I think, most people know if they gave it some thought, but it does mean giving up very tasty items and that choice is not easy.

If no, put that cake down and wait until you are hungry. If you start feeling sated while eating - put that pizza down. Also eat slowly, enjoying every bite. Don't be afraid to leave food. Unfortunately, the types of food that satisfy hunger and provide the fastest gratification are the highest calorie. ie- large McDonalds, pizza, pasta, fries, etc. Therefore it is easy to consume 1000 calories in 10 minutes before you stop feeling hungry - 20 mins later you will feel over-full and guilty. 500 calories of healthier food will take a little longer for the body to tell the brain it is no longer hungry. 300 calories of low fat protein will satisfy your body way longer than a piece of cake - if this makes sense.

Please remember these rules.... If you are standing whilst eating the calories dont count. Each time you cut the food, came etc. The calories are halved. Each time!!! What really bothers me is if i dont eat something why don't I drop pounds??

Just know how much do you consume and make sure you burn the excess (and a bit more if you want to lose fat). Third, weighing is a bad idea, as you goal is loss of excessive fat, not weight in general. Apparent weight loss may be caused by loss of muscle tissue (good way to get diabetes) and dehydration (something you need to avoid at any time). Measuring your girth/thigh is much, much better way of checking whether you actually lose fat, it also gives you a healthy goal. Fourth, weight loss is not a religious practice, it is a simple math. Food is not a sin, just a reason to workout more.
I've found that the secret to dieting is to identify what healthy foods you actually like, and make sure they are in your fridge for the inevitable snack attacks. For me, cherries, berries, grapes, raw pea pods, ready sliced pineapple or melon. If it's there, easily available, and yummy, it helps you avoid cheating. Diets are doomed to fail if you are trying to force yourself to stick to food you hate.
