends Share What Their Home Looks Like Compared To Their Boyfriend’s And It’s A Nightmare
You can’t expect everyone to be as tidy as you are. Sooner or later, you’ll come to a friend’s or colleague’s home and notice that other people have a whole different standard for cleanliness… or perhaps a standard for messiness, in some cases.
A bit of a trend in the vein of exposing messy boyfriends has started arising on TikTok lately. A TikToker by the nickname madelynkrueger recently shared a video where she compared the level of tidiness in her home to that of her boyfriend, after which a number of other ladies did the same.
Needless to say, one apartment was clean, the other—oof. We’ll let you see for yourself which one’s which and how big this oof really is.
This TikToker was recently invited to stay the night at her boyfriend’s house, which left her surprised

So, TikTok user madelynkrueger shared a video showing just how clean her place is and how contrary to that her boyfriend’s place is. It starts off with the caption “when it’s your turn to stay at his place” and a view of a tidy bedroom that belongs to Madelyn as she waves good-bye. She then flicks the switch to turn off the light and transitions to the flat of her boyfriend.
She arrived to find a bit of a mess in her boyfriend’s apartment, “a bit” being an understatement

Everything from the floors to the shower and toilet all seem like they haven’t seen a mop and sponge in months

She arrives to find her boyfriend’s apartment, which is not all that good when it comes to hygiene: dirty floors that haven’t seen a mop in months, bathroom water residue and grime in the shower, toilet, and sink, unrecycled empty bottles, and the like.
Now, if you’re invited to stay the night at your significant other’s place, it’s normal to expect to see the place cleaned up, not only because it’s hygienic and the right thing to do, but also because it shows respect for the guests. But nope, the guy in the video is seen just chilling on the bed with his laptop, seemingly not bothered by the mess.
So, she decided to make a video showing the contrast in tidiness and it became a trend on TikTok

After madelynkrueger’s video was posted on TikTok, a number of other women did the same thing

This video launched a slight her place vs. his place trend on TikTok. A number of other women, like achendricks, naturally-natalieeng, karibethconant, katiedragoo, and madisonmercog, to name a few, made videos of how messy their boyfriends are.
And for the most part, these were even messier: shaved hair around the sink, open toothpaste tubes, unwashed towels, garbage strewn about on the floor. The list goes on and on.
It seemed like others were trying to one-up the original by also showing near-empty fridges, wet towels, etc

Madelyn’s video soon went viral, garnering over 3.5 million views with over 301,200 likes, 30,000 shares and 11,000 comments.
People online had a lot of questions: namely, how is this even possible and why are they even dating? For some, it was important to point out that it does go both ways as they have met some untidy women in their lives and could do a similar comparison the other way around.
Yet another woman made an analogous video with her boyfriend’s place that looks like it has no garbage can

Others also noted that this is probably someone in their high-school or college years. They explained that it is common among students to be this messy as a sense of cleanliness often develops (hopefully) at a later time.
Many have said that the right thing to do would be to tell them to clean up and to keep it that way because it may become a toxic element of their relationship later on. Either that, or never date them at all.
Not only was the inside something shocking, but also the yard outside—there’s that trash can!

Share on FacebookHopefully the guy got out of that toxic relationship. Shaming him like that...only gonna get worse. Find someone who treats you with respect. Goes both ways
The guy needs to clean up his house and his habits, but yeah public shaming and "can you believe this slob" are not helpful.
Load More Replies...My concern is that these guys dating girls so they will clean up after them, make them food and generally serve their every whim. Why else would a guy bring over his girl and show her such an alarming mess? If he actually cared about her or their relationship, they'd at least TRY to clean some of it up. So ya the lack of effort is a big red flag. To the ladies of these boys: start as you wish to continue. You are not his maid, you are his equal, his partner and work is shared. If he tries to treat you like an object, leave, he does not deserve you and you will be happier living with dignity and not as someone's personal maid.
They don't want a girlfriend, they want their mommy.
Load More Replies...Well I'm a woman and the messy one in the relationship. Stop shaming people... Its hard to change habbits and a way to see things.
I not perfect either. I have my disaster weeks, where I just don't do anything. BUT if I know someone is potentially coming over. I clean and get it into a presentable state. I do find, the more I like someone, the better I do on my cleaning job. So these guys clearly don't give two flying Fs about themselves, their home or their girlfriends. The ladies, going by their bedrooms, have got their s**t together, they need a man who cares enough about himself and her to clean his s**t up.
Load More Replies...The first one wasn't that bad. I thought it was petty. Yep there was a dead mouse on the side but that was because the mouse took the mask off. A warning to all those that don't wear a mask as you see. The second house yeah was in a state.
I feel a little sorry for both parties; the guys need to find better girlfriends - this public/social media shaming crap NEEDS to STOP ... and the girls, if you aren't willing to talk to your guys privately about this sort of thing, and get some sort of results, then maybe you should be vetting your dating partners a little more meticulously
Might have known it would be the woman’s responsibility to fix
Load More Replies...I was dating a guy whose house was always spotless, better than mine in fact! Then his mum, who lived in the next suburb, fell and broke her arm and suddenly his house became a pigsty. Turns out she was coming over Monday and Friday to clean, wash dishes, do his laundry.. dude was in his late 30s. SMH
🤦♀️I’d prefer to date someone with a messy place than someone whose mother comes and cleans up for him. Making your mother clean your house when you’re in your 30s? F****d up.
Load More Replies...I don't want to start a war by putting something controversial, so hi!
First time I spent the night at his place the bathroom was FILTHY and the bedroom not much better. I was young, stupid, and we both has "other things" on our minds . 28 years later I'm still waiting to see him scrub a toilet! Pay attention ladies (and gents too, for that matter -it goes both ways). If a habit bugs you a little bit now, it isn't likely to improve!
So many questions arise... First of all, if their houses are that filthy, they probably aren't so clean either. Secondly, why would someone stay at a place like this? Even if they love their boyfriends so much that they can ignore their house being a pigsty, why do they have to stay in the pigsty too? And third, how much do these men actually (not) appreciate their significant others, judging by the fact that they don't even bother to clean or tidy up before they visit?
Isn’t anyone gonna talk about those girls’ 💯 bedrooms? I would be terrified to even go in there in case I accidentally misplace a pillow and get thrown out of a window.
They probably cleaned them up a bit before putting them on Tik Tok, but tbh same
Load More Replies...If this guy doesn't even emergency clean when he knows someone is coming over, you know he is a slob.
He trusted her to enter his home and she betrayed it by making it all public. Did she get his permission first? If she didn't like the mess, she could have just offered him help in cleaning up instead of shaming him publicly. Ugh... I hope she's his ex now.
While she is a pos for public shaming are you seriously suggesting offering to help a grown ass man who is presumably entirely capable of cleaning? You clean your own mess. Period. If he can’t do that now when you’re still dating and trying to impress each other he probably won’t do it later.
Load More Replies...Sigh. 2020 and many boys/men still think, cleaning is not something they need to do. For Godssake, can the parents of this world PLEASE start raising self-reliant men who are able to look after them, tehir health and their home?
Pretty broad and ignorant generalization you’ve made
Load More Replies...DTMFA. If he doesn't respect his girlfriend enough to get the rotten food off the floor and the toxic waste out of the sink, then he's a complete loser. MEN don't leave messes like this. This idiot doesn't want a girlfriend, he wants his Mommy.
unfortunately some men and WOMEN do live like this. Some people have OCD and some dont.
Load More Replies...It is ok for men when women suffer in silence after rape and society do nothing. It is ok for men women to have no way out of abusive relationships. It is ok for men women to care of everything and everyone while they slack. It is ok men to make sexist jokes and comment in public. It is ok for men to post revenge porn and no one to do nothing. But suddenly, nowadays when women show men's true face in public - oooh, public shaming not ok. How other way this insanity will stop if we don't do this? So many butthurt incels in the comments.
My daughter married her man.... same warning signs! Now she complains he doesn’t help with the housework!!!
This is a gender thing. For generations women have been expected to take on men’s personal care: their eating, their personal hygiene, their domestic cleaning, their laundry, their infections and illnesses. Either unpaid or paid. For millions it’s the only paid employment available to them. If a woman is messy, no man is going to be available to pick up after her.
Gawd you're a sissy-baby-whiner-boy! Show us on the doll where the mean girl told you not to live like a pig.
Load More Replies...This is ridiculous. Publicly shaming someone for being messy is absolutely insane. I just don't believe how some people can get so entitled and contemptuous. To those ladies: just f**k off and get a new boyfriend if you're sick of his habits.
The article title is all wrong. This is not a gender war. Females/women are messy as fu€|{ too. My sister looks very attractive and clean to the world, but she still leaves sanitary napkins and old, uneaten food in her drawers. Regardless of your age, if you’re old enough to date, you’re old enough to clean up after yourself (not just for a date). Better yet, don’t make a mess in the first place.
Don't you ever dare to clean it! At some point he will invite you over only for that!
My son shared an apartment for a few years. The room of his roommate and the (shared) living room looked just like that, most of the times. The only (halfway) clean areas were the bathroom and my son's room. My son too had clothes lying around .. and he should have vacuumed more often ... but at least the floor wasn't sticky (from whatever🤢) and there weren't any leftovers or empty packaging, cans and bottles lying around.
I can't stand looking at a mess that's why my room is always clean, I have slight OCD and messes can sometimes irritate me.
This is nothing compared to my friends apartment. At least he tries to clean it up.
There are men that are terrible when it comes to having a clean home environment to live in. However, there are also women that are just as bad. So stop shaming.
Date him if you want to, just don't marry him or move in with him. You'll be cleaning up behind him forever, and he'll expect you to.
WOMEN.......Raise your sons to be good husbands! Teach them to clean, cook, and how to do laundry. Its amazing these men survive past College. introduce them to a dry-cleaner, and show them how to compare grocery prices as well as as read labels. There is a reason men don't live as long as Women.....this is one example. Teach them to survive longer in the wild, and maybe they will pick a better mate!
Sometimes a messy person is totally worth it, as illustrated in this Guinness commercial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hieKgQNQpMA
Don't do it, ladies. If a grown man chooses to live like a pig, he can sleep in his dusty sheets alone. A grown man should not be living like a feral pig on the lam. It won't get better after marriage. You'll be constantly picking up after him, while he feigns ignorance on how to do basic chores. Only date grown men who know how to respect themselves, and their partners, with a clean and tidy living environment they are capable of maintaining themselves.
I mean, okay, they're not the cleanest people but this is humiliating your partner in public and that is not okay, ever.
When I first saw the article I assumed it was going to be about the backlash she received, not a trend she started. I wouldn’t put up with that but I also wouldn’t post it for the world to see. Rude af

I do; by far, the most cleaning in our 3 bedroom apartment in NYC. She makes up for that in other ways. It all balances out in the end.
My roommate and I are the exact opposite lol! He is super clean and I’m a total mess. Not disgusting really but still so messy.
Well If I came into something like this, I'd just turn around and say a quick goodbye to him. Such men need a charlady not a girfriend. Imagine marry a pig like this. No, thanks.
Imagine marrying a bitch like that who’d post it online. No thanks.
