This Artist Might Make You Laugh With His Single-Panel Comics (40 Pics)
Interview With ArtistIf you're a long-time reader of Bored Panda, Jimmy Craig might be a very well-known name for you since we've shared a fair share of his works. He writes and illustrates the humorous animal comic "They Can Talk" which received a lot of your attention and love (you can check out the posts by clicking here, here, here, here, here, here and here). Jimmy has been doing the series for over seven years now and his work has even been published in the New Yorker!
In this article, however, we want to introduce you to a slightly different side of Jimmy. He has recently launched a new Instagram page where he uploads witty single-panel comics as a way to share his other ideas. The artist told us that the illustrations are more of a "brain dump" than a structured series, but he has loved making them and the response has been great, so the artist fully intends to keep it running!

We got curious about how Jimmy's journey as an artist started. He shared that he used to redraw his favorite comic strips as a kid, that and Ninja Turtles. "I wore down a lot of green crayons. I remember making short picture books too... and have plans to start doing those again after a few-decades-long hiatus. I've been into writing, animation, and film production, really anything creative - but drawing has always been a constant."
We asked Jimmy where he gets ideas for his comics. The artist answered that he is inspired by music, other comic artists, and just from being out in the world. "Needing inspiration is a great excuse to go out for coffee."
"I've been a huge fan of The Far Side and Calvin and Hobbes, even before I was old enough to get half the jokes. Later on, Nicholas Gurewitch's PBF comics revived my interest in comics and introduced me to other series like Space Avalanche and Extra Fabulous Comics. More recently, I've been into a lot of New Yorker cartoonists like Brendan Loper and Zoe Si. There are so many amazing cartoonists today whose work is so readily available that I feel like we're living in a new Golden Age of Comics."
"I really find making comics fulfilling, which is sort of a prerequisite to being a cartoonist. I don't think anyone gets in the game for the money. I am a fan first and love just being part of the conversation, never mind getting published alongside some of my favorites. My goal is always to make people laugh, but if someone stops scrolling for a second and smiles - I'll take it."
Jimmy has created a new book that's coming out in the spring, called Are You Gonna Eat That? It's a greatest hits collection of They Can Talk comics and we are pretty sure that all the fans are going to love it! You can preorder the book on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
Knowledge is to know that Frankenstein is the guy who built the monster, not the monster itself. Wisdom is to know that the real monster is Frankenstein, the guy who built the so-called monster.
It's best to confirm your expectations with the contractor before they cut.
No, you gotta roll it up and then cut the top off to get EVERYTHING out
