Amusing tidbit: while the cheap foods go up in price astronomically, the more expensive stuff has grown in price much more slowly. Meaning it's technically more justifiable than ever to get quality foods instead.

Ehh this is not really true. There have been complicated stuff in video games for a long while. And there's tons of "games now" that are simple and uncomplicated. Just don't play (some) AAA garbage.
