Gay Man Gets Turned Down From Adopting A Rescue Cat, So He Shares The Texts Online
What makes you a good cat dad? Love for the animal? Owning a flat with a large enclosed outside space? Nope. Your sexuality, apparently.
Alex Andreou is a UK-based writer and actor who recently decided it was time to adopt a kitty. Following an ad, he traveled two hours to meet a person who said their little furball was in desperate need of re-homing. However, they changed their mind after finding out that Alex is gay. And that’s just the beginning of the story. As the bigot turned out to be a psycho, things just kept getting weirder and weirder. Scroll down to read the whole story in Alex’s own words.

We should learn from animals. They don't care if their human is black, white, gay, straight, tall, short or whatever. Just as long as they are nice people who have love and kindness in their hearts, pets are happy.

I'm just replying to Js comment. I am a Christian. I do not believe that I have made the wrong choice or that it is wrong to be a Christian. However, I do find it wrong about what this women said. I feel like some people can become TOO religious and discriminate. NOT ALL CHRISTENS OR RELIGIONS ARE LIKE THIS! Even if I wasn't religious, I would still believe that some people r being a hypocrite. What else would u call saying bad things about a religion because of what they believe and getting mad at them for saying something bad about gays when u r doing the same thing to them? I believe that people have the right to be gay, but people also have the right to be religious without ur harsh comments.

There are religious groups that march in support in my town's Pride parade. I was happy to see a Catholic group (the first) this year. There are also denominations that perform same-sex weddings.

Would a god that tortures people for all eternity on account of who they fall in love with/ have sex with really be worth worshipping? Any god that did not want Homosexaulity to be a thing could simply have made it impossible, in the same way that drinking Lava does not need to made a sin because it's not posible to do.

Especially given the fact that all 4 verses in the Bible prohibiting homosexuality were inserted by Pope Constantine I as a measure to combat the population decline that was happening at the time. The reason was that the general attitude was that women were only for procreation and were not capable of feeling passion, love, true emotion, etc., so if you wanted a truly passionate loving relationship, you had it with another man. If you needed an heir, you slept with a woman until she was pregnant, then you went back to your boyfriend for the emotional connection. This attitude was contributing to a declining birthrate, so the Pope decreed that G-d said sex between men is evil and you'll go to hell if you do it. Once that decree was made, birth rates started to climb. There's a book about the secular history of the Bible and the Church that is fascinating. It explains how a lot of things the faithful of the major religions assume as the given word of G-d were actually politically, financially, and sometimes just plain a*****e-y motivated.

They are great company and very affectionate. I miss all my kitties so much, no matter how many years have gone by.

I went through a scam like this in October. Answered two different craigslist adds about kittens. They wanted to meet behind a grocery store an charge me $100 for the cats (each diff listing asked for that amount). When I asked for more photos I was sent a pic that was photoshopped. I mentioned I needed to see a few photos not altered to show my husband. Then I get a reply from both texters that they can meet me for one cat. One was grey. One was black. But was from two diff numbers about the black cat. I asked what about the grey one. Oh that was adopted. Well then why are you messsgaeing me from two numbers? Oh that's my gfs phone. Ummm the texts came literally 15 sec apart an w the same info copy/pasted. I went to the adds an reported them. Then replying to both numbers in a group texts I screen shot them replying and told them to stop scamming people. I could have wound up behind a store an robbed and no cats existed. I did go through a local adoption group and got my new baby.

I am religious. And...I think that someone who can find love not matter the sex...its beautiful. And who is she to determine that this man wouldn't be a great dad to those kitties. He may be a better cat owner than someone who's straight. Being religious isn't a crutch to justify cruel behavior. Love is love and beautiful not matter what. Maybe if we all loved each other more the world would be a HELL of a lot better.

"I am religious..." Well, lady, please don't bring in religion when you talk about being homophobic. It causes people to think badly of religion, and it honestly shouldn't have anything to do with it. I should know. I'm an extreme Catholic, and I am fully supportive of the gay community. Heck, all my best friends are Bi. I'm just sick of people hating on religion for stuff like this, you really shouldn't. Religion should make people better, Christianity teaches that you should try to love all people and try to be as forgiving and kind as possible. It doesn't matter what their sexuality, race, religion, or gender is. We all want to make the world a better place, and hating on religion and being homophobic isn't going to help in any way.

I drove an hour and a half to get a puppy, the guy sent pictures and agreed to meet at a local aquarium parking lot (For safety reasons) and the guy never showed. I can understand changing your mind, but just flat out ignoring me was a major let down. Maybe there was no dog and he was serial killer. Either way, several days later I met a nice family that was homing some puppies and nine years later she's still the apple of my eye.

This is just my opinion and beliefs so I could be wrong but I think that hell is eternal separation from God. The Bible uses a lot of metaphors, so a lot of scholars and people think that it was just a metaphor for hell. However we could be wrong. Also I am a Christian who supports LGBTQ+ people. I am not LGBTQ+ but I believe in equity and will support them. Why should we tear down people who are different? Telling someone that they can't adopt a cat because the person who wants to adopt is gay is just wrong. I'm glad he finally got the kittens!

You can disagree how others live their life but that DOES NOT give anyone the right to judge a person or make ignorant statements to a person. I do not care who you are if I don't agree with something that you believe in don't push your beliefs on me period!! I don't give a damn how religious a person is, that person has not always been holy than thou so just because you found "GOD" in your life does not mean everything from your past that you have done just disappears. And I thought it was "thou shall not judge" so obviously you live by some of the Bible but not all of it so mind your business because another person's life does not affect your life so why do you feel the need to go out of your way to insult a person about their lifestyle??? Well... that's how "religious" people act, instead of sharing love. What else can you expect from that kind of people? On the other hand... what would've have happened if the story was the other way around? Nobody would've even noticed... I respect gay people, but I don't like the idea of them always trying to be "special" and "relevant"... makes no sense sharing this story on social networks to get popular and catch people's attention and support.

She didn't refuse to give him the cats because he was gay. She did the same to others as well. She advertised cats, just so she could say "no" to people. Because she got some sort of a twisted kick out of it. Homophobia is unfair. But, let's not turn this into something it wasn't. Maybe she uses the ad, to try and “ save a soul” or some other trip she is on. Bottom line, we don’t make the final decision on how or who makes it to heaven. So, be kind to everyone, and let God do the choosing on who get in and who doesn’t. Personally, I think HE HAS DIFFERENT requirements than humans do, and LBGTQ, PEOPLE OF COLOR AND anyone, have just as much right as a do folder, to get in to heaven. Just sayin’!

Religion is the cause for most all of the problems in this world, and definitely IS the basis for every war ever waged. Mr. Andreou: I would say MOST people don't give a damn about your sex life. The emphasis is, and should be by EVERYONE, that you are an upstanding citizen treating friends and critters with love and care. You would be quite welcome in my neighborhood and in fact, and better yet, my next door neighbor! Be happy, live well and a long and healthy life! Including your critters!

Okay, the fact that this religious mystery cat offering person is simultaneously claiming that the cats are 'so very dear to her' while also stating that 'all cats look the same'... bullcrap. Either you care for your cat or you don't. No one who truly cares for their pet would say such a thing. Also, these days, if you've got a phone, you've got a camera. And almost everyone has some kind of cell phone. I think it was a complete scam from the beginning. Like he said, some sort of weird power trip. Bizarre. Or maybe something more dangerous. Ok you say you are from London and are wanting to re-home unwanted cats. There are more than a couple of cat rescue centers in the London area. The Cats' Protection League Address: 135 Junction Rd, Archway, London N19 5PX, UK and of course Battersea Dogs and Cats' Home Address: 4 Battersea Park Rd, London SW8 4AA, UK. I am quite sure that the staff there will have no problem about you being gay. After all look at the the amount of series Paul O'Grady did with the people in Battersea and he is well gay. I know his programmes focused on the dogs but the same staff there look after the cats too. All the staff in these places want is for their animals to go to a warm, safe and loving home where they will be cared for for the rest of their lives and since you are prepared to provide that, there will be no problem for you adopting cats from them. Give them a call, I am sure they will love to hear from you. G☺☺d Luck.

This sent me through so many emotions and thoughts, and the comments section did so too. I’m very glad this man got some cats. He deserves them. Your sexuality (along with a billion other things) shouldn’t be a problem. The woman, according to the man, would try to come up with reasons to not give the cats she supposedly had away, so she may not have been religious.

Anyone that knows me knows that I love my two cats more than my own life. If something were to happen to me or my husband, I would let this guy care for them in a second. I've found that gay guys are more conscientious, more attentive and just more involved in general than straight guys. I wish I could contact this guy and ask to put him in my will in case I need someone to care for mine. Also, Freddy Purrcury is one of the best names ever. Those are two lucky cats.

This is such a weird story, glad it has a happy end! By the way - to any other Londoners who are able to provide home for a cat or a dog, you can definitely check out Battersea Cat and Dog Rescue House! I've been there last year and they always have cats and doggies who are desperate for some love and place to call home.

I find that most "Christian" people that act this way are very unhappy with their own lives..probably because they missed God's true messages. Love conquers all and treat others as you would want to be treated. Besides, I'm a firm believer that only God has the right to judge another' lifestyle..not us humans. Most "Christians" also forgot one of Jesus's biggest lessons.."Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

"Wants" to be gay? So, you consciously made the decision to be attracted to one sex over the other... You said to yourself, "Self, I am attracted to dudes and I'm attracted to ladies...hmmmm...which one do I want to be attracted to from this moment out?" No one 'wants' to be one way or the other, they just are. It's not a lifestyle choice, it's not a decision, it's not being turned, it is the way people are when they are born. I'm just replying to Js comment. I am a Christian. I do not believe that I have made the wrong choice or that it is wrong to be a Christian. However, I do find it wrong about what this women said. I feel like some people can become TOO religious and discriminate. NOT ALL CHRISTENS OR RELIGIONS ARE LIKE THIS! Even if I wasn't religious, I would still believe that some people r being a hypocrite. What else would u call saying bad things about a religion because of what they believe and getting mad at them for saying something bad about gays when u r doing the same thing to them? I believe that people have the right to be gay, but people also have the right to be religious without ur harsh comments.

Especially given the fact that all 4 verses in the Bible prohibiting homosexuality were inserted by Pope Constantine I as a measure to combat the population decline that was happening at the time. The reason was that the general attitude was that women were only for procreation and were not capable of feeling passion, love, true emotion, etc., so if you wanted a truly passionate loving relationship, you had it with another man. If you needed an heir, you slept with a woman until she was pregnant, then you went back to your boyfriend for the emotional connection. This attitude was contributing to a declining birthrate, so the Pope decreed that G-d said sex between men is evil and you'll go to hell if you do it. Once that decree was made, birth rates started to climb. There's a book about the secular history of the Bible and the Church that is fascinating. It explains how a lot of things the faithful of the major religions assume as the given word of G-d were actually politically, financially, and sometimes just plain a*****e-y motivated.

I went through a scam like this in October. Answered two different craigslist adds about kittens. They wanted to meet behind a grocery store an charge me $100 for the cats (each diff listing asked for that amount). When I asked for more photos I was sent a pic that was photoshopped. I mentioned I needed to see a few photos not altered to show my husband. Then I get a reply from both texters that they can meet me for one cat. One was grey. One was black. But was from two diff numbers about the black cat. I asked what about the grey one. Oh that was adopted. Well then why are you messsgaeing me from two numbers? Oh that's my gfs phone. Ummm the texts came literally 15 sec apart an w the same info copy/pasted. I went to the adds an reported them. Then replying to both numbers in a group texts I screen shot them replying and told them to stop scamming people. I could have wound up behind a store an robbed and no cats existed. I did go through a local adoption group and got my new baby.

It causes people to think badly of religion, and it honestly shouldn't have anything to do with it. I should know. I'm an extreme Catholic, and I am fully supportive of the gay community. Heck, all my best friends are Bi. I'm just sick of people hating on religion for stuff like this, you really shouldn't. Religion should make people better, Christianity teaches that you should try to love all people and try to be as forgiving and kind as possible. I drove an hour and a half to get a puppy, the guy sent pictures and agreed to meet at a local aquarium parking lot (For safety reasons) and the guy never showed. I can understand changing your mind, but just flat out ignoring me was a major let down. Maybe there was no dog and he was serial killer. Either way, several days later I met a nice family that was homing some puppies and nine years later she's still the apple of my eye.

This is just my opinion and beliefs so I could be wrong but I think that hell is eternal separation from God. The Bible uses a lot of metaphors, so a lot of scholars and people think that it was just a metaphor for hell. However we could be wrong. Also I am a Christian who supports LGBTQ+ people. I am not LGBTQ+ but I believe in equity and will support them. Why should we tear down people who are different? Telling someone that they can't adopt a cat because the person who wants to adopt is gay is just wrong. I'm glad he finally got the kittens!

You can disagree how others live their life but that DOES NOT give anyone the right to judge a person or make ignorant statements to a person. I don't give a damn how religious a person is, that person has not always been holy than thou so just because you found "GOD" in your life does not mean everything from your past that you have done just disappears. Maybe she uses the ad, to try and “ save a soul” or some other trip she is on. Bottom line, we don’t make the final decision on how or who makes it to heaven. So, be kind to everyone, and let God do the choosing on who get in and who doesn’t. Religion is the cause for most all of the problems in this world, and definitely IS the basis for every war ever waged. Mr. Andreou: I would say MOST people don't give a damn about your sex life. The emphasis is, and should be by EVERYONE, that you are an upstanding citizen treating friends and critters with love and care. Okay, the fact that this religious mystery cat offering person is simultaneously claiming that the cats are 'so very dear to her' while also stating that 'all cats look the same'... bullcrap. Either you care for your cat or you don't. No one who truly cares for their pet would say such a thing. Also, these days, if you've got a phone, you've got a camera. And almost everyone has some kind of cell phone. I think it was a complete scam from the beginning. Like he said, some sort of weird power trip. Bizarre. Or maybe something more dangerous. Ok you say you are from London and are wanting to re-home unwanted cats. There are more than a couple of cat rescue centers in the London area. The Cats' Protection League Address: 135 Junction Rd, Archway, London N19 5PX, UK and of course Battersea Dogs and Cats' Home Address: 4 Battersea Park Rd, London SW8 4AA, UK. I am quite sure that the staff there will have no problem about you being gay. After all look at the the amount of series Paul O'Grady did with the people in Battersea and he is well gay. I know his programmes focused on the dogs but the same staff there look after the cats too. All the staff in these places want is for their animals to go to a warm, safe and loving home where they will be cared for for the rest of their lives and since you are prepared to provide that, there will be no problem for you adopting cats from them. Give them a call, I am sure they will love to hear from you. G☺☺d Luck.

Anyone that knows me knows that I love my two cats more than my own life. If something were to happen to me or my husband, I would let this guy care for them in a second. I've found that gay guys are more conscientious, more attentive and just more involved in general than straight guys. I wish I could contact this guy and ask to put him in my will in case I need someone to care for mine. Also, Freddy Purrcury is one of the best names ever. Those are two lucky cats.

I've been there last year and they always have cats and doggies who are desperate for some love and place to call home.

If anything I would think a gay guy would make the best cat parent ever. Those kitties will be spoiled, get the best of everything, always tasteful. Those are two lucky kitties! That woman is just a crazy nutjob!

I find that most "Christian" people that act this way are very unhappy with their own lives..probably because they missed God's true messages. Love conquers all and treat others as you would want to be treated. Besides, I'm a firm believer that only God has the right to judge another' lifestyle..not us humans. Most "Christians" also forgot one of Jesus's biggest lessons.."Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

I love happy endings 😺 . But that woman was/is nuts; I'm not sure she was ever ready to give up the cats or if there even are/were any cats to begin with or if she made them up. Maybe she's just lonely wants to meet new people, in that case she should find another way.

One thing that got me is when that bloke said about the burner phone, that he replied with what he did? I did not see that mentioned. I, for one, have a strong dislike for being called out on something I did not do. Segregation much? But besides that, the kitties are gorgeous and am glad he got them!

"Wants" to be gay? So, you consciously made the decision to be attracted to one sex over the other... You said to yourself, "Self, I am attracted to dudes and I'm attracted to ladies...hmmmm...which one do I want to be attracted to from this moment out?" No one 'wants' to be one way or the other, they just are. It's not a lifestyle choice, it's not a decision, it's not being turned, it is the way people are when they are born. It's terrible to hear that in the 21st century people still think it's a decision or choice and refuse to understand it just is.
