Actually, there is a species of bat that drinks blood, but mostly from farm animals. But bats can still spread disease and parasites without biting. They’re lovely creatures and do great things for our environment, but they’re wild animals unless born in captivity.

Eh, I'm no professional but I know that people who, say, rescue bats and have to handle them get vaccinated in case and advise people not to handle bats if they aren't, so while bats don't generally bite people, if you're going to be grabbing them, they might in self-defense.

WRONG. Bats do bite when they feel threatened. Also yes their droppings can make people very VERY sick.
