HBO Responds To Leaving That Coffee Cup In Game Of Thrones Scene, Says It’s Not Starbucks
Game of Thrones fans were up in arms over the ‘Battle at Winterfell’ because they couldn’t see a thing – well in this weeks episode “The Last of the Starks,” the fourth episode (and third-to-last) of the eighth and final season, it appears they saw too much. During a party scene in the better lit episode, fans noticed a prop that didn’t appear to fit in with quasi-medieval realm – a lone Starbucks cup.
Despite the hard work and attention to detail the production designers and their crew put into each episode, it seems someone didn’t have their coffee that day and left the unapproved prop laying in front of Emilia Clarke.

HBO now clarified that this was in fact, a mistake: “We’re sorry!” Bernie Caulfield, an executive producer tells WNYC radio

Game of Thrones art director Hauke Richter joined the conversation and expressed that he believed the snafu was hardly a big deal. “Things can get forgotten on set,’ he told Variety on Monday. “[The coffee cup has been] so blown out of proportion [because] it has not happened with Thrones so far.”
However, executive producer Bernadette Caulfield took a more apologetic tone and said she was shocked. “I can’t believe it,” she told WYNC. “Our on-set prop people and decorators are so on it one thousand percent. I just honestly can’t, I’m like, is that really? Because nowadays you can’t believe what you see because people can put things into a photo that really doesn’t exist. But I guess maybe it was there, I’m not sure. But, yeah. We’re sorry!”
Starbucks also gave their response:

HBO also clarified that it wasn’t a Starbucks coffee cup that was accidentally left on Daenerys table
Check out these GoT Facts That you Probably Didn’t Know!
Criticize all you like. You try facing the Night King without a cup of coffee.
I've worked on sets and trust me, it's possible to miss something. There's so much going on, the crew has a lot to focus on, actors are often careless. If it's noticed in post, there's not really much they can do about it-it's not like the scene can be re-shot. All they can do is edit to the best of their ability and hope no one notices. .
i used to work nights and i hated it. the pay might be good [night pay is higher] but you feel weird and your sleep isn't the same as you do at night. i found myself nodding off on breaks [and even during calls].
Load More Replies...That Marlon Fuentes fella in the comments at the end of this post is a twat. This guy probably cries when it rains. Go eat an entire bag of d***s.
Next weeks episode, they will misplace a Benz for Drogon... yeah, mistake my a$$
Am I the only one who noticed the tea bag wrapper behind the cup? So she got her herbal tea.
Has nobody ever cleaned there room of rubbish, checked several times, then realised there's still a can of coke on their desk because it somehow blends in? The problem is they mixed their real life with the fantasy world too much that, to them, it all became normal. A sword next to a bowl of cereal, a set of armour next to a packet of chips/crisps. Stricter rules would have prevented this, sadly these fuckups are how these rules are implemented.
“Some fans blamed Sansa”? Even though other people were shown to have coffee in their hands. Geez, some people will blame Sansa for everything even though she is a fan favorite and pretty much the ONLY character this season who is intelligent and cares about the people and can see through other people’s b******t and won’t kiss a*s to someone being a dangerous tyrant. *Cough*Daenerys*Cough*
