‘That’s It, I’m Home Shaming’: 30 Times People Were Really Appalled By The Homes They Saw
A few months ago, we at Bored Panda released an article about questionable architecture but this time we're focusing on something more... personal.
The Facebook group "That's it, I'm home shaming" calls for people to share the ugliest interiors and exteriors of homes they wish they'd never seen, and many have accepted the invitation.
Currently, the group has 110K members.
"Here, one can gag at the ghastly floor to wall color combinations," its 'About' section says. "Cringe at lawns that use car tires for yard decorations, feel a piece of you die inside because another person hung up a 'Live, Laugh, Love' piece on their wall, and everything house and décor shaming in-between."
"'There is no place like home', in this case, let us hope so."

Call with wife
Me:“Babe I’m at Lowe’s what type of ceiling fan did you want for living room ?”
Wife: “ I don’t care pick what you think looks good”
Me: “ok you sure?”
Wife: “ it’s a fan you can’t screw that up”
The new fan:
We got in touch with the people who look after "That's it, I'm home shaming" and they happily agreed to tell us more about this corner of the internet. The founder of the group, Rhiannon Pfeiffer, came up with the idea for it while she was checking out real estate listings. "I had a lot of free time at work one day and was mindlessly scrolling on Zillow," Rhiannon told Bored Panda. "I came across a home in such poor taste that I decided to make a group about shaming ugly homes and décor for fun."
She thinks "the most popular reason for people shaming homes in this group is the interest we all share in bizarre and out of ordinary things we come across." And I definitely agree that's a big factor — we get the same vibe while going through WTF stock photos or the subreddit "What Is This Thing?"
"We see so many shows on TV about interior design and beautiful homes but we never do see anything on the 'crazy' and 'just plain ugly' houses and décor and I believe that is why we have such a loyal following," Rhiannon explained.

"Rhian created this group during the pandemic and invited most of us [admins and moderators], we've been friends since summer camp," Veronica Murphy, caretaker of "That's it, I'm home shaming" added.
"It was a fun way to pass time in quarantine; I think many of us spend countless hours going through houses on Zillow, so it's great to see some of the outrageous things people have found!"
Veronica believes that homes are personal expressions of their owners, and this only makes the bizarre, strange, and downright nonsensical design choices even funnier. "Like why on earth do so many bathrooms have carpet, strange DIY fixes, or hot pink and lime green kitchens?" she asked, laughing.

Rawr!
From what she has seen on the group, moderator Faline Ivaneko thinks carpeted bathrooms and kitchens are actually what gets submitted the most. "We get a lot of wacky, fun, and cringey things posted and some people hate them, and some people love them!" she said. "We're not entirely a shaming group because people are allowed to express whether they love a home/decor or not in the comments.
"We also have Whatever Wednesdays, where people are allowed to post homes they love, or even their own home renovations," Faline added.
Faline describes the members of the group as "very fun."
"The comments section can be hilarious and almost everyone has a great sense of humor. We, of course, do get some rotten eggs but our wonderful admin/mod team are quick to clean up the comments and remove anyone being mean or hateful," she explained.
"Overall it's a super fun group if you want to get a laugh, see some really wacky homes and decor, or even get inspiration for your own home."

Rhiannon Pfeiffer and Veronica Murphy agree with Faline's description of the group members.
"The community of 'That's it, I'm Home Shaming' is such a fun group to be a part of," Rhiannon said. "It is really an indescribable feeling when someone is able to share a picture or video they took or came across during their day to contribute and share with others in a group you created out of sheer boredom. I love that the group can provide entertainment and make people smile, that is really the end goal here. The members of "That's It I'm Home Shaming" are the extended family I never expected to have, but will always love."

First I hate the term shaming people. Second, if they like it who the hell cares. Either dont visit their homes or refrain from that area when visiting.
I agree, I hadn’t thought about it before, but maybe it should be called something like, “here’s some eccentric or wacky home decor, which ones do you like?” And just reframe it in a positive way.
Load More Replies...Don't shame people for things that are a matter of taste. If they like how it looks... mind your own business. Things that are a health or safety issue... yeah shame them. And I do have a problem with people ruining historical architecture. You can't undo that kind of damage.
As ugly and unusable as most of these are, maybe that was the only way they could get some of those amenities.
wow you could have just used the term cool or wacky other wise FROGS HOUSE
I believe many of these are photoshopped, because they are structurally impossible.
Some of these are poorly constructed, ho ahead shame away at the builders. A lot of these are just decorated boldly. It may not be to everyone's taste, but that ok. I think its awesome when people decorate their homes in a way that makes them happy. No need to shame people for living in houses that make them happy.
I once went to a distant relative's house. They had two toilet seats side by side in one big room(big enough to be a bedroom) apart from the bathing area. I mean I don't want to see someone excreting right next to me . Maybe not everyone thinks that way
Are you sure they were both toilets? One may have been a bidet.
Load More Replies...No. HOAs exist because some people like to power trip by oppressing others.
