Memes are now an essential component of the online world and are known to circulate rapidly across various social media platforms. However, what exactly is it about memes that makes them so catchy and easily shareable? Bradley E. Wiggins, Ph.D., an Associate Professor and Department Head of Media Communications at Webster Vienna Private University and author of the book “The Discursive Power of Memes in Digital Culture”, has previously told Bored Panda that memes are usually short and easy-to-share content that incorporate humor, making them highly relatable to the subject matter depicted in the meme. “Memes that reflect or reject certain ideological aspects become part of the larger online experience and can serve to reinforce one’s preconceived notions about a particular issue.”
As is evident from the memes, being an introvert can be challenging at times, not only while navigating social interactions at work or school, but also online. Social media can be overwhelming for introverted individuals who prefer solitude because such platforms are often designed to encourage constant engagement. Introverts can also find social interaction intimidating due to their concerns about their self-image. According to Joanna Rawbone, MSc, a training consultant and founder of ‘Flourishing Introverts’, introverts who have worked on themselves to the point of being less worried about what others think of them are more able to lead themselves and others successfully. “We’re not for everyone, and everyone is not for us. Overthinkers take note and I should know, I used to be one!”
If you identify as an introvert, it's important to embrace your personality and not feel pressured to change to fit societal norms. However, there are strategies that can help you build confidence and allow you to ‘flourish’. Joanna Rawbone’s favorite definition of flourishing comes from Dr. Lynn Soots: “Flourishing is the product of the pursuit and engagement of an authentic life that brings inner joy and happiness through meeting goals, being connected with life passions, and relishing in accomplishments through the peaks and valleys of life.”
If I don't know the number, I'm not answering. If it's important, leave a message.
“Flourishing is a journey, not a destination, a choice we make moment by moment, so being able to measure and appreciate progress is essential. And because life is filled with ups and downs, we provide tools that enable resilience, build authentic confidence and develop a powerful presence. My years of enabling my own flourishing and helping my introverted clients to flourish have resulted in a 3-phase approach that starts with owning your introversion and your inherent strengths. Too many introverts, worn down by years or decades of being told to be different, have had them think that introversion is a hindrance in life. It doesn’t have to be this way,” Joanna Rawbone shared.

I think some people have to understand that introverts are human beings too
Then when I think it is clear, I get stopped by a different neighbor.
There isn't a period of time in someone's life that is just automatically the best. Everyone has their time, some parts of life are just bad but there is more to it. You have an entire life to live, so many more opportunities and experiences.
I don’t either… my professor once forgot him mic on and went round screaming at his kids. It was a mindfulness class, btw.
I stopped the complaining ages ago, oh the freedom that gave me. Now, where did I put my snacks and drink?
I don't want to know how bad things are, if THEY start showing up!
Need a drink for confidence boost, maybe a second. Now I'm comfy and good to stay home😊
I did...I really did. I especially liked that I could sit alone at work or drive alone (no traffic was a plus).
I have an ongoing story with dozens of characters, a whole fantasy world an all going on for about 18 years now. Whenever I'm bored I go to that place for a little fun
BP once again conflating introversion, social anxiety, and shyness. Once again, these are not the same thing.
Hey BoredPanda Staff, do you review and edit articles before you post them? Introversion does not mean social anxiety, shyness, and never wanting to leave your home. Many introverts do leave their homes, have a number of hobbies and play sports, hang out with friends in smaller groups, but just need time to recharge. These memes seem to be more about agoraphobia an depression. Christ, I'm not even an introvert and it's sad that I have to write this!
If you are an introvert and wondering why those "relatable" memes don't seem relatable at all - it's because most of them aren't about introversion. Being an introvert doesn't mean being maladapted inept sociophobe overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, drowning on their endless insecurities and hating everything remotely positive.
This is not introversion. This is see a psychiatrist as soon as possible.
Well thank you for speaking out loud, I was beginning to think there was something wrong with me because I actually enjoy leaving the house and spending time with friends

Shouting out to the BP Staff: Maybe in Lithuania it's "introversion equals social anxiety disorder" but in much of the world (even Latin America!) it's just known as "we all need time away from other people now and then".
Me when I'm home doing stuff by myself that I love: "Dang, I never want to go out ever again." Me when I'm meeting with friends at a bar: "Dang, I never want to go home ever again."
I'm an introvert because growing up and even now, when I open my mouth I get shut down
Sorry that happened to you, but that's not introversion.
Load More Replies...Complaining that these memes aren't relevant to introversion but to social anxiety and that social anxiety is a disorder while introversion is normal makes me feel like the West Side story kids, I'm depraved because I'm deprived? Funnily enough you can be both at the same time, so officer Krupke... and I'm sure you know the rest. Same old same old every time, BP doesn't get it. If you agree with these memes you're not introverted you're socially anxious and need therapy? And who made you a psychiatrist diagnosing those who feel these memes? You are insulting and have no authority to assume what people here are feeling or enduring or just existing, so please shut up. This is one time when your professional opinion should be, if I can't say anything nice, don't say anything, armchair psychiatrists. .
Sweetie, it's not about a diagnosis. Introversion isn't supposed to make your life miserable. If you are overwhelmed by fear every time you have meet somebody new or pick up your phone - it's certainly not okay.
Load More Replies...To everyone arguing whether it's introversion or social phobia, please give it a rest. There's quite an overlap with them both and anyone that doesn't know or understand this should really pipe down.
Social anxiety is a disorder, introversion is not. We really shouldn't lead people to believe that their mental health issues that make their life worse is just a personality type and totally normal.
