Sick and tired of being considered a millennial, proud zoomer @mayalepa made a TikTok, saying that she doesn’t want to be associated with people who still think that Harry Potter movies are a personality trait. A second later, Gen Z are taking stabs at their predecessors in the comments under the video.

82K likes later, Twitter user @local__celeb reshares some of the best roasts, and her tweet instantly goes viral. At that point, millennials noticed that their title of the most edgy generation was under attack, so they began  to return fire.

Apparently, zoomers aren’t crazy about millennials

When you look at the two groups closely, they’re quite different. Generation Z, or zoomers, consist of those born in 1995 or later. They are said to live in a world of continuous updating, are tech-savvy and process information way faster than other generations, thus their attention spans are shorter than millennials’.

Zoomers often can be less focused than their millennial counterparts. They will create a document on their school computer, do research on their phone while taking notes on a notepad, then finish everything by watching Netflix while sitting next to a friend. You get it; they’re multitaskers. They can quickly switch between work and play, with multiple distractions going on in the background.

And after one of them uploaded a TikTok expressing this opinion

Millennials and zoomers look differently at money, too. The former cares about it more than the latter, arguably because they came of age during the recession. One survey said that 67% of millennials would go to the website to get a coupon before buying a certain product, whereas only 46% of Gen Z polled said they would do the same. That would explain why more millennials click on ads than zoomers.

And since 40% of Gen Z identify themselves as digital device addicts, it’s no wonder they chose TikTok to start their war against millennials.

Why have there been so many generational conflicts on the Internet lately? Is that an American thing to find conflict everywhere? (I'm seriously asking)

I could never relate to any of these generational posts. There are no sharp lines, and neither people nor times can be generalized.

What can be generalized, though, is that there are obly two kinds of people in the world. Those who use TikTok and those who keep on wondering what the additional value of that platform might be. I count myself to the latter.
