Okay, I legit hate this. People who don't believe mental health problems are a thing bother me. I hate it when teachers expect my friend with severe social anxiety to give presentations like anyone else. It's like telling a kid in a wheelchair to run a mile. It's not right, fair, insulting, and impossible. Why can't we just be more understanding of the unseen struggles?

And this is why we have mental health issues. It's too hard to speak up.

to anybody struggling with your mental health, idiots like these ARE THE PROBLEM. you ARE valued and you are NOT insane for believing so. your mental health conditions ARE NOT all in your head, and the first step of healing is acknowledging them so you can get help--even if help is just talking to a stranger on the internet. these people are wrong: you're amazing and there's nothing they can do about it. Have a lovely day!

Aah yes. That one can be a good scapegoat to everything wrong with a person. "you're too fat to be healthy", crying shame that. Next up, eating disorders for social acceptance.

Bored Panda reached out to Salma, who told us more about her background: “I never studied art, in fact I graduated as a software engineer. But I ditched my engineering degree for the art path, and that's one of the best decisions I've ever made.”

Salma also explained what drew her to the world of cartooning.

“Since I was a kid, I loved drawing and crafting. But making comics started as doodling caricatures for my friends in high school. They made them laugh and that made me happy.

They did get me in trouble sometimes, I got suspended for one week for drawing my high school teachers. But no regrets,” shared Salma.

In order to get a better understanding of the essence of Salma’s comics, she shared the repeating themes. My comics are inspired from my daily life, my friends and family and my mental health.

I love to draw silly situations that happened to me or to my friends, deep stories about my past experiences and mental health awareness,” wrote Salma.

Next, we were curious about Salma’s creative process and how she comes up with ideas for comics. The artist shared: “I could be doing house chores, working or in bed when a comic idea hits me. I immediately doodle it in my sketchbook and later, draw it on my tablet. The ideas are really random, it could be something that happened to me that day, a conversation I had with someone or a past memory that I remembered.”

Crows don't eat dead body's that often... they prefer bugs nuts and fruit. Sorry ima corvid chick

Moreover, Salma shared what she hopes for people to take away from her comics: “What brings me satisfaction and happiness about making my comics is when someone tells me that it made their day or that it helped them in some way. I would hope that a comic would put a smile on someone's face, or even if it makes them cry, it would be in a peaceful and kind way.

I also hope people would be more aware of mental health and more understanding of it.”

And lastly, Salma added: “Growing up with crafty hands, everyone was reminding me that art in Tunisia won't get me anywhere. So I pursued a path that I didn't like and that never fulfilled me. Taking the decision to switch to the art path wasn't easy, the road was bumpy and full of mental breakdowns. But it was worth it. And I'm happy I'm here.”

Yes! Haha! My bf once drove past me when I was uuhhm.... yelling along to some metal music in my car and he called me afterwards asking why I'd looked so darn angry while driving. Lol. You cannot sing angry songs about k1lling people and look happy. Lol. (I do believe I was yelling along to "So you Die" by Bloodbath. 🤘😁)

Men don't see as many colours as women. I read somewhere that it was developed when humans were hunter/gatherers. More women gathered plants and berries etc and it was more useful for them to identify what was safe to eat and what wasn't.

No no... you don't *have* to start shaving. If it bothers you then just don't. If ppl complain then ask them why they are looking at your legs in the first place. Visible hairs on legs are not dangerous or bad. It will be Summer even if you do not shave. And if you don't shave and still don't like to show off your hairs then put on some loose, thin pants. Such items are out there. :)

Me: 1, loved her even with floof. 2, doesn't know what's bothering her, so keep an open mind and be prepared to change. 3, Might be stress or any of other many, many factors, so be supportive. 4, DUCK AND COVER! Then come back with some decaff and a tummy-rub if it's safe...

Actually not supposed to do that... the good counseling they make the mindset better and more stable THEN slowly help, not deal with or kill HELP the parts of her childhood that caused the trauma little by little. Your past is a traumatized kid not an enemy
