50 Posts You Might Find Hilarious If You’re In Your Thirties (New Pics)
Interview With AuthorBeing a millennial isn’t always easy. The older generations might look down on you for spending your life's savings on avocado toast and lattes, while the younger generations will roast your skinny jeans and ankle socks on TikTok. You’re old enough to have chronic back pain, yet too young to be able to afford a home! Life is cruel!
But if you’re looking to bond with fellow millennials about the trials and tribulations of being in your thirties, you’ve come to the right place, pandas. We took a trip to the “I Am Thirty AF” Instagram page and gathered some of their most hilarious posts down below. Current population of Flat Earth believers in the USA NOW in 2024, about 6 MILLION people.
We’re big fans of I Am Thirty AF here at Bored Panda, so this actually isn’t the first time we’ve featured the hilarious account. And lucky for us, we were able to get in touch with Chloe and Peter, the friendly couple who runs the page. They were kind enough to discuss their extremely successful account, which has now amassed over 3.6 million followers, as well as what they've been up to with their other pages since we last spoke to them about 7 months ago.
"We have four pages now on Instagram, our main @iamthirtyaf that focuses on millennial themes and nostalgia, @iamstarvingaf that is fully focused on food (which I fully relate to), @iamemployedaf that focuses on job related themes, and our newest page @iamokayaf that focuses on mental health with a bit of humor tied in," the creators shared.
I liked him when I was a child but didn't begin to understand what an incredibly admirable human being, gift to the world, and specific gift to my own childhood he was until I understood how rare and delightful his effortless compassion was. That's how he good he was, as a child I thought he was indicative of the greater world, he shaped my worldview for the better. What a beautiful human being and an example to all.
"We're also LOVING Threads and are super active there with original content from the two of us," Chloe and Peter continued. "This year, we've also been focusing on expanding beyond social media and are having an absolute blast!"
"We started our brand during the pandemic when we were all stuck in our homes for days on end, and now that we can get out and meet people in real life, we're working on live events and a few other fun projects. We were in the Netflix is a Joke Fest at the start of the year and have had a ton of fun shows around the country since then," they shared. "Our next Funny AF live show is in Brooklyn in October- check out details to come on @iamthirtyaf !"
Maybe her secret is that she stays clean, doesn't let her skin dry out, doesn't smoke and eats decent food and so can anyone else?
We were also curious how the creators decide exactly what they want to share on their accounts. "We continue to post things that we personally relate to and find funny or connect with in some other way. Every day we do a different themed carousel post with ten+ memes/reels all pertaining to a single topic," they told Bored Panda.
Husband is a 41 year old police officer and the other day I found his childhood bear in the bed. When I asked about it he said, ‘I just felt a bit lonely and wanted to hang out with Big Ted’ It was adorable.
"The topics [in our posts] range from airport travel to Shrek to school experiences we all shared growing up in the 90s to shared experiences we have as 30 somethings," Chloe and Peter explained. "They're a ton of fun to put together, and we often include a fun story from our personal lives in the caption. Every Wednesday, the theme is Wholesome Wednesday (my favorite day of the week), and every Friday we do a #FollowFriday carousel where we feature a writer/creator we love."
Finally, we asked the creators what the best part of being a millennial or a thirty-something is. "We started this page in our early 30s and are suddenly finding ourselves just a few years out from 40," they shared. "I think going through our 30s with this page has helped me to really appreciate how much positive growth happens in our 30s!"
"I feel like a completely different person at 37 than I was at 30 in the best possible way- I feel more in control of my life and my emotions, my goals feel more within reach and attainable," the creators shared. "I'm more confident in my abilities to accomplish what I set out to do and I honestly just feel so much more comfortable in who I am."
This! There was no such program in my school but I was conditioned to be that always straight As student (by parents and teachers simply cause I did well at school). And I was! Never failed! But what did I develop? Perfectionism. It’s not a great thing as it sounds. I can’t do something half way. I have to be the best at what I do and will kill myself until I achieve that extreme target. And I don’t know what failure is (in the big picture) so I can’t even fathom what it is or can’t bear to think of a plan B. Oh and everyone’s expectations for me are out of this world. I’m so burned out now but unconsciously am still trying to achieve the best. It’s a never ending mentality. I hate it.
Ah, yes, capitalism at it's finest teaching children to be better than everyone as individuals or we fail. In order to be better than everyone else, we have to be perfect. Such nonsense. Why can't we all just work together?
Load More Replies...I was a year ahead in my school in the 1960's (senior school). I excelled at some subject and failed miserably at others. I was labelled lazy and threatened with expulsion. I was diagnosed with ADHD at 70.
I was born in 1962 and my parents were asked if I was on d***s when I was about 13 because of my "spacey" behavior. I was not on d***s and never have been. Still got very high grades and only relized that I probably have ADHD after my son was diagnosed.
Load More Replies...My daughter is 11 and in GT right now and showing early signs of all of this. Just yesterday I told her that if it stops being fun (all the English homework is killing her joy of reading) that we can pull her out at the end of any term. Education is great, but I refuse to let the method of instruction destroy the joy of learning.
My parents pulled me out of the GT program after first grade. I had night terrors and was generally a stressed-out little kid. They only put me back in the program after the teacher was replaced with the most awesome person who fostered our curiosity and learning.
Load More Replies...Gen Xer. I graduated in thr early 90s. But I can relate. Always got straight As, won writing awards, took AP classes. I have an anxiety disorder but was just recently diagnosed with OCD and so much of my life--especially my childhood--makes sense now.
I feel attacked. :) I'm the oldest daughter and was in GT programs (English and Spanish) in the 90's. Who the hell has been watching me???
i thought i could melt into the background until they gave out the bonus points for being the eldest daughter.
Oldest daughter here, except it was the G & T in the 1970's--1980's My ADD was NEVER diagnosed and now I am paying the price. High functioning--but paralyzed with anxiety, A total perfectionist, but procrastinating so much for fear of failure!!
the only part of this that isn't me is the "daughter" part. I was the oldest son. Everything else hits the mark!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THAT'S MEEEEEEEEEEEE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
There is this term when talking about people with ASD- twice exceptional. It means some children are very highly accomplished in one area (like maths or their special interest) yet not in others (like social skills).
In my third long term abusive relationship and too frozen to do anything about it...
girl how?? I was the youngest kid in the g&t program at school... wasted so much time, loved it.... now I'm just getting by with senior work because of above mentioned issues, all while having to semi-parent my younger siblings, and I'm only getting by because of my faith. Hahahaaaaaagh
I'm chugging along. My toxic tendency is that I hate to be wrong about anything, but other than that I'm unscathed
They didn't call it gate in my day. But didn't exist yet but been there done that but I'm not anxious about it. I actually enjoyed the higher functioning classes
My wife, except she's the youngest, most disappointing daughter in her parents' eyes so she tries to do even more.
When I realized that 'Perfectionism Based Procrastination' is a recognized thing, a weight was lifted. As I sat in my cluttered house WANTING to accomplish ANYTHING but unable to find the oomph, I had already deduced that I procrastinated because essentially, if I didn't have the time, energy and health to do that thing PERFECTLY, I wouldn't even start. To find out that others suffer the same conundrum was refreshing. I am not crazy (at least in that manner) after all.
I am with you on this wholeheartedly. When i learned in therapy the 80% rule I was able to find a tool i could hold onto. Perfect is impossible but 80% is good enough!
Load More Replies...It may not have been the 90 but as a gen z I correlate way too much to this.
I never understood eating contests anyway. It´s absolutely disgusting to look at.
"One of my favorite parts of running the AF pages is having the chance to connect with millions of like minded strangers over shared experiences, and I've found that this growth journey in our 30s is one that a lot of people are experiencing. Of course, there are fears and frustrations that come with getting older, but it has been super refreshing connecting with people over the great things that come with getting older," Peter and Chloe told Bored panda. "And whenever we do eventually become 40AF, I look forward to continuing on that journey with this group of millennials."

And get an older repeat of take your kids to work day's, "Daddy, where are all the clowns?" I don't think so.
I used to do this when my son worked at an amusement park in high school. I'd go in an eat at the stands he was working at just to say hi to him while he was working. I'd walk around the park for a bit to get some exercise, and he said it broke up the monotony of his shift to see me.
I enjoy assembling flat pack furniture. I know, I'm weird, but there's a sense of accomplishment at the end, especially if I did it alone. So when hubby comes home I can say "see...look what I did!"
I want to see a photo shoot in the latest fashions and an accompanying interview about his personal goals from Steve in Accounting.
I'd be a terrible clock, can I be a bookshelf instead?
Like the Houston airport that, in response to complaints of long wait times for baggage claim, made the walk to baggage claim six times longer? Complaints dropped to zero.
More like "Can we interest you in *unnecessary product * we just came up with?"
Disney just took over Doctor Who and did 8 episodes for the season. They think I'm going to wait an entire year for 8 more but I'm done. F**k that. See you in 2032 when there are enough episodes to bother with.
I really enjoyed this one and I'm 45... age is just a number... Wow, I'm 45 and sound like a 60 yo that just bought a home gym.... I need to re-examine myself..
I'll be 31 in a few months, today I was giggling about the fact that I wear almost -exclusively Hey Dude shoes (they're so comfy!), I buy seasonal dish towels (just got some cute Halloween ones from target!) and in the last year have bought a record-player and now have a decent vinyl collection. Oh, and did I mention I drink a lot of polar seltzers... 😹😵💫
I was old before my time, too. Then I actually became old and I can't work out how I'm still alive. Unless I'm immortal.
