The idea of getting yourself inked is something that most of us experience at some point of our lives. It often first comes up as a eureka moment in your teenage years, then reoccurs after a night at the student union bar in the first years of college, and later, either turns into a full passion, a momentary flick, or a tattoo that you wouldn’t necessarily call the most genius one.
If you have the latter scenario, this new TikTok trend is for you. After med student Hanna, who goes by the handle @hannanicbic, shared a story of getting herself “the dumbest tattoo,” the clip was destined to go viral. Amassing 804k views and counting, it got more TikTokers sharing their “dumbest” ink tales and it’s kinda relatable, somewhat soothing, and painfully funny at the same time.

This is not referring the Covid masks. She is referring to not wearing a mask, as in a disguise, just to meet people's expectations. As it says in the caption, it means being true to yourself. It is just unfortunate that it did not age well.
If you’re getting a tattoo, you can never be 100% sure it will age well and the initial meaning will stay the same. Well, Leah Holland, 25, of Georgetown, Kentucky has experienced it firsthand.
On March 4, 2020, she got her tattoo which reads “courageously & radically refuse to wear a mask.” In fact, Leah had wanted to get this particular tattoo for two years before she finally did it. But two days later, Kentucky announced its first case of coronavirus and the rest is the pandemic history which keeps on rolling.
Bored Panda reached out to Leah, who was happy to share the backstory of her tattoo, which has gone viral since the TikTok tattoo challenge. The media dubbed Leah its “winner” for obvious reasons.
Leah told us that it all started when “a few years ago, my friend and I were talking about things we admire about each other. He told me he admired how 'real' I am and how I’m not afraid to be completely myself. He said I 'courageously and radically refuse to wear a mask.’”
The Kentucky woman assured us that the quote really meant a lot to her. “I wanted to get a tattoo with those words years before I got it. On March 4, 2020, I did it!”
I wanna be where the people are, I wanna se, wanna see 'em dancing, walking around on those, what do you call 'em?
But as you can imagine, Leah could have never guessed how badly it was about to age. “Unfortunately, I had no idea how drastically the term 'wearing a mask' would change," she commented.
When asked whether she regretted the tattoo, Leah said that she was “very self conscious of it, especially last summer.” In fact, it even made her wear sleeves or cardigans as she felt the need “to cover it up constantly.”
On the other hand, Leah doesn’t necessarily regret it. “Mine was just a timing issue. I'm still glad I got it because that quote means a lot to me. Considering Covid, it's fun to laugh about, too.”
She also added that the whole experience of her pandemic-era tattoo going viral was “a real fun experience.” “It honestly brightens my day to see other people laugh about it, because I’m doing the same,” Leah concluded.
Oh I get it. Bobby from King of the Hill and a Bobby pin. Looks ridiculous.
I mean, it's ok to have opinions, but to feel this strong about it..
Even the dumbest bumper sticker comes off with a razor blade but this kind of stupidity is for life.
Lol. I thought homer had a growth on his neck. Took me a moment to realize it was a heart.
So, he had a dream, and you got the image from the dream tattooed on yourself?
I have no sympathy for people who get their partners name tattooed on them and they end up breaking up. Don't do it. The only time I would ever get my partner's name tattooed on me is if he died.
Why would anyone have the urge to participate in the "look how dumb I am challenge? TikTok is beyond my comprehension. Most of these look even proud that they made a mistake that can hardly be removed...
Many of them can be easily covered up these days. My guess is that they laugh at dumb past decisions (and we all have made some, let´s be honest), and maybe want to warn others not to stray down the same path. It also gives people a sense of belonging and not being alone.
Load More Replies...i saw something where this guy got a tattoo on his..... wobbly bits, and it was a made to look like a ruler. disgusting, painful, stupid but handy. Frank: "hey Bill how long is this stick" Bill: "hold on lemme whip out my penis real quick"
I wonder if he fiddled a little bit with the numbers to make it seem longer :)
Load More Replies...I have a few meaningful tattoos (like 3), I have a tattoo with my sister, a few music-relaled tattoos and some spontaneous ones I just looooved the design. Getting another one in two weeks!
I can’t do tattoos. I’ve always wanted one but I can’t do it because I get bored too easily of things. I would regret it within a year of having it. I love changing up stuff so yea, no, not for me lol 😂
I have the Deathly Hallows (got it done 3 years ago on my birthday), and instead of a symmetric style the "artist" decided to make it look like sticks. So now I have an tepee instead of a symbol of mum surviving death twice. It is well done, sure, but I never went to that guy again.
Reading this post while while sitting in a tattoo parlor for my second tattoo. Kinda awkward 😂
In a way I am glad that I hate needles and I don't have enough money for a tatoo...The only thing I could ask for as a tattoo would be my cats...but again fear of needles! Some of this are cute , most aren't but...their bodies, their decisions!
I have my late cat´s paw, her silhouette in a moon, and her portrait after she passed (among other non-cat tattoos). It is a great way to remember her. If you ever decide to get one, go for a place that hurts the least and find a reputable artist. The more skill, the less pain.

But some employers WONT hire you if the tattoo(s) ARE exposed, they may not tell tell that's the reason but people ha've said that, when It WAS told to them. I personally don't care for them but to each his own and beauty is ALL in the eye of the beholder!
One dumb tattoo that women have, Lucky You tattooed above their private parts.
If you’re going to get something like that tattooed, just get a pen that’s safe to draw on your skin with. So many of these were just doodles.
