Interview With ArtistJulie Hrudová, born in 1988 in the historic city of Prague, has since established herself in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where she immerses herself in the world of photography.
With a portfolio that has graced various publications, her talent has not only garnered attention locally but has also been showcased in exhibitions on an international level. Her collaboration with the Amsterdam-based newspaper, Het Parool, between 2020 and 2021, culminated in a captivating series of weekly street photos. This endeavor led to the publication of her book, "Chasing Amsterdam," which garnered critical acclaim and was hailed as one of the best photo books of 2022 by the Dutch newspaper, de Volkskrant.
In Julie's words, her inspiration to keep photographing is the chance to capture the "Daily life and the (potential) strangeness of everyday life. As a photographer, I’m trying to translate regular situations into my own interpretation of it, a new kind of situation."

Bored Panda reached out to Julie Hrudová, a distinguished photographer whose lens has captured the pulse of Amsterdam's streets. With a keen eye for the extraordinary in the mundane, Julie's journey in photography began unassumingly.
When asked, "How did photography come into your life?" Julie candidly credited her initiation into photography to technology: "Through a mobile phone, my first digital device to photograph with."
Through extensive DNA manipulation, science has invented a self-petting feline.
In exploring her muse, the question arose, "What inspires you to create them?" Julie shared that her work is fueled by "Daily life and the (potential) strangeness of everyday life. As a photographer, I’m trying to translate regular situations into my own interpretation of it, a new kind of situation."
The woman is absolutely loving on that horse while the guy is, "Um, too close mate."
Curiosity about her proficiency led to the question, "How do you manage to get street photography so good?" to which she humbly responded, "Not sure if it's so good. But practicing helps."
Delving into her routine, the Bored Panda asked the photographer, "How often do you go out on the streets to photograph?" Julie replied, "I always carry a camera with me. Between 2020 and 2021, I had a weekly photo section in an Amsterdam newspaper, so I was roaming the streets a few days a week. Now I hunt a bit less."
In recognition of her achievements, we asked her, "Have you ever had an exhibition or a book?" Hrudová acknowledged both successes, stating, "Yes and yes. The book, 'Chasing Amsterdam,' consists of the weekly newspaper series. It's sold out."
Lastly, when asked about her educational background, "Did you study to become the professional you are today?" she revealed, "Not really. I studied Film and Photography, more theory than practice."
