While these posts highlight the fun and witty side of women, it’s worth noting that humor often comes from a place of resilience. Women joke about life, and their quirks, and even make fun of themselves, but behind the laughs, there are still significant issues that need attention.
Lack of education is one such issue. Even today, in many parts of the world, women and girls are denied the right to an education. Whether that’s due to poverty, cultural norms, or a lack of resources, countless women miss out on opportunities simply because they’re not allowed to learn.
And if you're not brave enough to pick one while other passengers are still waiting, go for a belt that has lonely suitcases just going round and round. Not that I'm brave enough to do even that, but it's not like the thought hasn't crossed my mind ...
Another pervasive issue women face is the stigma surrounding menstruation. Despite being a natural biological process, it is often shrouded in taboo and silence. This leaves countless women and girls without proper resources, education, or support, forcing them to navigate these challenges in isolation.
Menstrual stigma often stems from cultural and societal biases, which frame menstruation as something shameful or abnormal. This perception can marginalize those who menstruate, perpetuating a cycle of misinformation, exclusion, and limited access to essential hygiene products and facilities.
In the workplace, the gender pay gap remains a stark reality. Many women have spoken up about being paid less than their male counterparts for the same roles and responsibilities, highlighting how far we still need to go to achieve workplace equality.
My son and his partner don't want kids, and do you know what I said? Absolutely nothing as it's nothing to to with me.
Good for you. You aren't alone, but you might not be in the majority!
Load More Replies...It's an unspoken grief for me personally. I have three children and have told every single one of them I fully support their choice if they want to be childless and would actually recommend it because it's a terrible world out there and getting worse.
Beìng a grandparent is not an automatic right. Having children is a personal choice and parents of children who wish to remain childless should respect that choice. Also, you cannot grieve for something you never had. What they mean is "I'm upset you didn't make the same choices I did." Well folks, the older generation fücked up the world. Don't blame us if we don't want to create new witnesses to the tragedy.
Mom, Dad, it's because you and your friends keep voting for people who are pro-life - right until the moment of birth... 🤷♀️🤦♀️
I think of the many, many things I owed my parents and have to disagree. Better to say "Children don't owe you everything you'd like."
Load More Replies...I told my mother that the only grandchild she was going to get from me would be furry and have four legs and a tail. It took the poor woman about 30 seconds to realize what I meant. Lol
My mom called my first dog her granddog, long before she had any real grandkids. She continued to refer to my dogs as her granddogs.
Load More Replies...A growing number of Americans cannot afford to have children. They have to work increasingly long hours at work for little pay to just barely afford their exorbitant rent and grocery bills. A growing number of Americans cannot afford to buy a home to raise a child in. Minorities- lgbt+, women etc- are being forced back in time to a point where their rights are being taken away, while the good old boys talk about making America great again. And we can't afford decent daycare that will watch those children and not abuse them. They also choose not to have children because of the horrible abuses they suffered at the hands of those same grandparents who now want a 'do-over' with the grandkids. Some people choose not to have children because they've created a world where we don't feel safe doing so. So yeah, a growing number of Americans don't want children. and we wonder why.
I read that, and it really hit home. When my first son got married was at the bridal shower. Her mom kept pestering her to have kids (at the shower!) and tried to rope me into joining her. Hell no! Not my place! Their decision. I have never once told them to have kids. Same with Second Son. I now know I will never have grandchildren. Yes, my heart is broken. But I will NEVER tell them, because it's their lives, not mine. I need to figure out my grief, my future planning, on my own.
Pish Posh. My kid is not married so quit asking. Or I will continue to ask how many times your kids have been divorced. Are they all out of jail yet? Seriously we have a friend that think it is a crime our son is not married but at least two of their kids have been divorced and in jail. No crime there.
Those who what to be a grandparent and will not become so through blood need to find an overworked and tired single parent and ask them if they can come to their house and play with their young children; maybe take them for a walk or to a nearby park. These same people would love you to fold their toddler clothing, pick up blocks and books, as well as wipe clean the high chair tray. Don't mope, find the grandchildren out there who need a grandparent.
There are three of us, no children and too old to have them now, so it will end with us. I've worked and had help from a few charities and although the people on the ground are very good, I've witnessed the vast majority of the money skimmed off the top by those in charge. So I have no idea where our wealth will go when we are all gone.
Their times, their lives. Just because you were brought up expecting to be a parent has no bearing on your kids.
SPOON is my favorite British insult. (The most useless tool in the drawer)
Gender inequality isn’t limited to pay. Women often face limited opportunities for leadership positions or decision-making roles. This imbalance extends to politics, corporate offices, and even creative fields.
Sounds chill, they usually contain only 700ml and it's not hard to chug that down within 5 minutes
Balancing work and life is another unique challenge many women face. Juggling careers, families, and personal goals can feel like an uphill battle. Interestingly, the pandemic has prompted more men to take on household responsibilities, easing some of the burden, but it’s still far from equal.
Just make it up as you go along like everyone else.
Pregnancy discrimination is yet another issue. Many women report being passed over for promotions or even losing their jobs simply because they’re pregnant or are planning to have children. This unfair treatment discourages women from pursuing both career and family goals simultaneously
Zaftig means pleasantly plump, and it's the only positive synonym of fat that I know of. Anyone know any other words that put a positive spin on something that is usually deemed negative?
Workplace disparity doesn’t stop there. Women often face additional challenges like discrimination and bias, especially in male-dominated industries. It’s a battle just to be seen, heard, and taken seriously.
I remember reading that list on Cracked that basically convinced me that Cosmo's staff want all men dead.... or at least heavily maimed. It was just such a manical marriage between gaslighting and paranoia, it wouldn't surprise me if Cosmo is the women's magazine version of Fox News.
My phone just tried to close down 4 tabs I've been keeping open for reference for at least 4 years. I usually consult them at least once a year, but my phone thought it would be "helpful." Thankfully it also gave me the option to open them back up, but I'm still salty my phone thinks it knows me.
Inadequate healthcare is another hurdle. From reproductive health to mental health services, many women face barriers to accessing the care they need. Whether that’s due to a lack of resources, stigma, or systemic bias, these gaps have a profound impact on women’s lives.
These posts may show the lighter side of women, but they also serve as a reminder of the strength and humor women bring to the table despite the challenges they face. Which issue do you think needs more attention? Let’s start the conversation!
My wife trying to convince me that a 30 cent savings/gallon on fuel is worth driving 30 miles for. "Yes dear, you DO save $3.00 (on 10 gallons), and your car gets 30mpg, at an average price of $3.00/gallon
It's your day off, you're in the city centre and it's 2pm. The day shift is still in work, afternoon shift are just starting, morning shift are about to clock out and night shift are tucked up in bed. So how are the shops packed with people, wandering around with a dozen shopping bags in each hand.
Since when did ASL start standing for “as hell”?? Last I knew, it meant “American Sign Language” and just had to Google this to make some kind of sense of this meme… WTF???
I never realized how much I sigh at work until a new colleague asked me if I was annoyed with them. It's not annoyance, I think it's just asthma. Lol
I would have created day and night at the very end - that way I'd have gotten everything done in a single day and gotten the rest of the week off!
Hopefully they were all in the top 50 of 106 because I can't see the rest. Thank you BP for saving me from your sponsor's intrusive ads! This is almost as good as ad free!
