Do what makes you happy. I don't mind gender roles, I am female and do most of the cleaning and cooking. My BF works on our vehicles and does most of the outside maintenance, I'm happy with that.

Division of labor in our house is simple - whoever can, does. Gender roles take energy to adhere to and we're too tired for that. Marriage isn't 50/50. It's 100/100.

I have a somewhat neutral opinion on this, there are certain things that I think the man should do, &things the woman is usually better at, barring unique limitations. As the woman, if the trash gets full & he isn't home, I can take it out, but generally he should take primary responsibility for it. Anything involving lifting or requiring a lot of strength. & as the woman I take primary responsibility for the DEEP cleaning & organizing. He can pick up after himself & help out, but I don't expect him to wash cabinets, walls, interior windows, etc. To me, this feels like a fair trade.
